Short on expectations
Having previously rented similar four bedroom holiday homes in Florida this property did not come up to expectations.
We were a family of six, five adults and a child from the UK visiting our son and his family for two weeks. The house location was twenty minutes from our son’s house and his beach trailer at Shediac in the other direction which suited us fine for meeting up.
We didn’t realise the house was not a permanent holiday rental but the residents had moved out just prior to our stay. It would appear they had a cat by the hairs on the furniture and food left in the garage which attracted flies as did the recycling waiting collection. The coffee machine had to be thoroughly cleaned as the reservoir contained stagnant water. A clean and dust would have been fitting before our arrival. The dish washer was broken waiting repair which we were financially compensated.
It was a particularly hot period during our stay, there wasn’t any air conditioning in the house only ceiling fans which made sleeping very uncomfortable. The change of bed linen was still in its original packaging and hadn’t been washed ready to change.
The redeeming factor was the BBQ and swimming pool which was greatly appreciated by all, including our Canadian grandchildren during the hot weather. There were sufficient pool towels but only one sun lounger which was broken. We were asked to clean the pool and add the chemicals during the stay.
Considering the limited availability of suitable properties in the area for rental the house was spacious and met our overall needs, we had an enjoyable stay.
