The house has a beautiful view of Grande Mere. In the Grande Mere area there are miles of clean sandy beaches, unique sand dunes and woodland areas for hiking and discovering. In Winter, you can walk to sledding, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing opportunities in less than 5 minutes .
My house is a minute walk away from Lake Michigan with miles of public beach and dune area. Grande Mere has gorgeous sunsets and quiet mornings. You will find the peace and relaxation you are looking for, yet we are close to many Sunset Coast towns - 15 minutes to Bridgman, Sawyer, Baroda, and Harbert. Several award wining wineries, breweries, and great restaurants are close by. 20 minutes to New Buffalo and the 4 Winds Casino, also 15 minutes to the communities of Lakeside and Three Oaks. 15 minutes to St. Joseph, 20 minutes to Benton Harbor. We are located off of 1-94 exit 22. Close, but yet a world away.

What makes this Cottage unique
I grew up in this house and have always loved the peace of the beach, woods and dunes. I had an opportunity to take my childhood home and make it a welcoming place for other families to enjoy the serenity of Grande Mere. I made several upgrades while continuing to have the charm that the house and yard can offer. People tell me they feel so at home and welcomed when they are here. My hopes is that you will feel the same way. Randi Wilhelmsen

Lovely vacation home
The house was lovely and comfortable. The kitchen was well-equipped and easy to use. The views from the hilltop were beautiful. I appreciated the nearness of the state park.
Great little get away weekend for our anniversary.
My wife and I loved the older house and the antique furniture. Kudos on the fire pit. We had a surprise visit from our kids and grand kids. We spent the night by a wonderful fire and taking in the beautiful stars. Lake Michigan was as high as I have ever seen it. The waves were crashing into the stairway from the dunes. Some people may be disappointed that the house isn't right on the lake, but it worked well for us. Just short walks to Lake Michigan and Grand Mere Lake playground. I'm sure we will be renting this place again in the near future.
Rod, I am glad that you were able to get away, with a surprise visit from your family. There is plenty of room in the house to enjoy without feeling crowded. You can walk to so many places easily from the house. The fire pit is a newer addition to the property that so many of my guests enjoy. I look forward to having you back, I only rent by the week Memorial Day to Labor Day as a fyi.
A charming house loaded with character. A perfect place to stay and enjoy Grand Mere.
Thank you for your review of the house in Grande Mere. Even on a cold weekend the house is cozy and inviting for your group. I am glad that you were still able to enjoy the nature around Grande Mere.
It was close to Lake Michigan and Grand Mere Lake but views of both are obstructed by other homes
House was clean and quaint. Neither fireplace worked and repairs could not be arranged until after we left . Disappointed. Needs outlets in upstairs bathroom. One tiny plug near ceiling would not accommodate my hairdryer plug . House was cold even with heat set at 72 . Minor repairs need addressing such as back door knob coming off in our hand and dining room chairs with wobbly legs .
House in good location. Near warren dunes and st Joseph. As well as wineries. Enjoyed the area very much
I appreciate the time you took to write a review. I know you were disappointed in the fireplaces not working. I sent you a message as soon as I found out from the previous guests that they were experiencing an issue after a very windy night. The fireplaces are now fixed as the repair person came on their first availability. I have also fixed the door handle. I will need to look at the chairs to see what's going on there, thank you for letting me know. I know upstairs bathroom has no outlets, but there is an outlet in the downstairs bathroom for appliances. I am glad that you could enjoy the location of the house and that everything was clean.
Stayed during the spring break. It was a bit chilly outside, but we enjoyed everyday hiking in the dunes of the State Park, especially my kids and the dog. The house is charming, very comfortable, big enough to let the family of four to relax in peace. A special thank to Randi for letting us to bring our pets. It gave our vacation a different taste - without common sensation of fault about leaving them in the boarding structure. We enjoyed every minute! Definitely would like to return! Thank you!
Anasta, I am so glad you and your family (and dog) could be together on what was a chilly first week in April. The dunes are a short 5 minute walk from the house, so you could be back home and have a cup of tea or Hot Chocolate and warm up by the fireplace. It would be wonderful to have your group back for another trip.
Wonderful winter weekend!
This lovely home was the perfect spot to celebrate the new year - immaculate, charming and tons of snow all around! We hope to stay there again
Thank you for staying at the Grande Mere house during the holiday weekend. I am so glad that you found the house cozy and charming during a wintery stay. We are getting lots of snow, but I keep the driveway plowed for my guests as much as possible. I hope that you will make a new reservation. Thank you Randi Wilhelmsen
