About Judy and Richard Waddington
Embarking on a new life together, we found ourselves in Bec de Jun and gradually fell in love with its beauty, its history and its overall magnificence. After busy lives in Oxford and the Cotswolds we were ready for a change of pace and culture, in a place where our family and friends could come and join us, and indulge themselves, and generally relax!
Judy and Richard Waddington purchased this Farmhouse in 2005
Why Judy and Richard Waddington chose Beaulieu
Because of its potential and the tranquillity of its surroundings, we were convinced that we could make something of its ancient stones. Twelve years later and after a lot of hard labour (and some fun too...), we have breathed new life into the Mas des Crecerelles. It has more than fulfilled all that we had thought that it could become. We invite you to share our enjoyment of this wonderful place...
What makes this Farmhouse unique
… almost too many to spell out. But how about this: the views, the sunsets, the wine, the extraordinary art of the Grotte Chauvet, the wonderful natural landscape, the warmth of the people – and much more to be discovered for yourselves...

Wonderful location, away from it all, yet only 5 minutes drive from a great boulangerie/epicerie.
We had a great 2 weeks here - Richard and Judy were fabulous hosts - attentive and hospitable, but never crowding or intrusive. From the amazing sunsets ( they really are that good!), great plunge pool, brilliantly appointed kitchen and fab library, to the ready supply of figs, damsons and fresh herbs for cooking we felt truly spoilt.
The local area has lots to keep you busy - good walks, (including one which took us through a cave and a natural rock tunnel), flattish cycling ( hills also in ready supply for those fitter than us!) canoeing ( Chassezac river was great) and much more besides.
This was one of our best French self catering holidays ever. Many thanks
Quiet setting, good location
The old building set under a crumbling chateau has been renovated to the highest standard by the owners who are on hand to welcome you with advice to make the most of the holiday. The gite has all you need and the outside space, which catches the afternoon / evening sun, is a pleasure. Good location for the Ardeche and the cave paintings at Pont d'Arc, but local vicinity also well worth exploring.
What we wanted was isolation deep in the middle of rural France and that is exactly what we got. The view is stunning. The house is stylish and has everything you need. VERY hot during our stay. Cooling off in plunge pool in the evening was perfect. Mr and Mrs Waddington were perfect hosts. Always there when you needed something, but never intruding when you didn't, even though they live next door. Plenty of interesting things to do and see reasonably close at hand without making it too long a day. But just as good simply chilling out and admiring the view.
Wonderful holiday at Bec de Jun
We had a lovely week in Richard and Judy's beautifully restored Gite. The house has everything you'd need, is very comfy and the kitchen is really well designed and has all the kit you'll need, unlike lots of rentals. At the end of a hot day the small pool is perfect to cool down in and was big enough for the four of us to splash around in. So much to do in the area but we cano-ed, wild swam, toured roman
sites, hung out in cafes and ate like kings. Home grown tomatoes, great local advice and the odd aperitif from hosts who know how to be friendly and welcoming whilst allowing us to feel free to do our own thing. Highly recommended, The Taylor family.
Superb position and delightful interiors.
This is an almost totally 'unspoilt' part of the South of France with a rustic charm hard to match. Best to be armed with a car if you don't have too much time as the surrounding villages and countryside are a must to visit and enjoy. The house has obviously been lovingly restored and cared for by its current owners with attention paid to all the history of this extraordinary stone building and its environs. The gite is really comfortable and a proper home from home. You will be sad to leave.
Sehr idyllisch und komfortabel.
Die Vermieter sind hilfsbereit und sehr nett. Alles ist durchdacht und gut ausgestattet, für vier Personen sehr zweckmäßig und bequem.
Surrounded by garrigue and vineyards our property has a huge panoramic view from south-west to north-west, dominated by the Cevenne mountains, and is an area popular for many outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, rock-climbing, kayaking, river swimming, horse-riding, go-karting and many more, and getting to discover the local market towns and 'villages de characteres'.
We are also just a short drive away from la Grotte Chauvet Pont d'Arc exhibition centre, the world's oldest known cave paintings.
We have a good range of restaurants within easy reach, as well as many small wine domains, all of whom offer tasting and/or tours.
Above all, the quality of the area speaks for itself.
