A beautifully decorated and perfectly situated Provençal house with an amazing view of the Luberon f
We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 weeks here in August. The weather was very hot so we were very grateful for the pool. We spend our mornings visiting nearby villages to stock up on supplies at the markets and sightseeing . Then returned to the house to escape the heat of the day, spending our afternoons in the pool or escaping the heat inside the cool stone house.
The house is very well-equipped, making it easy to prepare meals with the beautiful produce we found at the markets. We found an excellent butcher, bakery and grocery at Coustellet, all within a short drive away. We enjoyed a couple of really lovely meals at a local restaurant in Goult, Le Carillon. We also had a splendid meal at a gorgeous restaurant nearby, Le Mas Tourteron. The garden setting was amazing and the desserts to-die-for!
A very memorable stay! We would return without hesitation!
Thank you very much for your very kind review. We really hope to welcome you again in a near future!
Wonderful property in a beautiful part of Provence
Our family of four, 2 children aged 9 and 11, stayed at le Mas du Passe Temps for a week, July 2017. We had a wonderfully relaxing visit to a beautiful part of France and it was lovely coming home to the house at the end of a hot and busy day.
The pool area was lovely, the loungers comfortable and the large, modern sun umbrella provided plenty of shade should you wish. The pool temperature was perfect, not too cool or warm.
The house was well equipped with all the dishes, glassware, utensils and household appliances you need and were all in great working order. The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of clothing storage in each bedroom along with tasteful décor throughout the house – just as the pictures online depict!
The wifi was rather spotty at times and did not reach up the second floor of the house at all. Our children would have appreciated cable tv when winding down in the evenings and we all would have been grateful for air conditioning in the bedrooms. The days when the Mistral blew, we were able to cool the rooms down in the evening prior to sleep by opening all the windows but on the days of no wind, the bedrooms were exceptionally hot and at times uncomfortable to sleep in. Small upright fans are provided however, ceiling fans (if not air conditioners!) would be a real benefit to le Mas du Passe Temps and its summer visitors.
Anne was a wonderful help prior to our trip, making restaurant reservations for us and providing answers to any email questions we had almost immediately. The booking and security deposit refund was straightforward and appreciated.
We would highly recommend a stay in le Mas du Passe Temps, keeping in mind your capacity to sleep in very warm weather! Thank you for a wonderful stay.
Thank you very much for your kind review. This year we had a particularly hot summer in Provence and this heat lasted almost 2 months. Alas all houses have warmed up.
Thank you again and hope to welcome you next year!
Loved our stay!
Beautiful home in private enclave and wonderful view. Recently remodeled, the home is in excellent condition and well-appointed. With very hot days and no A/C , would have been nice to have fans. Property management personnel very very attentive and nice to work with! We would definitely stay again!
Thank you very much for your kind review. We are really happy that you enjoyed your stay.
For the fans, we have one in each bedroom.
Hope to welcome you next year! Sincerely, Sandra
Amazing property and location...
Really beautiful old stone farmhouse with an amazing location just outside Gordes. Really appreciated Sandra the property manager's welcoming attitude and helpfulness. Would make this a yearly vacation!
Thank you very much Todd for your kind review! Hope to welcome you next year!
Paradise in the Luberon
We stayed in this fabulous home in early Sept for 8 days with our 2 adult children and a girlfriend and had a wonderful vacation. The pool was clean, refreshing and had a marvelous view across the valley to Ménerbes (we spent hours in and around the pool); the kitchen was large and fully stocked with everything we needed; each of the 3 bedrooms has its own bathroom, which was terrific for 5 adults; the living room was large with comfy sofas; the patio was perfect for breakfast and dinners of all the Provençal specialties. There is no AC but even on the very hot days when we were there, the evenings were cool, fans are provided and we were very comfortable. The Internet is weak, but that is to be expected in this region. We would rent this home again in a heartbeat. It is a wonderful property. Thank you to Sandra for all her help and kindness.
Merci beaucoup Beth! I'm so glad you really enjoyed your stay. I will be very pleased to welcome you again!
A beautiful house, beautiful pool and a beautiful view.
We spent a wonderful 2 weeks here. A beautifully presented house with a gorgeous pool overlooking the Luberon valley. We will definitely be returning and would recommend to our friends. It was a treat to have the house cleaned twice during our stay too!
A great location to explore Gordes, Goult, Menerbes, Bonnieux etc etc.
Thank you so much Debbie! Hope to welcome you soon with your family!
This village can boast about being amongst one of the most beautiful villages in France. It has narrow cobbled streets which thread their way through tall houses; built against the rock, clinging onto its flanks and whispering the tales of a thousand legends. Gordes is also proud of its castle firmly planted in its very core and which reminds the passer-by of a past rich with conquests but also marked with the sufferings of its inhabitants. Today, the castle acts as both a Town Hall and a Museum sheltering the works of art of the painter Pol Mara. WHAT TO SEE IN GORDES THE CASTLE : The castle and the church, which dominate the village, impress their stature upon the visitor, as if to protect Gordes'inhabitants and extend upon them their respective influences, as was the case in the past. The castle, rebuilt in 1525 already, existed in 1031. Well preserved, and carefully restored, it brings together the architecture of the troubled medieval period with the new ways of the Renaissance. Since the summer of 1996, it has been possible to visit withing Gordes Castle, the Pol Mara Museum. Pol Mara was contemporary Flemish painter and a citizen of the city of Gordes. THE VILLAGE DES BORIES : On the slopes of the Vaucluse mountains, facing the Luberon mountains, the Bories village with its sheep-pens, stone bread ovens, wine vats, threshing areas, narrow alleys and 'city walls' bears witness to the numerous generations of hard working people that have inhabited this place. Since the Bories (a 'borie' is a stone hut characteristic of the Apt area), can be traced back to the Bronze Age, it is about 3000 years of continuity that one contemplates, the newest huts having been built in the XVIIIth century. The French Government has classified the Bories Village a Historical Monument in 1977. It is the most important group of houses of its kind in the region. SENANQUE'S ABBEY : Founded in 1148, the Sénanque Abbey is an exceptional witness of primitive Cistercian architecture. A community of Cistercian monks still lives there. The entire XIIth century building is opened to visitors; this includes the abbatial church, the cloister, the dormitory, the chapter room and the calefactory. THE MOULINS OIL PRESS : It is the oldest olive oil press being kept in perfect condition to this day, with all its elements including a press, with its axis made of an oak tree trunk 30 feet long and weighing 7 tons. It is located in a XVIth century bastide, with vaulted rooms. The antique oil press dates back to the Gallo-roman era. THE ST FIRMIN'S PALACE CELLARS : Historic monument Troglodytic rooms, cisterns, subterranean stairways, oil presses, etc. all carved and/or built from century to century within the basement of a large house so-called 'Palais St Firmin'. THE CHURCH : rebuilt in the XVIIIth century, it was then dedicated for 2 centuries to its patron, St Firmin (bishop of the city of Uzès). The St Eloi chapel is consecrated to the blacksmiths and locksmiths, and that of St Crespin to the cobblers. On the so-called 'rue des Clastres', on may notice a shell, carved in a wall, which bears witness to the pilgrims walking towards St Jacques in Spain.
