About Kenna Marshall
My name is Kenna and I am the new owner of this absolutely gorgeous property. I was born in Kelowna but have lived in many places in British Columbia before finding my forever home here on the Saanich Peninsula. I am a retired Assistant Director from the Vancouver Film Industry. Apparently retirement for me, means buying a large piece of property with an amazing garden, pastures, a forest and two adorable donkeys. I know that it will not be long before I bring home a couple of horses to add to my family. Meanwhile, it's Mantia and Anna, the donkeys; Rosie and Hunter, my dogs; and Monkey, my cat. My friend and partner Michael has joined me in becoming hobby farmers and hosts to the two lovely vacation rental suites that are part of the property. I love meeting new people and hearing their stories and learning about where they come from. I have found that in my travels through life, it is the people I meet who make memories special and make me smile. The property is a perfect meeting place to make new friends, share the serenity and beauty of the land, and welcome what-ever and who-ever life has to offer.

Why Kenna Marshall chose Saanichton
WolfShire is an incredibly special property. It is a South-facing, heritage farm, perfectly located on the lower slopes of Mt. Newton. The rising sun on one side of the property brings with it a chorus of birds welcoming you to the day. The singing of the Towhees, Flickers, and Juncos combine with the rat-a-tat-tat of the woodpeckers and the hum of the Hummingbirds to serenade the morning activities of the farm. The view from the property reaches as far as the Olympic Mountain range in the US and as close as the water of Brentwood Bay and the pastures of adjoining farms. The property has one of the most beautiful gardens I've ever seen on a private residence, definitely could be called a Mini Butchart Gardens. At the top of the property is our very own forest. The sound of the wind in the tall fir, cedar and arbutus trees is magical. It is easy to imagine little forest faeries watching you as you take a break, walk the grounds, touch a 200 year old tree and feel its strength and history. The stable and surrounding pastures are currently home to two adorable donkeys, Mantea and Anna. When the previous owners relocated, the donkeys decided to stay so that they could provide a calming presence and a ton of cuteness to WolfShire with their big brown eyes, and giant donkey ears. The property enjoys bright all day sunshine and stunning evening pastels as the sun sets over Brentwood Bay. Resident eagles and hawks soar overhead. Saturdays, it is fun to watch skydivers, one after another, drop from the sky and maneuver their parachutes to land in the pasture below Wolfshire. Saturday evening in the summer is time to watch the fireworks display, courtesy of Butchart Gardens. WolfShire is a peaceful, friendly place. The property lends itself to either quiet reflection or friendly interaction with those sharing the space. Whatever one desires, the property will deliver.
What makes this House unique
WolfShire offers the unique opportunity to stay on a happy hobby farm. It is ideally located for trips into historic Victoria. Visit the Parliament Buildings, the excellent Provincial Museum, have tea at the Empress Hotel, and check out the many shops and galleries found in the city. The Saanich Peninsula is home to a variety of wineries, breweries and a cider house. The area is packed with local farms offering produce, flowers, meat and fish. There are farmers markets to explore. The lovely town of Sidney by the Sea is a ten minute drive away. The nearby oceanside provides endless beaches to visit. Rent a kayak or canoe and explode the area from the water. Head out on a Whale Watching Tour for a chance to meet resident orcas, dolphins and other marine life. Hike trails in John Dean Park, just 5 minutes from the property. A day could include tours and shopping and dining, or it could be used to read, nap or wander the gardens and photograph birds and flowers. It is all optional, and it is all up to you. It is more than okay to simply relax and soak in the serenity of WolfShire, guilt free!

We had a wonderful time, starting with a smiling Kenna waving us into the spot we were to park our vehicle. She proceeded to show us around the property seeing excellent accommodation unbelievable gardens with flowers and vegetables and then the horse Zappa and 2 donkeys plus a forested area (7.5 acres). It is so quiet there at night that we slept for ages, the views are peaceful, we spent many hours outside. We have been going to the Saanich peninsula for many years and this the best place we have stayed at in years so we know a lot of places we enjoy but this time we found the best butcher in Saanichton and a baker plus visited our favourite haunts.
Thanks Kenna for making us so welcome
PHENOMENAL! 10 STARS * * * * * * * * * *
Wolfshire had us howling with joy on arrival when we saw how beautiful the grounds were, with lavish displays of flowers along with a serene Koi pond. The accommodations were well appointed and spotless! Our host Kenna went above and beyond our expectations. There were fresh flowers throughout the suite, and all we could ever ask for in the way of breakfast fixings, eggs, milk, pancake mix, fresh fruit, coffee, tea and special beverages. We enjoyed lounging about in the soft robes provided, in front of the fireplace after a long day of exploring the nearby Butchart Gardens and downtown Victoria.
Kenna toured us around her beautiful property and introduced us to her adorable miniature donkeys. We felt so well cared for and completely at home.
Kenna was such a warm, thoughtful and gracious host.
You won't be disappointed! We will definitely return!
Thank you Kenna!!

Wow! Thank you for your wonderful review, Valerie and Kay. The enthusiasm of your review matches the enthusiasm with which you experienced my property. It was a lot of fun showing you around. The donkeys loved you! I’m glad that you found the suite comfortable and the little extras that I provided, welcoming. WolfShire is such a serene and beautiful property, I am happy that it was what “got you howling with joy”. I look forward to hosting you again.
The property is clean and well-maintained.
We have had a most enjoyable 3 month stay at the WolfShire.
The accommodations were clean and well stocked with towels, soaps etc.
We stayed in the 2 bedroom Courtyard suite and it was nice to have the guest room and second bathroom completely separate. It is a lovely and quiet place with beautiful flowers, trees and a gorgeous view overlooking the valley. It is just a short drive to a great coffee shop, meat market, grocery, pharmacy and other stores. We would recommend this suite to our friends and to anyone who is looking for a relaxing and quiet stay on beautiful Vancouver Island. Kenna and Michael are the most gracious and friendly hosts and very helpful and accommodating to our needs.
Peter & Bernice
Hello Peter and Bernice!
Thank you for the lovely review. I am so glad that you were our first guests at WolfShire, our new home. As you know, we hit the ground running when we moved onto the property and have worked very hard to create a friendly, happy and serene atmosphere for anyone who visits.
We really enjoyed your sharing the property with us.
Peter, I miss the delicious aroma of your excellent bbq cooking! Thank you for sharing some of your creations! Maybe next visit, you can teach me how to bbq... I'll bring the wine.
I'm sorry that the magnolia tree held back from its complete bloom until after you left. I guess next year you will have to stay for 4 months! I hope the photos that I have sent you are a close second to actually seeing it in person.
The garden just keeps getting more and more alive with blooms and birds. My adopted donkeys are getting friendlier by the day, and we've just planted dinner in the greenhouse.
The property is magic indeed.
We sure hope you return to WolfShire soon, and in the meantime, please be well and have a happy spring and summer.
