About Julie Knowles
I am originally from the UK and first came to Jamaica when I was 18 and on that first visit I fell in love with this amazing country and I am now so lucky to call this country my home. I have been married for 32 years, we have two children (19 & 21) and our family home is nestled in the hills above Montego Bay. I am an interior stylist working mainly in the vacation villa industry and so I was delighted when friends asked me to help manage their beautiful homes. My husband and I love exploring places off the beaten track, we like to sit and chat, drink some good wine and enjoy the company of good friends and family. We love sailing, snorkeling, walking and watching old movies.
Julie Knowles purchased this Villa in 2017
Why Julie Knowles chose Montego Bay
The owners have lived in this area for many years and it is has always been a very special and beautiful place. The Property offers the most amazing views of both ocean and the mountains beyond and is situated in a small gated community. It provides a very safe and secure environment but offers you privacy in the most stunning location.
What makes this Villa unique
The property is owned by a well respected Jamaican family and was built to exact details to accommodate their family needs. Therefore, they also want you to feel at home. This is one of only a few modern villas on the Island. It offers contemporary living with a relaxed tropical Caribbean vibe. We have the most amazing talented young Chef and incredible staff. We are sure you will not want to leave.
100% refund if canceled at least 30 days before arrival date. 50% refund if canceled at least 14 days before arrival date.
Our family of 11 ranging from a 3 year old to a 70 year old had one of the most relaxing and enjoyable vacations at the Villa. The Villa is spacious, well furnished and well maintained. The pool was perfect for all the ages, including the 3 year old due to the large shallow end.
The staff is beyond amazing, catering to all our requests with smiles on their faces. Chef Tameka whipped up delicious meals 3 times a day for us, plus appetizers for our 5:30pm cocktail hour.
She accommodated the children's palates as well as satisfying the adults request for specific foods.
Ms. Daphine and Ms. Carlee picked up after us, did piles of laundry and kept our rooms spotless. Carl made sure we had plenty of cocktails while also blending up speciality drinks for the kids. Ralston did double duty keeping the grounds looking beautiful while also helping where needed. Last but not least Richard our very informative and patient driver was amazing as well. I feel a need to thank each one by name because they truly made the experience what it was.
Thanks to all for such a memorable vacation for our family.

When I planned this trip, I was reading through all of the reviews, just like you are right now! Each one of the reviews were pretty much saying the same thing so I was thinking the owners had written all of the reviews themselves... The Staff is Great, the food is Awesome, the house is out of this world, blah blah blah.... Well, let me tell you, ITS ALL TRUE!!! We love this villa, and the name is fitting as well! It rained 3 of the 4 days we were there and we still had a blast!! The backyard is your living room. The bedrooms are all nice, the Masters are over the top though! Transportation to and from was perfect and they even accommodated a guest who's flight was delayed. The beach is not really good for playing in the sand, but all of us went out on the canoes and paddle boards (even in the rain). And the build up the front of the pool so theres sand there for the kiddos to build sand castles with the nanny, whom I HIGHLY recommend. Writting this makes me wanna go back right now! This place rocks!!! ENJOY!!!
Everything was REAL nice!
Week in paradise
We had a group that ranged in ages from 2-60’s, spanning 3 generations/2 sides of the family and we could not have had a better week.
The house itself is gorgeous. The finishes are top of the line, everything is clean, new, and modern. The rooms were huge and the bedding was comfortable, air conditioning worked great. There was a crib for my 2 year old.
The infinity pool is amazing with views of the beach/inlet. The beach in front of the house isn’t great for swimming but was perfect to use the kayaks and paddle boards that were available. Lots of starfish and jellyfish to be seen which the kids loved. We checked out the beach at hard rock one day (walkable) and had a beach day at doctor’s cove beach (very short drive) which was great.
With all the patios and outdoor space, there was plenty of room for us all to be together or spread out as needed.
The staff is what made the vacation a true vacation. Vacation with kids is often just a trip for the parents rather than a relaxing vacation but the staff went out of their way to make sure they took care us. Chef Kent was great accommodating a variety of diets including kids, a gluten free pescatarian, and several people who don’t eat any seafood combined with several who love seafood. Challenging to say the least but I think we all went home a few pounds heavier!
Mr. Carl was quick to grab anything that we needed and make sure we enjoyed ourselves and made some great frozen drinks.
Daphne and Carlene kept the house/rooms spotless and did the laundry! This was amazing to me as I got home with a suitcase full of clean clothes for my family of 5. They were also great with the kids (as was everyone there) and played with them and took them on a walk through the nearby park.
Ralston helped around the grounds and house and was patient with helping my 5 year old fish for the first time.
Junior, our driver for the week, went above and beyond trying to find certain things (a certain type of fish) and recommending excursions.
I would recommend bringing lots of cash (grocery takes credit but lots of smaller places it’s easier if you have cash). Cash is also needed for any preordered groceries, etc.
Also lots of sunscreen of course and bug spray for mosquitos at night.
I would love to return one day, this was by far the nicest VRBO I’ve stayed in and we felt truly spoiled by the staff and we are thankful we had he opportunity to visit this beautiful home and island.
Had a Wonderful time
A truly wonderful stay, the staff took great care of us. Hope to come back again soon!
the staff makes this place...
What a wonderful experience we had at the house! We were greeted by the entire staff of 5! They were very welcoming and did not let us lift a finger, Carl is amazing and made us feel right at home. He was always there to help but never intruded...only when we asked him to join in!! He is truly the key to that house running so smoothly. Ken the chief prepared some wonderful meals including freshly caught red snapper...request this when you are there!
Ralston was always around to pitch in and do whatever is needed to keep things running...we truly enjoyed spending time with him. Daphnie and Carlene were jems---our rooms were immaculate, laundry done, and beds turned down,...they were also so personable and you felt right t home with them. You can tell this is "'their house" and they take pride in taking such good care of it.
Really you could take this house and plop it anywhere in the caribbean but the staff truly make this house! The beach out front is very small/non existent but the kayaks are a great addition. So the house, the pool and the staff are the whole package. We rented the "neighbors" yacht one day which was a real treat. Captain Lab took us on a great tour of the island and snorkeling....we rented the boat for 3 hours and that was just perfect!
We did go out to dinner a few nights but for almost all meals we were at the house. I just had a few concerns....keep in mind we have rented houses like this with staff in Mexico with a little different set up. We brought cash for tips and like most Americans thought we could use our credit cards for everything else (like we did in Mexico). We were given a list of grocery items from Julie in advance we wanted to have on hand, and aso picked out first lunch and dinner menu. From that point she said we would talk with the chief...which we did and found out we already had a $1400 food bill that needed to be paid in cash. We had no problem paying for the food, drinks we ordered and snakcs but thought we could put it on a card or the added to the "bill" at the end of the trip----again like we did in Mexico with a similar set up. Well it seems most places in Jamacia only want cash. We then went to the grocery store 2 times and were able to charge out food/drinks...which ws fine. We just found ourselves out of cash early in the trip, and very few working acash stations...which was stressful for us. Please tell us ahead we need to bring more cash.
