Great spot with very nice amenities!

  • 4 of 5

I'll stay here again. I only gave it 4 stars, because one we only had one upstairs toilet. That was fine as the owner was up front about the downstairs toilet being out of order. I understand it will be repaired soon. Bring your own cable/connectors if you want to stream/watch anything on their tv. Thank you Mary!

Beautiful riverfront cottage

  • 5 of 5

This is a gorgeous cottage right on the river! It is actually very large so not really a cottage at all. We stayed here for two nights while visiting my daughter at SUNY Potsdam.

I really loved the kitchen with its beautiful views of the river. It was an eat in kitchen with a big table surrounded by windows. The master bedroom has a cute balcony off the back with sliding glass doors. You can lie in bad and see the river!

The property is very secluded but there are still neighbors around which was comforting.

Outside was amazing. We swam off the dock and we took the canoe out. There is a fire pit and a big patio table is you want to eat outside.

Looking forward to staying here again! Mary was very quick to respond to all my questions and all communication was very clear.

Great place to stay

  • 5 of 5

Mary's place was a great home base for our family vacation, the rental went smooth and the info she provided was great.

We stayed for 2 weeks and spent a lot of our time out of the cabin but we did spend a couple of days in the cabin/river/fishing and it was great. The cabin was roomy and setup for everything we needed. The views were great and we had a wonderful trip,

Thanks again Mary!

Owner's Response: We are happy that you enjoyed your stay with us. We are certainly delighted that you had a chance to fish and hope you caught something. My daughter, who takes care of the cottage said you left things in good order. Thank you for staying with us.

Serene piece of Heaven on Earth...

  • 5 of 5

This cottage set just steps back from the smooth river was everything we needed to enjoy the amazing views and nature abound. We took a canoe ride and ended up surrounded by fragrant water lilies. The hydrangeas were in full enormous blooms and wild flowers popped out along the winding bike trails. The water was refreshing, crisp, and clean when we needed to cool off after our sunny adventures.

Inside the cottage had a rustic style and felt like a cozy cabin. The rooms were all well appointed and had a cheerful charm. The Rivendell sign above the porch door brought a smile to our family as we could easily see the reference to Tolkien's world. This place is magical in many ways and we hope to return again soon and stay longer next time!!!

Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

Very nice comfortable home away from home on the water. The fishing was great, pike, largemouth, smallmouth, perch, sunnys. The beds were comfortable. Friendly neighbors. Nice little town of Potsdam to walk through. I only wished we could have stayed longer.

Loved it!

  • 5 of 5

We rented another cottage/cabin through Home Away previously and arrived after dark and after traveling by plane (where we could take the bare minimum with us). The previous rental was NOT completely as advertised and we arrived at night to find no toilet paper, no hand soap, etc. and a cottage that was not well maintained. Because of that experience, we almost chose to stay in the nearest hotel. However, this rental was totally different! We arrived after 3 days of driving from Oklahoma. Unlike the other property, this cottage was exactly as advertised and everything was ready and waiting for us! It was quiet, comfortable, convenient, beautiful. We enjoyed the snow and peace & quiet but were still close to family for visiting. We knew there was a TV/DVD player but no cable or satellite so we brought some DVD's and we were happy. Having high speed internet was definitely a plus as there were times we needed to be online for a bit of work. It was nice to have a bathroom both upstairs and downstairs (so we weren't running downstairs in the middle of the night) and to have a cottage that was completely ready for us. We're looking forward to our next stay!!
