Ready to plan your mountain vacation in a classic log cabin home, nestled in the trees yet still offering an amazing view? Welcome to Changes in Altitude, our latest Banner Elk cabin rental located at just over 4400 feet to be sure you enjoy cool mountain breezes in Summer and lovely snowfalls in Winter.
Located in the picturesque community of Mountain Meadows, your drive to Changes in Altitude takes you past the popular Banner Elk duck ponds and Wildcat Lake. Arrive to the cabin and the rustle of the leaves greet you with calm and natural splendor. The Autumn color show is like few others!
Upon entering, your eyes are naturally drawn to the large window wall, perfect to ensure easy enjoyment of the natural beauty without even stepping outside. The soaring wood-beamed ceiling and classic wood-burning stone fireplace remind you yet again – only in the mountains!
Comfortable leather seating in the living area is the perfect spot to relax and catch up with one another. The open floor plan keeps everyone together even when passing the time in separate pursuits. Some may gather around the fireplace or tv, while others enjoy board games or jigsaw puzzles at the dining table, and still others gather take a seat at the counter to share tips with the family chef.
The kitchen features glass-fronted cabinets and updated appliances and is well-stocked for meal preparation. Others enjoy the gas grill on the deck, perfect for grilling burgers or even your own fresh catch of the day – our wonderful mountain trout!
The main level of the home features the first two bedrooms and bath. A king size, classic log poster bed awaits in one bedroom, and a queen in the other. Both have large windows to enjoy your setting, and there is a full bath off the hall with shower/tub combo.
Upstairs, there is a cozy sitting nook to curl up with a good novel as you continue to enjoy the view out the large window wall across from you. The third bedroom is here as well, with queen bed and another large window. The third bath also features a shower/tub combo.
The final sleeping option is a favorite for the kids, a bunkroom with two sets of twin beds. Located just off the family room, it may be tempting for them to stay up late and enjoy the pool table or just hanging out a bit longer, catching up. The third bath is also on this level, with walk-in shower.
When the weather is too good to pass up (most of the year here in the High Country!), the large deck area awaits. Soak in the hot tub, or sit and count the passing deer, chipmunks and wild turkeys. Another portion of the deck is covered, so even with a little rain, you can take in your surroundings and still be comfortable.
Summer visitors are sure to bring their swimsuits, kayaks and paddleboards to enjoy time at Wildcat Lake, just two miles away. With beach area, swimming dock, and playground, this is a favorite spot for swimmers and paddlers alike. Winter visitors appreciate the short drive to the slopes, just under seven miles to Sugar Mountain, and ten to Beech Mountain. Drive just a bit further to enjoy the quaint downtown areas of Valle Crucis, Boone or Blowing Rock, and of course downtown Banner Elk is even closer!
