Eagle Cottge on a warm summer weekend
Photos cannot convey the magnificent views. I enjoyed my breakfasts & evening wine out on the deck above the water's edge. All my senses were calmed: the sounds of various birds & waves, the cloud formations hovering between distant islands, the wonderful smell of the sound. I could almost taste the refreshing air.
The owners did a grande upgrade on the interior of this 120 plus year old home. Absolutely stunning woodwork throughout. I hope to stay there again.
To put it simply, this place is a gem. Exactly as advertised. Beautiful 180 degree view. Seals playing, eagle landing for a snack, great blue heron looking for breakfast, boats and paddle boarders going by, wonderful sunsets. The interior is well done and very well crafted. Alliances and supplies are in abundance. One shortcoming is that the router is not powerful enough and repeatedly dumped us off. This is easily corrected with a $200 expenditure and does not warrant getting less than five stars, but it was annoying for those of us who needed the internet for email and reading the Seattle Times. We had two couples and it worked splendidly. Plenty of privacy. You cannot go wrong booking this place in the summer!
Thanks for the nice review David. We really appreciate it.
For those concerned about the WiFi issue that David mentions, we actually do have a pretty sophisticated setup. Fiber into the house and a very quick model with most of the latest protocols. But once every couple of months, the WiFi unit will freeze up. All it takes is to pull the plug for a few seconds and then it will go for another 2 or 3 months. Although this is in the house manual, it can be easily overlooked. We are looking into the possibility of being able to remotely re-boot the unit if needed.
Couldn't be any better!
Great place. Can't say enough about it. Beautiful home and a great view. Highly recommended. Well equipped kitchen, which really sets this place apart.
Thank you James. We are glad you had a great time. Hope that we can see you again sometime. Jan
Your home is absolutely wonderful! We loved the view, from out on deck, the living room, upstairs and downstairs!! The location was so convenient, and much quieter than the Alki area (which we loved). We had everything we needed, as you had it all here for us!
We rarely go back to the same place twice, as we are working to get our kids to all 50 states...but this is certainly one we are tempted to revisit!! We've stayed in close to 20 VRBO homes, all of which have been great, but this place tops our list!!! THANK YOU so much for sharing your lovely home with us!!
Thanks Jodi -- We really would like to have you back to visit us in Seattle. When we are traveling, we also have stayed in many VRBO rentals. We know what we like when we travel, and we try to duplicate the best of what we have seen in our place. Jan
Citified Beach House
Great location and view and inviting, interesting home. Second bedroom not for elderly or children as access stairs are precarious.
I asked Robin, our guest, why she had given us such a low review when in her exit email to us she said the house was "Terrific". She responded "Jan I am so sorry. I certainly meant to give you the highest rating. Is there way that I can correct that? It was just a klutzy mistake". VRBO/HomeAway will not allow a review to be changed once submitted.
Addressing Robins concerns: we clearly specify and point out that the house is not for small children, both in the description on VRBO and in our rental agreement we send out. Nor is it handicap friendly as both bedrooms and entry to the house require the use of stairs. Of our 24 pictures presented, 3 of them are of the stairway she mentions.
