About Carol Ayer
We purchased this property from some friends who were moving to Mexico so they sold it furnished. We have 6 children (adults) so we are hoping that one of them will eventually purchase it from us. We have had our own family insurance business for about 40 years. My husband Tim has plans to retire in the next couple of years. I was a teacher and have taught every age level from preschoolers to college. I love them all!!! Now I stay home and take care of our first grandbaby. Renting through VRBO is my new job.
Carol Ayer purchased this House in 2018
Why Carol Ayer chose Secessionville Historic District
You will be close to everything while being in a quiet neighborhood near an historic site (Battle of Secessionville, 1862). The back yard is made for enjoying life. The view is one of the best in Charleston.

Carol’s house is a beautiful place with tons of room for a large group of people! The views are great and the outdoor area over looking the marsh is a great place to hang out. It’s a short drive to Charleston and is tucked away in a nice little quiet neighborhood! Definitely recommend this place. Also Carol is quite possibly one of the best host you could ask for. She makes sure you have everything you could possibly need to make the stay fun and relaxing!
Beautiful, relaxing home minutes away from anything!
We had 8 women from several states meet us in Charleston to help celebrate a friend of ours in Folly Beach. Carol’s home was a short 10min drive away in a very nice, quiet neighborhood with spectacular views of the marsh. From the beginning Carol was helpful in sharing restaurant suggestions, travel tips, and reviews of local things. The home was gorgeous, with beautiful, clean bedrooms and comfortable living spaces. For any future plan to visit Charleston, Carol will be the first call I make!!
Beautiful home and views
We had a quick two night stay for a wedding but would have loved to have stayed longer! The house was very comfortable for our two families and had everything we needed. We really enjoyed the views, back yard sitting area and dock. Amenities like wifi, tv’s and plenty of seating was also nice at night to wind down with a house full of kids. Kitchen looked new and had all the necessary items. The manger was very responsive and helpful and the house was very clean. Would recommend.
So glad you enjoyed your stay. Please come back.
Beautiful home in a great location
I stayed in Carol's home with two other adults and three 14 year old teens. We had a great time in the well appointed home and used it as as a jumping off place to get to the beach and explore nearby Charleston. The check in/out process was easy and Carol gave tips on local places to eat and activities.
Thanks for the kind words.
Please come back soon!
The house looked really inviting on arrival.
We really enjoyed our stay. The bedrooms were all very comfy. Our fourteen year old granddaughter really liked having the upstairs bedroom to herself
The house was well supplied with everything we needed although being big tea drinkers we would have liked a kettle. All the personal touches made the house very homey
The grandchildren had great fun on the dock trying to catch crabs and watching the squirrel building it's nest. All in all a great stay. Thanks...
Tea kettle will be there for your next visit!
Glad you enjoyed!
Perfect in Every Way
We stayed in this home for my daughter's wedding. It was spectacular. The views - and especially sunrise - are amazing! The house was perfect for our family of 7 adults. It is spacious, beautifully furnished and the upgraded, well-appointed kitchen is a chef's dream. Comfy beds in all four bedrooms. Just two bathrooms but we managed without any issues. Best feature of this home is the outdoor living area. In the evenings we sipped cocktails and watched the sunset by the fire pit and during the day several members of our party kayaked around the marsh. Plenty of parking for all of our guests. Great family neighborhood tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the city but close to everything. Just a short drive or taxi to downtown Charleston. Our host, Carol, was amazing, eager to please, and responsive to any questions. We definitely plan to stay in this house for any future trips to Charleston!
