About Marcia Barnett

Our family lived on the Cape for 3 years when daughter Amelia was 2. We love the water and especially St. Joseph Bay. It is one of very few bays of this size in the country that is 100% salt water. We love kayaking, paddle boarding, boating, skiing, and the clear skies at night. Our dog especially loves kayaking and whines endlessly if we launched without her. I eventually resettled in South Florida and my Amelia is now attends a fine arts college in NYC. But the Cape will always be a special to us - there is no other place like it. If you've been there, you know. If you haven't, you're in for a treat. I have put lots of TLC in Amelia by the Bay and hope you'll give it a try.

Marcia Barnett purchased this house in 1999

Why Marcia Barnett chose Florida Main North West

Privacy, natural surroundings, and easy access to the bay and beach.

What makes this house unique

Very Private, fishing off of the dock, kayaking and scalloping in the bay. Very well-kept by myself and my wonderful innkeeper, Cathy.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The house and property was great.

We had a great vacation at the Amelia on the Bay. The kitchen was well stocked with plenty of pots, pans and dishes to cook meals. The bathrooms were also well stocked with plenty of towels as well as beach towels. We loved that there were kayaks and paddle boards to use. We made daily kayaking trips in the bay. We also loved traveling down to the state park to go to the beach and to go snorkeling. All of our family enjoyed our stay.

Never Disappointed

This is the fourth time my family has stayed here. Perfect location on the beautiful bay and a short walk to the beach. Amelia has plenty of room and is well stocked with kayaks and stand up paddle boards. Cape San Blas is a beautiful place and Amelia by the Bay is the perfect place to stay while you explore the area.

We had an awesome week. The house and amenities left nothing to be desired. We spent most of the week on the bay. Fishing was great with trout and flounder. The dock is perfect for launching kayaks or just enjoying the sun and scenery. We made good use of the kayaks and paddle boards and saved rental fees. We took our own life jackets, but there was no need. Everything was provided. The screened in hammock made a perfect resting place. The house is beautiful, updated, clean and extremely comfortable. Large screened TVs available if you have time for TV, which we didn't. The washer was great, much better than you normally find in vacation homes. It is truly a home with personality. One can tell the owners take great pride in this property. They also check with you during your stay to make sure all is well. That is rare for many rentals. We have been coming to the Cape for 20 years and this is our favorite place on the bay. Plan to return soon!

We had a wonderful week at Amelia on the Bay. I can't say enough about the beauty of the surroundings, tastefully decorated clean home, well-equipped kitchen, provision of beach towels (they take up a lot of room if you are flying in!). The house is spacious- we had 4 people but easily could have accommodated more. The kitchen was a joy to cook in with great pots and pans, lot of dishes and glassware. There were some helpful pantry essentials available- salt and pepper, cooking oil, spices, coffee filters, sugar. Wonderful access to the bay and the screen house, and the walk to the gulf beach is easy as well. Having kayaks and SUP included to use at the house was a huge savings and very fun- last year we stayed at the state park and rented this equipment and it was quite expensive. Proximity to the state park is nice, the bike/ walking trail is right down the driveway (although we could never hear traffic). For those who want to still be tuned in, there is internet and TV, a land line, and good cell phone service. Marcia was delightful to deal with from booking, to confirming, to letting us know the house was available a little longer if we wanted it. I coordinated this trip for me and my husband, and another couple, and they have already asked that I book again for next year.
