Perfect Windward Home - Old Hawaii the Way it was Meant to Be!

Property type house
Minimum Stay 3 nights

Overview

About the property

3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, sleeps up to 8

The Basics:

3 bedroom, 2 bath house... fully furnished, sleeps 8.

Fully furnished home, tastefully decorated.

Modest, comfortable home

The Beaches:

We are 6 houses from the beautiful beach coastline of Ka'a'awa

No crowds like Waikiki... enjoy both grass and white sand beaches within a short walk.

The Neighborhood:

Our house is on a quiet residential street... you can fall asleep listening to the surf at night.

Conveniently located:

* In the Ka'a'awa Valley where Jurassic Park was filmed

* The Polynesian Cultural Center is about 15 minutes away

* The world famous North Shore is about 25 minutes away

* Honolulu airport is about 40 minutes away

* Waikiki is about 45 minutes away.

The really nice thing about Ka'a'awa : ... is the peacefulness, lack of crowds and natural beauty. You can enjoy our white sand beaches without fighting your way through crowds. The water is a gorgeous blue and there's a natural reef several hundred yards off the coast that keep the waves from being too big and dangerous near the shore.

This is a great place for families or couples, not to mention that it is a great value! There are several other rental homes in Ka'a'awa which are right on or across from the beach. These properties are quite nice, but they also command much higher rental costs. When you stay at our place, you save some money and you are also a block off the main highway, which means less traffic and noise.

Ka’a’awa Weather & Climate: The windward side of Oahu has a subtropical climate with prevailing northeasterly trade winds, which are a dominant factor that governs Oahu's pleasant climate. The trade winds are consistent in summer months, and in combination with the warm temperatures gives Oahu and all of Hawaii great conditions for sailing, boating and other outdoor recreational activities. Oahu has two mountain ranges that separate the wet 'windward' side from the drier 'leeward' coast. The Ko’olau Mountains extend along the northeastern side and to the west lies the Waianae Mountains. Showers occur almost daily on the windward side, while on the leeward said, showers are light. Even on the moist windward side, showers occur most frequently during evening hours. Occasionally the trade winds shut down and it can become hot and humid. It is rare, however, for weather to become severe enough to interfere with outdoor plans

Payment Types Accepted: We accept Visa or MasterCard payments

Why Keahiloa chose North Shore Oahu

The windward side and Ka'a'awa in particular have special meaning for our 'ohana. Many of our fondest memories have taken place on these windward beaches. And we are so glad that Pono Loa has become a gathering place for our 'ohana, friends and haumana!

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had such an amazing time!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 8 had such an amazing time in Hawaii!

Keahiloa's house provided the peace and quiet we were looking for during our stay. The house had everything we needed.

From the late evening we arrived, I had just followed Keahiloa's instruction on how to find the house and it was very easy to follow.

We were amazed how much space the house provided for our family.

The master bedroom had room for the playpen I have rented our our 9 month old and also had room for our 8 year old to set up the folding mattress for her to sleep on. The sitting area in the master bedroom was a huge plus and also the bathroom it had as well.

There was 100% privacy for all of our family members.

The open concept in the main living room, dining room and kitchen was very nice as we were able to all spend time with each other whether my daughter was watching TV, my mom-in-law cooking or my sisters eating at the dining table.

The front porch was very nice, I found my husband just relaxing there - reading his book and looking at the mountain view it had.

The backyard was very roomy, my 8 year old daughter had a fun time running around in the backyard and my mother-in-law adoring all the pretty flowers and she really loved the plumeria tree (I think it was the plumeria tree, it was blooming flowers).

All of the items that were provided, boogie boards, washer/dryer, bbq grill - we all used.

It was very nice as well to have Billy greet us the very next day and welcoming us. He also given us some nice tips on which beaches to visit in the area.

There were so many beaches 5 minutes away from Keahiloa's house! We all loved that so much. We did not have to travel far to go to a quiet beach.

The house is also centrally located, me and my hubby would go down to Waikiki for a morning stroll, my sisters spent most of their afternoons downtown and morning in Ka'a'wa. The drive from Ka'a'awa to Waikiki is so nice. The mountain views and ocean views were breathtaking!

Kualoa Ranch was just 10 mins away, Polynesian Cultural Center is only 15 mins away, North short is just 20 mins away and so many beaches around! :) :) :)

Our family enjoyed staying at your property and we just want to say thank you for having a house like yours for families to enjoy during their stay in Hawaii!

Thank you! :)

Nice quiet neighborhood and quaint older house.

We enjoyed our stay. Air conditioning would be nice and the house could use some TLC, but it was really nice to be on the quiet side of the island.

Lovely home and great location

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay here for our dream family vacation to Hawaii. The location is great because it's equal distance to the Honolulu area and the north shore, also you get to experience the authentic Hawaii because it's not commercialized. The house was clean, beautifully decorated and provided everything we needed for a home away from home.

Nice clean .. homie ..

  • 5 of 5

Not to far from the airport .. it's a easy drive .. and street is easy to find but we couldn't find the house or figure out that it's pushed back .. we saw the address sign but was alittle confused on where it was .

We had alittle bug problem and had to buy spray the ants were crazy to find any small amount of food that would sit in containers on countertop . So we learned real quick that left overs went straight to the fridge and couldn't sit out at all .. over all it was convinant to everything we were doing and we really liked that side of the island .

Owner's Response: Glad you folks had a great time! We try to keep the house stocked with ant spray under the sink, but we'll double check and restock. Like you said, being in the tropics, you can't leave any food out or they find it! Hope you took lots of pictures for some fun memories. Have a good day, aloha!

Ka’a’awa is located on the windward side of Oahu, near Kahana Bay and Kaoio Point.

This area of Oahu has been described as being “where the Ko’olau Mountains meet the sea.” Ka’a’awa, being on the “windward” side of the island, has some of the best surfing on the islands. Snorkeling and diving are also available in the area, and the sandbars at nearby Kaneohe Beach Park make a very nice spot for easy swimming. Ka’a’awa is also just one mile from Kualoa Ranch, which is a horse ranch that offers 40 minute or 1.5 hour trail rides into the Ka’a’awa Valley. This 4,000-acre ranch also offers helicopter rides, swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, mountain biking and more. Opposite the Kualoa Ranch is Kualoa Regional Park. This long, narrow beach is bordered by grassy areas and with the grand Ko’olau Mountains in the background, makes a great place along your windward side tour to sit back and enjoy a picnic lunch. Ka’a’awa is one of the best places on Oahu to enjoy both mountain and ocean views
