Tom&Jan Nielsen purchased this Apartment in 2001
Why Tom&Jan Nielsen chose Carrollton
We were needing a property within an easy drive to Atlanta's airport at the time Jan was a Delta flight attendant. Carrollton was one of the locations we explored and simply fell in love with it. The 1880's all masonry building was available so on 9-11-2001 - yes that very day - we signed the purchase papers. We did a complete renovation of both levels. The area which is now the first floor rental apartment was originally home to our studios. We later acquired the building next door and moved them there. It might be of interest that in the 1950's, Georgia's oldest bookstore (Horton's) was located in these spaces. It has now moved around the corner, but we still share a back wall with it.
What makes this Apartment unique
The building is one of the original brick buildings in down town Carrollton. It has been home to a variety of businesses including Hortons Bookstore - Georgia's oldest. As well, it was home to a cotton grading company, which graded the bails brought to town for rail shipment a half mile south and a variety of other businesses. It's location makes it perfect for exploring the west Georgia are. With plenty of fine restaurants, bars and entertainment nearby, it's the perfect place to call home for a few days or weeks.

Though the property is located in the heart of downtown Carrollton, it is not far to many interesting attractions. The Greenbelt park surrounding the city offers great walking, jogging and biking activities. The Carrollton Center for the Arts is only a block away with its live theater, concerts and visual arts exhibitions. Carrollton's outdoor covered AMP has summer-long entertainment events. Great football can be seen every fall at the University of West Georgia, not to speak of the great High School sporting events. Further afield, Mill Town Theater in Bremen features big name music stars, Historic Banning Mills features the tallest zip line in America. Plus all that Atlanta has to offer is just an hour's drive.
