Great Cabin in a Great Location for a Family Stay

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Eagle's Nest cabin, and would certainly stay again. We found the cabin to be ideally located, centrally between the Dollywood/Splash Country parks and downtown Pigeon Forge. The location - on a dead-end overlooking Pigeon Forge - also was great for privacy of not having cars constantly driving by. We stayed with 3 adults (Mother, Father, and Grandmother) and 3 children (11, 4, and 1 years old). We stayed for a week in late May/early June, including Memorial Day weekend.

The cabin is on a wooded hillside, so there is not really any outdoor play area - but the large screened porch with hot tub meant we could enjoy the feeling of outdoors without the bugs, and with containment for the little ones.

The cabin IS a cabin - so expectations should be tempered as such, as opposed to a condo or upscale hotel room. But all the modern conveniences are present: A/C, 2 bathrooms, dishwasher, stove, refrigerator, hot tub, clothes washer and dryer. There is a fireplace and heat also, although we didn't use them. There is a master bedroom on the entry level (which was great for us so that Grandmother didn't need to climb any stairs) with TV, along with full master bath, laundry cubby, living room with another TV, and kitchen with dining nook. Off this entry level is the screened porch/deck, which overlooks Pigeon Forge and has another table, the hot tub, and doors to the living room and also the master bedroom. Upstairs is another full bedroom (no TV) with a large closet, a large full bathroom, and a game room with a small pool table, TV, a loveseat and chair, and bunk beds. Those bunk beds in this room were perfect for our 11 and 4 year old - they loved sleeping there.

Also on the second floor is a railing along the hole where the stairs come up - good for blocking adults and larger children from falling through, but the balusters were too far apart to trust our 1-year-old to toddle around up there without a close eye. This wasn't a big issue for us, as we spend most of our time downstairs in the living room and deck.

We thought the beds were fairly comfortable, and that the cabin was overall pretty clean and well maintained. There are a few small scuffs, dings, abrasions, and such to be found throughout, but nothing that bothered us significantly. Again - it IS a cabin, after all. The hosts were quite responsive to us when we called to ask a question, and seemed like very nice people.

Cabin nestled 2 miles from Dollywood

  • 2 of 5

the home owners were real easy to work with.

first, I had to make accommodations that would allow pets, when I didn't bring the pets with me, we worked around the pet fee.. I wanted to add an extra night and show up a day early, they made that happen at the last minute.

the cabin is aged and wants for updating, yet it's clean. it has a great view of the mountains and pigeon forge right from the back deck.. I found the rental fee very reasonable, and the home owners very responsive, and as I said, easy to work with..

Don't pass this one up!

  • 5 of 5

Would definitely recommend this rental. It is very convenient to everything, just off Teaster Lane. From the back deck, you can hear some road noise, but certainly not a bad thing for the convenience of the location. There are other houses in the area, but well spaced out. We didn't see or hear the neighbors all week. Very quiet and peaceful. The hot tub is completely private as the deck is surrounded by trees. You can't see the other houses or Teaster Lane from this area. If you want a convenient location in Pigeon Forge and privacy, this is the place. Dawn is easy to work with and responds quickly.

NOT IMPRESSED

  • 1 of 5

This cabin is very outdated and has not had maintainance in a long time. Its needs a make over real bad and the beds are falling apart. I cut my hand on the upstairs bed foot board where the metal rods use to be. The mattresses are worn out you can feel the springs in your back. I could not get our 65 mustang in the driveway because its so steep and the pipes rub the ground. When you flush the upstairs toilet you smell it in the downstairs bathroom. The pool table is junk, the rails are busted and felt is torn and the games are missing pieces so the game room was a big let down for the kids. No TV in upstairs bedroom. I have been staying in cabins in this area for 30 years and this is the worst one that i have stayed in.

Owner's Response: So sorry the cabin did not meet your expectations. Our cabin is an older home and doesn't compare to a brand new modern cabin in the area. It is "AS" posted in the pictures on our website. The air condition, roof, washer, dryer, refrigerator and dishwasher are a year old. We try to make our cabin cozy and clean and have lots of repeat business year to year. This is the first bad review I have had in over a year after I let our last cleaners go. Reviews before and after your stay are excellent. The mattresses are less than 5 years old and the bunk beds were updated this winter. I will check into the broken post as this is the first I have heard of this. Our pool table is an old table and is not a professional table but the table was re felted last year along with the balls and pool sticks. We have three TV's in the house. One in living area, downstairs bedroom and the loft area. You are correct there isn't one in the bedroom upstairs and we don't advertise that there is one there. Unfortunately we have lots of children that visit and it is impossible to make sure every game piece is in each box each time. I am sorry your children where disappointed! When the cabin was rented it was rented as 4 adults and no children so I am a bit confused. I have never had problem smelling one toilet to the other toilet, we are on city sewer so I will be sure to check with the city. We are in the mountains and our driveway is a bit steep but we manage to get our Honda Accord in the driveway and other cars as well. I have never had anyone not able to park in the driveway. The driveway is a semi circle so you can pull straight in and out. Sorry it didn't workout with your car. With you being a 45 year old man I am sorry that you consider our cabin the worst one out of your 30 years. We try to make all our guest happy with the accommodations but I am sorry you were not satisfied. We along with family and been vacationing here for the twelve years we have had the cabin and always enjoy it so please accept my apology and I wish you the best of luck in your future renting in the area.
