This home was completed in 2007 and designed to be a very beautiful and comfortable vacation guest home. Being a 2nd story residence it is very private and secure. Natural light fills all rooms. It was professionally decorated with rattan, hardwood, tile floors and wool rugs. Main floor deck overlooks a small park and has small eating and lounge areas. A spacious view rooftop deck has a large eating area, gas grill and large lounging/sunning area.

We feel Coronado is one of the nicest small towns in the world. Take an evening walk to any of the dozens of restaurants and follow that up with a quiet romantic walk on the beach or a stroll along the bay where you can view the evening lights (nightly fireworks in summer from Sea World) of the downtown San Diego Skyline!

Tranquility Personified!

  • 5 of 5

The owners, Craig and Suzanne, have raised the bar of being a host, by adding kindness and kinship to the top of the list. Their village home with views and privacy is nothing short of perfection. The neighborhood is endearing; the bay, market, restaurants, ferry and shops...all within walking or biking distance. The property is private and tranquil, the unit itself, well designed and cared for. Everything I needed was at my fingertips. Many thanks for your caring welcome and making me feel so much "at home".

An amazing experience for your family.

  • 5 of 5

The property was a temporary home while staying in the area for two months. From the first moment I communicated with Craig he was an absolute gentleman and gracious host. The property is centrally located in a quiet neighborhood in Coronado. I was able to get almost anywhere on a bike which Craig provided for my family and me.

The home is on the second floor and adequately secluded. The photos provided represent the home very accurately. Everything is new and impeccably clean. Craig made sure the home was ready for my arrival and everything was working perfectly. The home's two best attributes are the outdoor spaces. The first has sliding door from the living room and master bedroom. This area was excellent for breakfast and entertaining. The second was a roof top area with lounge chairs, bar stools, grill, table and chairs. I spent most nights overlooking downtown and occasionally watching fireworks.

All appliances functioned perfectly and the kitchen was stocked with everything. My favorite was the fancy blender for smoothies. The kitchen is modern with stone counter tops and a gas stove and electric oven.

The televisions both have Roku boxes and cable but I brought my own Chromecast for everything else I could ever want as far as content is concerned. The internet is great and there is a small desk that fills the need. You can use wifi or ethernet.

Craig, the host, went well out of his way to make sure that everything I needed was on hand and my stay was amazing. He continually stocked the home with detergent, soaps and cleaning supplies. He was more than reasonable with any request I had and went out of his way to make sure my stay was perfect. He found bikes for kids, kid trailers for the bike and helmets as needed. He truly enjoys being a great host. We shared a few drinks over my stay and eagerly await my return.

I would suggest the home to anyone who is looking for a great stay in Coronado. Thanks Craig!

Loved everything about the house and the owners are top notch

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this house for ~5 months in 2015 while I was working temporarily on Coronado Island. We had our two year old daughter and this house was perfect. The appliances are all in great shape (even had a BlendTec!) and the house is impeccable. The location is perfect, you can walk to anywhere and are able to get off and on island easily. The house has two huge decks for getting some sunshine. The garage is stalked with bikes and sporting goods for leisure. We absolutely loved renting this house and will contact this owner for any future trips. The owners are extremely helpful and easy to work with I highly recommend this property.

Excellent Rental

  • 5 of 5

We arrived and were promptly greeted by the owner, who gave us helpful information for our stay. He was always available to assist with additional items that were needed to make our stay more enjoyable. The location is great. Closer to the bayside but an easy walk or beautiful bike ride to the Main Beach. I have stayed at various locations on the island over the years and this by far is my favorite rental.

Exceptional Coronado Home !

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I have rented thru VRBO for many years both in Carlsbad and Coronado. This is absolutely the best place ever! Beautiful space, well designed and maintained, awesome outdoor space (2 large well-furnished spaces with great views) and close to everything.

Clark was a pleasure to do business with and inquired often if there was anything we needed. If you are going to Coronado it would be impossible to find a better place to stay. I was so surprised by the previous review. It's like they must have stayed somewhere else. As for us, we are already planning a longer stay here next year.

A disaster from the start

  • 1 of 5

I'm not one to ever leave reviews, whether good or bad, but in this situation I feel potential renters need to be aware of what they are in for.

The owner of the property was extremely rude, curt, and condescending from the moment I first made contact with him. We have used VRBO dozens of times and have been treated with warmth and care from the get go. This owner was as far from warm and inviting as you can get. His initial email response to our rental inquiry stated if we thought our kids were going to destroy the place then we needed to rent elsewhere. His rudeness was the first red flag. After agreeing to rent from him he promised to get us the rental agreement, we never received it nor heard back from him. I emailed him to tell him we would rent elsewhere given that we hadn't heard from him. He had some excuse as to why he never wrote up our rental agreement and gave us references to prove he was legit. I called the reference and got a good review, and figured it would be okay. When I told him I had sent the check and emailed to make sure he received it his responses were always - will you stop worrying! Days before our trip we hadn't heard anything from him in regards to check in instructions. I emailed him and his response was - the house will be unlocked. That's it! When we arrived I called him and he had no idea who I was. Eventually he figured out who I was and met us at the property.

The stay was fine. The house was satisfactory (although a bit smaller than the photos make it look) There were a few things that were broken - dishwasher was useless, washing machine needed repair, and the propane heaters on the deck were broken. But the unit met our needs. Prior to leaving we tidied up, swept, and left it ready for the cleaners (which we paid for with our cleaning fee). We returned from our trip to an extremely rude and downright judgmental email from the owner telling us he was deducting additional cleaning charges from our deposit because of how dirty the house was. (Mind you he never gave us ANY departure instructions AND we paid a cleaning fee!) But he didn't stop there... he had to go on to tell us we broke the 6 year cleaning record and that he assumed "we have live in help at home" His comments were completely unnecessary and harsh. He said he wanted to end this immediately and that we both should have trusted our instincts from the start in regards to us renting elsewhere.

What an awful way to to end a trip to beautiful San Diego

Owner's Response: Over the 6 years I have used VRBO, I have never had anything less than a 5 star review. I have a couple from Washington State returning for the 3rd time next winter. The summer couple from Arizona are coming for there 7th time. A couple from Hilton Head are coming for their 6th time in Sept. As to this reviewer. My original contacts with her where as my mother lay dying in Virginia. I was using my smartphone. Thus answers were brief and I could not get to a computer to get her the agreement. Upon my return, I gave her 3 references to call and she did. The one she called was glowing. While here, I provided her with a port-a-crib for her baby and toys for her 3 yr. old child. I saw them several times during the week they was here. I always asked if there was anything they needed. They said they were fine. Suzanne and I have had our 4 yr. old grandchild close to 200 over nights and our 18 month old grandchild over 50 nights. Suzanne and I offered to sit for them after they put the kids to bed so they could have a evening out by themselves. They declined nicely stating that they had never had never had a baby sitter and wanted one of their parents to be the first. The washing machine door opens with a good tug and I was awaiting a new latch from Maytag. I did not know the Bosch dishwasher was useless. It ran fine for the maid. I did not know that the propane heater valve was frozen. The heater was immediately replaced. My maid of 20 years called me immediately upon entering the unit. The smell of dirty diapers was very strong. In the master bedroom 35 feet away the trash can was filled over the brim with dirty diapers. Enough said. 7 man hours later this 2 bedroom home was back in shape. I sent the tenant a email informing her I was keeping an $60 of her deposit. She did not feel this was fair since she swept the unit and I did not tell her what I should expect on vacating. I immediately refunded her the entire deposit. I had never kept a penny of a tenants deposit before. I try very hard for everyone's stay to be a wonderful experience. In this case I failed. Sorry, this was the first time in over 6 years. I will work very hard to try to make it the last time!
