Fun family reunion
We enjoyed our stay at the Summer House. The online description was accurate and the property manager was very helpful. The house accommodated our family of 11 very well.
Perfect for a large family
The space was perfect for a large family. There are so many different activities to do so there was something for everyone. We hiked Chimney Rock and the waterfall, cooked hamburgers on the grill, swam in the lake and the kids played at the lake's splashpad, fished in the lake, roasted marshmallows at the fire pit, watched 4th of July fireworks by the water, visited the train museum, strolled through the flowering bridge, and waded in the river. The property manager was very quick to respond when the air conditioning went out and she spent a lot of time helping us set up portable a/c units to cool the house down. Overall, a great experience!
Great House, Great Location
Thanks so much for offering your home on VRBO. My family of 6 daughters, their respective husbands (3), and the three grandchildren had plenty of room in this beautiful historic cabin. We would definitely return. Kathleen was responsive and accommodating. The house is exactly as described. Built in 1928 the charm and wood floors and walls were reminiscent of the cabin in “On Golden Pond”. The kitchen had all the appliances and while the stove and dishwasher are the very basic, they worked. The large refrigerator was perfect for our multi-family. The beds and linens were as described in earlier reviews - nice and plentiful. The location could not have been better. Close to the lake but it felt like we were in a tree house. We got lucky and the weather was perfect - there could be more screens for ALL the windows as we only opened the ones that had screens. If all of the windows had been opened there would have been zero need for the A/C. Thanks again.
Lake house with character!
The property is exactly as represented. A very unique and authentic cabin on a shady hill a few blocks from the beach. (Walking down the hill to get to the lake is easy but it is a bit steep walking home.) The house was clean and spacious with lots of thoughtful touches. The kitchen cabinets remind me of my great grandma’s house but the appliances are all updated and we found everything we needed. The beds were comfy and there were plenty of great linens and towels which was appreciated! The outdoor gas fireplace was awesome.
If you’re looking for a modern feeling house, this is not it, but if you want to relax somewhere with a nice combo of antique character and modern conveniences- I would highly recommend!
Thanks for the great review Jessica. We hope to host your group again.
Rustic but comfortable and homey!
We really enjoyed our time in Lake Lore! The house is incredibly convenient to the beach and the Inn and Chimney rock. The beds and linens were plentiful and comfortable and the TV room area is fantastic! Such a comfy sofa! The kitchen is older but pretty much has everything you would need. The dining table seats nine comfortably and we played games on it each night. Most of our time with Was spent on the front porch which was just lovely! It really is cooler in that area than where we are from in Atlanta and we enjoyed being able to go outside. There is a nice grill and we cooked out but also enjoyed the local restaurants and wineries and especially Hickory nut brewery.
Thank you for the kind words, Molly. We hope to host your visit again.
