Great place with nice details
You could tell this was a home, not just a sterile rental. It had the details that make a place comfortable. Thanks!
We liked the fact that it was very private and far from crowded resorts, yet in a great location for exploring the island.
If you scuba Pebbles beach is off the charts with sea life.
We found the local food in captain cook to be delicious and affordable with great service.
The house is well equipped with beach gear and great kitchen.
This was the first time to the Big Island and really enjoyed this home, thank you very much for a great experience!!
Everything we were hoping for our Big Island vacation
We spent 8 wonderful days at Mala A Kai on Hawaii's Big Island. The house was very comfortable and clean, and provided all of the dishes and utensils we needed to make our own delicious meals. It's walking distance from Pebble Beach, where we enjoyed several beautiful sunsets. We spent our days exploring the surrounding area (favorites included Ho'okena Beach, Kealakekua Bay, and Volcanoes National Park) and our evenings enjoying the view and the friendly geckos on the lanai. Heidi from Vacasa was very helpful with some small issues that came up during our stay. If you're looking for a quiet (you can hear the ocean!), well-equipped vacation home that is located near some of the coolest beaches on the Big Island, try out Mala A Kai!
Clean, well-maintained, relaxing, and included everything we needed for a great family vacation!
This home was comfortable, very clean, well-maintained, and stocked with everything we needed. Directions to the best local beaches and fruit stand, snorkel gear and beach towels available, and located a little closer to the volcano (than the more populated Kona area) made for a very relaxing but also adventure-filled week for our family! The outdoor grill and stocked kitchen helped us keep our expenses down. Within walking distance of Pebble Beach, where we enjoyed hiking and saw a whale just offshore. Great place for families!
Wonderful getaway house with great views
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this well-kept house on the southwest side of the island. We had a beautiful ocean and sunset view. The house is very comfortable, roomy, and clean.
Special note: this house had the most comfortable beds we have ever encountered in 7 years of staying in VRBOs. Great extra amenities including ice chest, snorkeling equipment, boogie boards, and travel books (great variety).
Although located 20 minutes from a grocery store, we liked the location for visiting the Kona Coast to the north and for getting to Kilauea, beaches, and small towns on the south side of the Big Island (don’t miss the Punalu’u Bakery in Naalehu).
We also appreciated the very attentive management. Our questions were always answered quickly.
Beyond Excellent Home!!
My family of five (including myself) took a trip to the Big Island for a total of five days, we figured we needed enough room for us to live comfortably. Upon searching the internet for days to find the right house, we came across this one and boy do we not regret it! When we got to Hawaii and the house we were taken away of how clean and well equipped it was. Not to mention the geckos roaming around the house (hardly any mosquitos since that was their dinner) and the views from the porch were incredible. It was so convenient how there was a pebble beach right down the street; so easy to walk and snorkel. Let's not forget the house also had many things such as boogie boards, a canopy (to take to the beach), beach chairs, sunscreen, beach towels, snorkel equipment, water shoes, ice chest, and so much more to offer! The AC worked incredibly well in all of the rooms and was definitely needed because of the humidity. Overall, it was a great place to stay and I recommend it to anyone. If I have the chance to visit the Big Island again I won't forget to book this place!
