It is a delightful place to while away the afternoon or enjoy the sunset warmed by the outdoor fireplace. You'll enter the first floor to a lovely sunken living room with so many windows that you will still be part of the outdoors. Sit in the cozy living room and watch the birds and rabbits cavort right outside your window. Or sit back with a good book or movie chosen from the well stocked library and relax. There is DirecTV and a VCR/DVD provided for your enjoyment. There is wifi connection and a desk for you to work at.
The kitchen is complete with full oven, microwave, dishwasher, two cook tops, large refrigerator and is completed with all the dishes, pots and pans, small appliances, and linens you'll need. Just off the kitchen is a pantry with a full size washer and dryer. Also on the ground floor is a full bath and a dining area with a rustic table and 6 chairs as well as a built-in buffet. All with freshly refinished oak floors and saltillo tile.
An alcove (with curtain for semi-privacy) off the living room is a secluded place to sit or nap on the Taos bed, a large twin bed which provides comfortable sleeping for one. As you move through the first floor, you will step up the spiral stairway past a truly fantastic, stained glass window on the second level. The vigas, windows and wood add to the homey Santa Fe ambiance.
The second floor has a lovely bedroom with queen size bed and a large window with views that entrance you. You can enjoy the views of the Jemez and Sandia mountains even better from the 20' x 20' second floor deck. And what a place to view the stars! The master bath has a large tub/ shower and a double vanity. The second queen-sized bed is in the upstairs alcove. This area has a dresser and end table and windows with breathtaking views and a door leading out on the deck.
Now that you have found the perfect place to stay prepare to enjoy all Santa Fe has to offer. Just down Old Santa Fe Trail you'll come to Museum Hill and the turn for St. John's College which has interesting speakers and music festivals. There are, of course, many wonderful hiking trails and natural environments to explore. As you drive into town, you'll see museums, wonderful galleries, shops, restaurants, and Native Americans selling their wares in this town with a unique history and character. Drive to hot springs, Taos, and pueblos. Be sure to try the famous red and green chile, a northern New Mexican favorite.
We are available to answer questions and help with whatever problems come up. We want your experience to be one you'll always remember with delight.
If you're looking for a smaller place, we have a lovely, secluded CASITA for 2 people on the same 10 acre property. It too has sunset views and charming Santa Fe style decor. See VRBO #133388. We also offer winter time monthly rentals of around half price( Jan. 2nd thru May 2nd) to encourage longer stays.
I am Semi-retired. I lived in Austin, Texas my whole life and first came to Santa Fe on my honeymoon in 1969. I have two amazing kids who are busy working in fields they love. I was in the green industry prior to having this vacation rental. I love to share stories and information about my adopted state, New Mexico, but respect my guests’ privacy. I am here to answer any questions or help out if a need arises, but consider your guest home as yours while you visit.
David Woodland purchased this house in 2004
I LOVE SANTA FE!! I had visited Santa Fe for over thirty years before moving here from Austin, Texas. I bought this wonderful property that I had fallen in love with, and then chose to share it with others. I hope all that visit will adore it as much as I do.
The privacy and quiet of this 10 acre property combined with the convenience of being minutes from anything I could want was what enticed me. This property is at the end of a very small road that dead ends into my acreage. I am surrounded on all sides by undeveloped land. You can sit and watch the sunset and the city lights below and hear the birds sing. While I have three secluded houses on the property that are spaced up a hillside with trees in between them. If you are like me, you will appreciate the homey feeling that you get while you stay here. We offer a winter time rate ( Jan. 2nd thru May 2nd )of around half price to encourage longer stays in the winter months.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. We had six people staying which included my husband and I, my mother and father and our two teenage boys. The upstairs was perfect for me and my husband and our two teenage boys. There are two queen size beds upstairs along with a rollout bed. My parents slept downstairs on the two twin beds. The staircase was a little bit too hard for my mother to use and so she opted to stay downstairs. The kitchen is supplied with dishes and most everything you would need to make a simple meal. We enjoyed being away from town with a beautiful view but also being close enough to where we did not have a very long drive If we decided we wanted to venture downtown. The driveway to get to the home is a little steep but we had no problem at all maneuvering it. The owners are very helpful and are very close if any problems arise. We would definitely stay here again.
We loved this rustic guest house! It was cozy and perfect for our home base as we explored the Santa Fe area. You feel as if you are very secluded and away from it all, but the location is very accessible to the attractions in Santa Fe. The view from the upper deck is amazing and we spent most of our evenings watching the sunset over Santa Fe and the mountains beyond...absolutely breath taking! Our hosts were attentive and friendly, but not intrusive at all. I would recommend this property to adults who are able to climb the circular stairway, as the sleeping alcove on the main floor is small, but would be perfect for children. Overall, this is just an outstanding place to stay. We highly recommend Tia Sofia's for breakfast!
This home is very comfortable and has everything you need. Just sit back and enjoy the scenery.
Just as shown in the photos, this is a little southwestern hideaway, with exceptional views of Santa Fe and the valley below. As others noted, the property managers were helpful, but not intrusive. Located about an hour from Albuquerque and only 10-15 minutes from downtown Santa Fe. A bit far for early mornings at the balloon fiesta (Albuquerque), but perfect for enjoying all of the attractions of Santa Fe. Would recommend 4WD or at least decent clearance for winter stays - the last access road/driveway is narrow, gravel, and ends uphill.
Only one private bedroom (just as indicated in the listing), but it worked fine for my husband and I, two adult daughters, and one boyfriend, since we were all clear about the lack of privacy going in. :) I think five would be about the maximum number of adults that it could accommodate comfortably, although there were rollaway beds that might be fun to put out on the patio or deck during summer months (not sure where they would go inside).
Clean and tidy with the following exceptions - a bit cob-webby overall; dining room table wasn't clean when we arrived - it had interesting ashy deposits and a nail; and dog poo in the driveway, which we discovered after stepping in it... but all in all, fun, funky, and a good value. Well appointed kitchen, Wi-Fi, comfortable living room area for reading, playing games, etc. Would recommend Tecolote Cafe for breakfast and the iconic Shed for lunch or dinner.
Great location to go to Santa Fe or north. Quiet. Beautiful view of city at night. A little smaller than pictures led me to believe but comfortable. Super quiet appliances if you need to catch up on laundry. Quaint little house. Great restaurant nearby. Landlord very attentive to any questions but not invasive at all.
what a great place to stay, close to the town yet we felt like we were in a quiet and peaceful retreat. David and Wendy were very hospitable and helpful, we arrived in the early hours of the morning after an 8 hour journey, the lights, fire and TV were on to welcome us to our home for 5 days, everything was very comfortable and was well stocked we couldn't have asked for more. the Kids enjoyed the outdoor fire every evening and it was so nice to just sit with a nice cup of coffee and watch the sunrise or set. We will certainly stay there again should we be in the Santa Fe area.
