After having the logs delivered from Montana, my late husband and I started building the Cabin. We had the structure built, and the roof in place and then we took over. We did all of the interior with help from our ski school buddies, who were the pros. It was a 3 year project, starting with us sleeping on a matress before we had a roof, using the “facilities” in the Ranch House, a thousand runs to the hardware store, cooking on a camp stove, using the cooler for our frig, to what you see today. The first night we actually could sit on furniture, have a fire in the fireplace, eat a meal cooked on a real stove, and not be surrounded by lumber and drywall dust, we both cried. This Cabin has seen family dinners, friends for the weekend, grandchildren building a luge off the front porch and snowmen galore. We have had the best of times and then the worst, when we discovered that my husband, John, had cancer. Over the entrance to the dining room, you will see the sign, “The House that John Built”. Believe it. He was the collector of the beautiful western art, and it is all here for you to enjoy. If you look over the fireplace, you will see “The Forest Has Eyes” by Bev Doolittle. It has 13 hidden faces. Can you find them all? It is my hope that you can find the peace that we felt every time we walked in the front door. We always said that we could just go “ahhh” each time. I still come here and I still find my peace. I do not open my room to guests so I can keep my personal memories and treasures separate. I do hope that you love our home and I ask that you raise a glass to “The House That John Built”.

Absolutely terrific. We loved our stay here.
Cozy, comfortable, convenient and more. This wonderful cabin not far from Mt. Rainier was the perfect refuge at the end of our busy day. A great fireplace and outside fire pit were terrific gathering spots for our family. And the beautifully and amply stocked kitchen made it easy for any chef to prepare a gourmet meal for tired travelers. Impeccably maintained and super comfortable furnishings from sitting areas, to the bedrooms to the baths. There are so many things to enjoy here -- hot tub, amazing TV alcove, outdoor grill. We did not have enough time here to take advantage of all the amenities. And, all of this is made even better by the gracious and ready-to-help host, Clare. What a wonderful spot. Thank you for letting us use you lovely cabin.
Thank you, Bill. Please come back anytime. You were a perfect guest!
I have been renting from HomeAway for 10+ years, and this is by far one of the best I’ve ever stayed at. Warm and inviting home and the bottle of wine was a fantastic touch. Comfortable for my family of 5 with three grown kids. The loft and the leather recliner was my favorite spot! I dare you to sit there and not be there for an hour. 110% recommend!! I will be back.
Thank you so very much , Heidi. I so wanted it to be a special place for you and your family. I hope you do come back and stay longer. The longer you stay, the “ relaxer” you get!
Charming, well-appointed cabin near Crystal Mountain
We loved our stay at the log cabin. The cabin is very spacious with cozy corners every where, inside and out. The kitchen was great for cooking with everything one needs to cook for a hoard. We were very close to Crystal Mountain and enjoyed the great outdoors, as well as the gondola ride. Clare was very responsive and helpful and anticipated all our needs. I would highly recommend the cabin! Just wonderful!
Thank you so much for choosing my cabin for your stay near Mt. Rainier. You were wonderful guests and I sincerely hope you will stay with us again. How was the race, by the way?
Beutiful Relaxing Home
Went for a Memorial Day getaway. The home is very nice , comfortable and relaxing. Lots of nice little touches from the antique furnishings to the Western artwork. The owners have thought of everything you could need. The kitchen has every spice you could imagine with a barbeque and hot tub on the back deck. The beds are very comfortable and cozy. The friend I took along has always stayed in hotels so she loved the experience as did I. Will have to come back again ...maybe in the snow.
You were a wonderful guest and I am thrilled that my home met your expectations. I would love to host you again anytime.
Beautiful and cozy cabin close to skiing!
We absolutely LOVED our stay at Clare's cabin! It was cozy, homey and absolutely wonderful. She was clear about directions and booking was a breeze. We had an amazing weekend and enjoyed the fire, the hot tub and cooking in the beautiful kitchen! Would absolutely return. Thanks for everything, Clare!
You are so welcome! Please return in the summer (lower rates) and enjoy all the beautiful hiking. Also, be sure to take the gondola up to the top of the mountain and dine in the shadow of Mt. Rainer.
Charming Crystal Mountain Getaway
We had the best time. The cabin was spacious, clean and with all the amenities. Our host even had a bottle of wine waiting, with a personalized note. The 30 min drive to/from Crystal Mountain was easy, especially at the end of the day, knowing that the hot tub was waiting. Elk were around the property all the time, and it was super cool. Lots of care put into the art and furnishings. :)
So glad you enjoyed the cabin! The elk are frequent visitors and soon,we will see their babies. Please return in the summer for the wonderful hiking in the area and be sure to enjoy the ski area turned in to a Bavarian Village! The flowers are amazing. The summer rate for the cabin is reduced and I hope to see you again.
