This newly renovated house has the best of both worlds as it overlooks both a freshwater pond and the ocean beyond. Most of the rooms benefit with spectacular views. The interior is bright and and comfortable. Three bedrooms with one double bed and two queen beds. A large, furnished deck is perfect for cooking outdoors in the sunshine.
A pathway leads to the pond behind the house where many beautiful birds make their home. Two swans grace the pond along with many ducks and other waterfowl. One mile away is Indian Pond Beach which guests may use with a parking sticker which is supplied. A short drive northward takes you to Plymouth Plantation, the town of Plymouth and the Mayflower II. There is also whale watching, deep sea fishing and many shops and restaurants available in the area. Several miles south you will be on Cape Cod.
This home was left to us when our good friends passed away. We live only one mile from the property so renting the property has worked out well.
We are close by so are available to answer questions or help with a problem if one should arise...
This house was wonderful for the needs of our two families traveling together. A semi circle drive in front of the house with a fence allowed ample parking for our two vehicles but would accommodate more. The house was very clean and fully stocked with all necessary items, including linens, pillows, paper products and a welcoming bouquet of flowers also. The main floor consisted of a couple of small rooms (tv and living room) in addition to a laundry, bathroom, kitchen with breakfast nook and sun room that had amazing views in the morning. There was ample seating for all members of our party in the house and on the deck. The three bedrooms on the second floor were spacious and had everything that anyone could need. The beds were very comfortable and all the rooms had space to hang clothes as well as place in drawers. All receive early morning sunshine in part due to skylights. The fourth bedroom is in the basement which the kids loved and also had a view of the ocean. Most of the house has either hard wood or linoleum on the floors. The only draw backs to the house were the steep steps going to the second floor and lots of mosquito's in the evenings. The owner even provided citronella candles that helped and had the beautiful deck on the back wrapped in Christmas lights for a wonderful glow in the evenings. It was a perfect location for trips down to the Cape, into downtown Plymouth and up to Boston. The kitchen is well stocked which is good since there are not a lot of restaurants in the immediate area. As we traveled and did excursions each day, that wasn't really an issue for us. The beach access provided is a short drive but is for a rocky beach. A sandy beach is just a few minutes further away. We had a great time and thank them for everything!
My sister, daughter and I recently stayed in this lovely home for a much needed vacation. The house was very spacious and just seemed to keep going on forever. We had a good time playing games on the sun porch and enjoyed the beautiful view in the comforts of air conditioning. I think we picked the hottest week in July to go, so we did not get to spend much time on the large back deck. When we did use the deck, unfortunately, the serenity was broken by the stream of cars going by the main road in front of the house. But, this is a small price to pay for such a view.
As to the kitchen, I don't believe I have ever rented a place that was as well stocked with all the pots, pan, gadgets, utensils, etc. that you can think of. The bedrooms were large with plenty of space to put your clothing. The only downside I saw to them was that the shades let a lot of light in as did the sky lights. The room that is pictured with the view had no shades so when the sun came up in the morning you were pretty much blinded by the light. As you can tell, I like it dark when I sleep, but that is just a personal preference and I know others don't mind light. Just thought I would mention this in case you are like me.
The owner's were great to work with. I had several correspondences with Gayle before our trip and she provided me with some good suggestions for places to eat. One place we stumbled across on our own was called Diane's and was excellent!
I would definitely recommend staying here!
Our family just enjoyed a fabulous week in this beautiful view home! We all slept in comfortable beds, cooked our meals on the gas grill overlooking a pond with swans and Cape Cod Bay, played games, watched movies, listened to the birds in the morning....oh, and we wandered away once in a while to places like Provincetown, the Cape Cod National Seashore, Plimouth Plantation and the Mayflower II. But mostly we unwound together in this terrific house. When you stay here you are 45 minutes from historic Boston, 15 minutes from Cape Cod, and worlds away from any stress you may have left at home. The pictures do not do justice; this is a real gem! The communication with the hosts is terrific, and they have even thoughtfully placed a discount card to the local grocery store on the key ring for your use. There are plenty of restaurants around if cooking's not your thing, but not us - a kitchen with a view like this needs to be used! The house would work well for couples traveling together or for families; lots of bed space and two large bathrooms with great showers. The air conditioning works perfectly to keep you cool in the hottest parts of the day. You'll have a great vacation here!!
We stayed here in October, 2011; Tom and Gayle were super hospitable- whatever you need they are there to provide it! The colors were beautiful, the house warm and comfortable, the sunrise over the water each morning was spectacular. We set out in a different direction everyday- This is the perfect location for sightseeing in Boston, Plymouth and the Cape. We did it all- including Martha’s vineyard. We highly recommend anyone to take this vacation- you too will have warm and special memories of the Boston/Cape Cod area and this special house- which really does have the best of both worlds.
Traveling with four children under the age of 8, it is important for us to feel at home. Tom and Gayle's place in Plymouth felt like home the minute we stepped into it. You would have thought the kids lived in this house all their life with the way they "moved" right in. The location was perfect for our short forays into Plymouth between naps and was also an easy trip to the Cape for sightseeing. Watching the sunrise each morning over the bay from the upstairs bedroom or the deck was amazing. The kids already want to know when we will be going back. When we do, we will stay at Tom and Gayle's. I have rented from VRBO often and Tom and Gayle have been the easiest and nicest to work with. They were able to extend our stay for a couple of days when bad weather hampered our plans at the beginning of the week. Everything was top notch. Thanks for a wonderful "Pilgrim"age to Plymouth.
My mother and I stayed in this lovely house for a
week last summer, and we really enjoyed it. The
views of the water are amazing, the house is
spotless and very comfortable, and it is convenient
to the beach. I would highly recommend this house
to anyone interested in enjoying the Plymouth area.
We're going back this summer for two weeks!
America's Home Town of Plymouth offers many historical attractions such as Plymouth Plantation and Plymouth Rock. Just over the Cape Cod Canal..the beautiful Town of Sandwich is a must see! The Sandwich Glass Museum, Heritage Gardens Museum, Hoxie House (oldest house on the Cape), Grist Mill and many, many more interesting places to see. Don't forget the whale watch which leaves out of Plymouth Harbor! Boston is one hour north...the tip of Cape Cod (Provincetown) is also a one hour drive.
