My fiance and I stayed here at the end of March. The home was nice and most of it was as advertised. It feels quite new and sophisticated on the interior, so that made our evenings at home more enjoyable.
What put the damper on our stay was the fact that we felt deliberately misled by the home owners and the property manager, Susan Hood, about a few points regarding the property. When we addressed these issues at length to Susan in an e-mail, we heard absolutely no response, which was disappointing because she had been rather easy to get in touch with earlier.
-Long stretches of Myrtle Beach are under NO SWIM advisories due to the high level of bacteria in the ocean. When I asked Susan if this affected our portion of the beach, she said they haven't had any troubles with it, and she hoped it stayed that way. That was a week or two before we checked in. When we arrived and took the street to the beach, we could see the permanent NO SWIM sign immediately, and it was one in a long line of signs in both directions. I'm not sure if Susan didn't know the beach was under an advisory or tried to hide it from us, but neither point looks good;
-The home didn't have wi-fi we could access. The owners may have had their own router, but we were not given the password, which was a disappointment because my fiance and I both hoped to catch up on work while we were there. While there is technically wi-fi in the park, it was not only at a location several blocks away, but it was basically useless. My phone couldn't detect the network, and another man with a laptop said it was a shoddy connection. I wish some note about this had been included in the ad for the home;
-There were two different policies for use and care of the linens: the rental agreement says one thing, and a note in the closet from the homeowners said something else. Since my signature was on the rental agreement, I decided to follow those guidelines, but the confusion was irritating and seemed unnecessary;
-A new, similar home was being constructed in the lot next to ours, which meant that as early as 7:30 in the morning, we heard hammering and sawing and drilling and the idle chatter of workers literally a few feet from our bedroom window. Not terrible, but this took away from the quiet, relaxing vacation we were hoping to have.
These are the points which we had felt misled about, and as I said, when I mentioned them to Susan, we got no response.
We were pleased with this home. It's a very nice and clean home in a quiet section of Ocean Lakes. I wouldn't hesitate to stay again!
This is a very nice place! Very quite and very clean. We had such a wonderful time and Cindy is fantastic! Looking forward to staying again!
This is the 2nd year that we have had a girls weekend at Ocean Lakes. The house is awesome and Cindy is the best! Such a pleasure to work with and talk to. Hope we can stay again next year. Thanks Cindy for sharing your home!
We stayed here Memorial Day week 2014. My husband and 2 kids, ages 2 & 11. The house was very spacious and VERY nice especially for the price. We have stayed in several houses in Ocean Lakes and this was by far the nicest one we've stayed in. Plus the owners are super nice and very accommodating. . My only complaint would be that there's no golf cart and you have to rent one from the campground. But we will definitely try to stay here again and would highly recommend it.
My family and I stayed for Thanksgiving and 2 birthdays. There were 7 of us that stayed, and we had tons of room. All of the appliances and fixtures were high-end. We had so much to do at Ocean Lakes as well. It's a great place to go for a family because it's very family-oriented. We loved everything about the house. We used the kitchen to the max. We cooked our whole Thanksgiving dinner with no complications!!! And the downstairs patio area was awesome with the TV and grill. We wouldn't have changed anything!!! The pictures don't do the house justice. The house far and exceeded the pictures!!! We loved the house, and didn't want to leave!!! We will definitely go back!!!
Thanks so much for this enjoyable experience!!!
