Overview

About the property

Leave your car and your cares at the marina. Little Gasparilla is accessible only by boat or water taxi. That means our beaches are uncrowded and tourists and traffic are just a mainland memory. If you are looking for a quiet, tropical island to relax and unplug, Little Gasparilla is your dream vacation spot. Our "night life" consists of watching the sun set, see giant sea turtles laying their eggs, and enjoying the stars. The only bar is a sand bar where you can find sand dollars and shells.

Seagrape Escape is a cozy and comfortable beach house on charming Seagrape Lane. Just steps from the bay for easy fishing and kayaking and just a two minute stroll to Little Gasparilla's beautiful private beach. The owners provide use of their kayaks, perfect for exploring the bay, mangrove caves or the sandbar. If you rent a boat during your stay, a free dock slip is also included with your rental.

PERFECT LOCATION!

This home is perfectly situated to offer you the best of Little Gasparilla Island -- both the bay and the beach! Just steps to the dock, so you can walk down and catch fish for dinner . . . or launch one of the FREE KAYAKS and watch a spectacular sunrise over the Bay . . . or just a two minute stroll down Seagrape Lane and you are on our beautiful private beach.

LOTS OF PRIVACY!

The south-facing porch is light and sunny all day and offers the ultimate in privacy . . . views of the bay, the mangroves and lush tropical foliage. . . not your neighbors! The porch makes you feel like your in the tree tops, it overlooks a small fresh-water pond and the bay. There is also a luxurious outdoor shower, everyone's favorite part of island living!

EQUIPPED WITH EVERYTHING YOU NEED!

The home is fully equipped with everything you need to relax and rejuvenate your spirit. This spacious family-friendly home has all the entertainment you will need, from family games, dvd's and an x-box 360, to speakers outside on the screened porch. A large gas grill is conveniently located right off the porch. The home is air-conditioned, offers a full size washer/dryer, ceiling fans, includes all linens, a dishwasher, microwave, toaster oven, coffeemaker, tv, dvd player and stereo system. The home has an open floor plan plus a large screened porch for casual entertaining. It has newer stainless appliances, granite countertops and cool tile floors. You have access to a pantry with condiments and some staples and the home has city water. It even comes with boogie boards, beach chairs, beach umbrellas and rafts! Everything you need for a fun-filled family vacation or relaxing winter getaway is here waiting for you. The third bedroom (not pictured) has a twin bed and a double futon so 6 adults can sleep comfortably. Extra inflatable beds are also provided.

PET-FRIENDLY!

SeaGrape Escape is a pet-friendly cottage with a 2-pet maximum. We assess a non-refundable pet fee of $100 for each pet. We would love to allow you to bring your furry family members with you on vacation but we must be notified in advance if you intend to bring a pet. We provide dog towels to rinse off your furry friend after a fun romp on the beach.

LITTLE GASPARILLA FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS...PLEASE READ!

• You cannot drive your car to the house or the island and the only access is via water taxi; there is no vehicle ferry.

• You must park your car at the marina at the mainland but it will be perfectly safe there; parking is $6 a day.

• The water taxi is $10 per person each way and he will drop you right at our dock. Normal ferry hours are approximately 8-5 every day.

• You must bring all groceries to the island with you.

• There are no stores of any kind on the island, not even a convenience store.

• There is no need to bring drinking water; the water from the tap is safe and drinkable.

• There are first responders on the island and we have 911 service in case of an emergency.

• Golf carts are not necessary - the island is only 100-200 yards wide in most places - but they are fun to go exploring.

• You can fish off the dock or the beach but non-Florida residents will need to purchase a fishing license.

• The beach is dog-friendly but dogs must be under your control, non-aggressive and we do charge a pet fee.

INTERNET: There is no wired internet service on the island. There are a couple options for wifi. Most people just opt to use the mobile hotspots on their smartphones, especially if they have unlimited data or a large data plan. Cell service is excellent and that is the most convenient option...and it seems to work a bit faster. We can provide instructions on hot spotting if you are not familiar. If you do not have a smartphone, we provide a free Verizon jetpack. We urge guests NOT to plan on using the jetpack for entertainment...no streaming music or videos, etc. It is more than adequate for checking emails, etc. Just keep in mind that it is NOT the internet you are used to on the mainland. (It is especially helpful to remind kids and teenagers who are used to umlimited data!) We usually suggest that people download books and movies to their tablets or e-readers BEFORE coming to the island.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This home was amazing! Very clean and spacious. It had tons of stuff to do on the 1 rainy day we were trapped inside! We had a group of 6 (2 kids age 5 and 2) and this house was perfect. So close to the dock and just a simple 2 min walk to the beach! The locals were very nice and showed us the "local library" and how to spot shark teeth while looking for shells. I would recommend this place to anyone and will definitely want to stay here again!!!!

Great House !

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed this house. What you see is what you get, it looks exactly like the photos. Clean, modern and very well equipped. The spices, condiments, aluminum foil, etc were a really nice amenity since you have to bring everything with you to the island. The fishing equipment was also really nice to be able to use. All we had to bring was the bait!

Below are some comments/observations (in no particular order) that may help those of you plan for a future stay at Seagrape Escape.

First of all, Little Gasparilla Vacation Rentals were really great to deal with. Communication was excellent, and they have very clear and concise information about LGI that will make your vacation here as stress free as possible. It's obvious that they have been doing this for a long time and want you to enjoy your vacation.

This has to be one of the friendliest places we have ever been. Literally every person we saw gave us a wave and a hello. We felt completely comfortable letting our two kids explore and go on bike rides by themselves.

We had some concerns about the quality of the water for drinking. It was fine, and there was even a Brita Water pitcher in the refrigerator. So no need to lug gallons of water to the island.

The bikes that came with the house were a nice, unexpected surprise.

The beach was beautiful.

We rented a golf cart and it was really nice to have. We were able to load the beach chairs, umbrella, cooler, etc, on it for our daily trips to the beach. Even though the beach is pretty close, it would have been a lot to carry back and forth everyday. (Tip - the beach on the left as Grand Ave turns sharp right and then turns into King St has enough room to drive the cart (and turn it around) right up to the beach path)

While LGI may not be for everyone, it is a beautiful, laid back, beach community. There are no restaurants or convenience stores, but if you are looking for a place to get away from it all, this is it.

Perfect Beach house for fisherman and beach lovers!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time. It was the perfect vacation house for a family of 4 (and could have fit a couple more easily). It was a great location, right by the pier to fish and close to the beach. The house was very neat and clean and provided us with all the required amenities. The hosts could not have been more helpful!

Beautiful home, island and vacation!

  • 5 of 5

Seagrape Escape is a beautiful family vacation home with perfect views of the bay from the deck. Everything you need besides groceries is included with the home. We enjoyed kayaking in the gulf and riding bikes around the island. Great private location. Getting to the island with groceries and suitcases by water taxi is a bit stressful, but once here it is all about relaxation.

Beautiful, private home.

  • 5 of 5

This home was exactly as it appears in the pictures. It is beautiful, clean, modern and so private. Very short walk to the boat docks, and a little longer, but beautiful walk to the beach. The house was equipped with everything we needed, plus some. In addition to everything they list that is included, you will find many grocery staples in the house for you use, spices, condiments, dish soap, baggies, foil, laundry detergent. It was amazing, and very convenient since there are no stores and you have to bring everything with you.

Th island is fantastic...tropical, quiet, clean, friendly, uncrowded beaches. We caught great fish off of the boat docks every evening. I'm sure this island isn't for everyone though. There are no restaurants, stores, cars, roads, etc. It is a bit of a challenge to get here with all of your things, but well worth it. You probably won't make many trips to the mainland for stores or restaurants as the water taxi across to the island is expensive and only ran till 4:00 p.m. at the time we were there. You have to plan well and be okay with cooking all of your own meals every day.

The rental agents, Laurie and Buddy, were very helpful. I would highly recommend Seagrape Escape if you are looking for a beautiful home on Little Gasparilla Island.

Idyllic Retreat

  • 5 of 5

Instant relaxation from the moment we arrived at Seagrape Escape. Accomodation was everything we'd hoped for, well appointed, clean, and freshly decorated. We enjoyed early morning walks on the beach with a swim before breakfast in the warm turquoise sea. The beach is a shell hunters paradise and is also pet friendly. We will definitely return!
