Why Jacqueline Williams chose Cupar
I was fortunate to be able to take on this exciting opportunity to breathe life back into a shell of a building which had not been occupied for many years. To be able to transform it into a charming, cosy, traditional weaver's cottage set in the quiet rural surroundings of North Fife. A wealth of both traditional and modern furnishings complement the vaulted ceilings, original exposed walls and wood burning stove. The cottage offers comfortable accommodation for families and friends wishing to explore the historic university city of St Andrews, access world class golf courses or see the beautiful Fife coast.
What makes this Cottage unique
Perhaps the most breath taking feature of Carters Cottage is the use of innovative architecture and design to preserve the light and space that was traditionally an essential part of a weaver’s cottage whilst at the same time offering modern amenities. The cottage is situated within the grounds of Bridgend House, but is private and self-contained, with its own sun trap flagstone patio and access to the beautiful walled garden beyond.

We were delighted with the cottage. Jackie was very welcoming and showed us where everything was. The accommodation was very well appointed and we enjoyed our stay so much we have already booked to stay again.
Wow!! Stunning, relaxing, homely, could not ask for more, already made enquiries to return, a fabulous host who made us feel very welcome indeed, informative and most helpful...Loved our stay very much.
Great Cottage and great host
We feltl at home in this beautiful cottage the minute we stepped through the door. Jackie is a great host, and her freshly baked scones were a lovely touch and delicious.
The cottage is immaculate, spacious and very tastefully renovated. The gardens are beautifully kept and we were lucky enough to have great weather to sit out and enjoy our surroundings.
We visited for the Highland Games in Ceres and had a great time. Everyone was so friendly and there was always something to do.
All in all, we had a wonderful stay and hope to return to Carters Cottage in the future.
Beautiful cottage with very welcoming host
We had a lovely stay in this beautiful, cosy well equipped cottage. Jackie was very welcoming and made us feel at ease straightway. She brought over a lovely plate of freshly baked scones which was such a treat.
The beds and bedding were very comfortable and felt really luxurious.
Lovely area too and only 15 mins to St. Andrews.
Thank you so much for a wonderful stay.
Great cottage, quick ride to St. Andrews.
Beautifully renovated cottage with a lovely garden and easy access to St Andrews and greater Fife. Stayed for three nights and would stay again. Great host!
Perfect place to spend a rainy week!
This is a beautiful cottage - a tastefully restored weaver's cottage - in an extensive mature garden. Inside it's bright and comfortable with contemporary furnishings and a wood burning stove. The compact modern kitchen makes cooking and eating very enjoyable. In such comfortable surroundings, we were content and enjoyed a gentle, relaxing week despite the persistent rain.
