* In the Ka'a'awa Valley where Jurassic Park was filmed
* The Polynesian Cultural Center is about 15 minutes away
* The world famous North Shore is about 25 minutes away
* Honolulu airport is about 40 minutes away
* Waikiki is about 45 minutes away.
The really nice thing about Ka'a'awa : ... is the peacefulness, lack of crowds and natural beauty. You can enjoy our white sand beaches without fighting your way through crowds. The water is a gorgeous blue and there's a natural reef several hundred yards off the coast that keep the waves from being too big and dangerous near the shore.
This is a great place for families or couples, not to mention that it is a great value! There are several other rental homes in Ka'a'awa which are right on or across from the beach. These properties are quite nice, but they also command much higher rental costs. When you stay at our place, you save some money and you are also a block off the main highway, which means less traffic and noise.
Ka’a’awa Weather & Climate: The windward side of Oahu has a subtropical climate with prevailing northeasterly trade winds, which are a dominant factor that governs Oahu's pleasant climate. The trade winds are consistent in summer months, and in combination with the warm temperatures gives Oahu and all of Hawaii great conditions for sailing, boating and other outdoor recreational activities. Oahu has two mountain ranges that separate the wet 'windward' side from the drier 'leeward' coast. The Ko’olau Mountains extend along the northeastern side and to the west lies the Waianae Mountains. Showers occur almost daily on the windward side, while on the leeward said, showers are light. Even on the moist windward side, showers occur most frequently during evening hours. Occasionally the trade winds shut down and it can become hot and humid. It is rare, however, for weather to become severe enough to interfere with outdoor plans

Why Keahiloa chose Kaaawa
The windward side and Ka'a'awa in particular have special meaning for our 'ohana. Many of our fondest memories have taken place on these windward beaches. And we are so glad that Pono Loa has become a gathering place for our 'ohana, friends and haumana!

Wow, beautiful home with mountain view and the ocean to your back. Quiet setting and home was big enough for 7 easily. The property has a private backyard and the front porch is pretty private too. Beautful inside and just far enough from the touristy attractions but just a short drive from plenty to do. This is my third vacation rental and i love them because of all the home conviences. The owner and property manager with both great to work with. If you like to vacation away from it all in a quiet setting this is the place for you.
Home is nice but they need to keep up on the bugs!
We loved having a home to stay at but the bugs were awful! We all had little bites on our legs and arms every single morning. (I think if they would spray that could improve) I think they are in the furniture! We had to do the dishes by hand because the dishwasher would not start and the oven took over an hour to cook something that said 30 minutes. We were there the last week in February and the weather was a little cold at night. They have no blankets for the floor mats they provide one of the beds nor do they have blankets for the futon in the living room. They only had bedding for the 3 beds in the bedrooms. We had to drive 2 hours out of our way the second night to buy blankets because the property manager said they would not bring us any. He also told us he was cold too because of the weather and it wasn't normal. I didn't hate it but next time I will be staying on the dry side of the island!
Great place to stay
We had a great stay here. There is lots of space to spread out and the backyard is a nice place to let the kiddos loose while you make dinner. We were two families with 5 kids and we were comfortable.
You are not far from the Polynesian Cultural Center and the beaches just a couple kms south were some of the nicest that we visited - clean, quiet, calm.
Our host was great - easy to communicate with and he stopped in to check that all was well on our second day. We'd definitely recommend this place.
Everything was great. Do need an egg pan to cook eggs in though, like over easy etc.
Property was outstanding. Great location
thank you for the kind words and suggestion... we put the "egg pan" on our shopping list. hope you took lots of pictures and made many memories during your stay with us on O'ahu!
Not as advertised
If authentic Hawaiian means Not well kept, very dusty, lots of cockroaches and ants, then we got what was advertised, but I don’t think that was the intention. They do not spray for bugs, which is a must in Hawaii... but having said all that, we could have dealt with everything had the beds been comfortable. They were all terrible. Hard with springs sticking you in the back. Futon was was very thin, not usable. No patio furniture to enjoy the backyard space. Dishwasher is all rusted out and no dishwasher soap had we wanted to use it. Bathroom not clean, sand in shower, soap on walls, etc... bottom line, overpriced. We are vrbo owners and have spent many years in Hawaii, this not the quality I would have expected.
Nice quiet neighborhood and quaint older house.
We enjoyed our stay. Air conditioning would be nice and the house could use some TLC, but it was really nice to be on the quiet side of the island.
Ka’a’awa is located on the windward side of Oahu, near Kahana Bay and Kaoio Point. This area of Oahu has been described as being “where the Ko’olau Mountains meet the sea.” Ka’a’awa, being on the “windward” side of the island, has some of the best surfing on the islands. Snorkeling and diving are also available in the area, and the sandbars at nearby Kaneohe Beach Park make a very nice spot for easy swimming. Ka’a’awa is also just one mile from Kualoa Ranch, which is a horse ranch that offers 40 minute or 1.5 hour trail rides into the Ka’a’awa Valley. This 4,000-acre ranch also offers helicopter rides, swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, mountain biking and more. Opposite the Kualoa Ranch is Kualoa Regional Park. This long, narrow beach is bordered by grassy areas and with the grand Ko’olau Mountains in the background, makes a great place along your windward side tour to sit back and enjoy a picnic lunch. Ka’a’awa is one of the best places on Oahu to enjoy both mountain and ocean views
