Highly Recommended Location
This place is absolutely perfect to get away in WV. Close to every, but secluded. Updated with ample space. Having a washer and dryer was a HUGE plus! Joey and Elsie were quick to answer any questions I had. Don't miss out on this place!
Hidden Gem in West Virginia!
If you are looking for hustle and bustle, this place is NOT for you. But if you are looking for a peaceful, private house to "unplug" that is close to the New River Gorge attractions, look no further. Our family of 4 including 2 teenagers rented this house for a week in August and we absolutely loved it! The house sits way back on the horse farm down a long loose stone road and is surrounded by fields and forrest. Three of the bedrooms and one bathroom are on the top floor with the 4th bedroom and 2nd bathroom on the lower floor. The house has a well appointed and supplied kitchen and bathrooms. There is satellite tv but no wifi (there is a phone signal though). The central A/C works very well throughout the house. We enjoyed visits from the horses every night in the back yard, the hot tub on the deck, and a sunset view from the top of the field that is breathtaking. The caretakers (Elsie and Joey) are amazing!...they are extrememly attentive, responsive and personable... and their hospitality is unmatched! I can't say enough great things about this rental. Highly recommended!
Cute, clean & friendly!
We LOVED our stay! The home was warm and welcoming, and the owners went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable including having dog supplies there for us (we brought our dog!). Communication was fast and friendly! We enjoyed whitewater rafting and ziplining at Adventures on the Gorge (great place!) and did some hiking, beach visiting and exploring of local restaurants. Everything was within 15-20 mins, but we were out in the peaceful country when we got home! This is obviously a well taken care of home and the owners value their visitors. Thank you for your hospitality ♡
Great house for vacation.
If you are not used to the country, you will be pleasantly surprised. Location is safe and private. Whippoorwill is the name of the house. Name very appropriate as my family could sit on the back porch and listen to the whippoorwills call to each other. Another welcome surprise were the lightning bugs. Right at dusk (again on the back porch), the lightning bugs (fireflies) would begin to rise out of the grass and really put on a show. (My family are country folk raised on a farm) Even so we really enjoyed this location. The house is very nice and clean. We made good use of the washer and dryer, butane grill, the hot tub, and especially the back porch. Talked to Joey (owner) and he allowed us to walk up a nearby hill to watch a sunset across the mountains. Very impressive view. Deer walking across pasture near the house. Joey is easy to work with. He allowed us to change our arrival date on short notice. He gave us plenty of good info on local attractions. His house is centrally located to many points of interest. House is located within 10 miles of two state parks and the new river gorge bridge. Close to Fayettville (supplies and fast food) and Beckley (Coal mine tour). As for the hot tub. It is located on the side porch where you can enjoy the hot tube, watch the moon rise over the mountains, look at the night sky, and tell scary stories to the grand kids. Tub is in a private area . Closest neighbor is Joey and his house is at least a 1/4 mile away with a barn and trees in between. (House is located at the end of the road.) Downstairs has one bedroom and one bath. Washer and dryer are also downstairs. No noise problem when washing clothes. We used the 3 bedrooms upstairs and both bathrooms. Our party included my wife and I, plus our three teenage grandsons. All of us had a great time and will definitely return to this location when we vacation in West Virginia.
Very home like
Stayed for a long weekend to go white water rafting and boating. We traveled less than 20 minutes to everything we needed. The cabin was great very clean plenty of space for 7. Nice outdoor seating areas. Wood for a fire was provided. Hot tub was nice and clean. Would definitely stay again.
located on beautiful farmland - huge house - clean and spacious
