This is what you come to the mountains for! The Glass Mountain Treehouse is poised mountainside overlooking tranquil ponds with water features in a picturesque setting. This cabin was lovingly hand built with wood from the land by a local craftsman. You'll understand why we call it a treehouse with all the natural woodworking inside and out. It is nestled on 4 hikeable acres. This is an upscale rustic mountain retreat with many exciting things to do on-site, i.e. rock staircases, numerous ponds, bold rushing creeks with waterfalls, open loft area, open decking, etc. Parents with young children strongly cautioned. Maybe the reading nook nestled across the suspended walkway will be your favorite spot. Mine is the natural log and glass shower with pebble floor surrounded by windows that open for an outdoor shower experience. For all its woodsy appeal, HDTV's upstairs and down and hi-speed wireless internet access will satisfy the techies.
You'll really appreciate the scenic drive that is just under thirty minutes to downtown Asheville and even less to Black Mountain. You can feel your cares slipping away as you meander through the peaceful mountainside. Wind through horse farms, fishing ponds, fields, homesteads and massive rhododendron groves. Bike and auto enthusiast beware you'll want to spend all your time driving around on some of the best roads for cruising and the Blue Ridge Parkway is just minutes away. You shouldn't leave without checking out Chimney Rock Park only 20 miles away and Lake Lure is just a little farther. There are so many activities to do within one hour whether your passions take you inside or out. This is truly a special place.

What makes this Cabin unique
We fell in love with this place the moment we saw it. It was rough finished with all the character and potential we could imagine. The bridge to the reading nook sold us. My husband is a master craftsman and finished the treehouse so you can't tell what is original and what we added. I love all the unique aspects of the cabin, it is far from ordinary. Whether hiking the property or lounging in one of the many special places we relish simply relaxing.

Very nice, but not for multi family
The property advertised 7 people... so we arranged a stay with family from the north east... only one bedroom has a door, the other is the master in an open loft, so if anyone is sleeping on one of the futons in the living room below there is zero privacy. Also the drive to Asheville is indeed 16 miles, but with mountain roads this means 30-40 minutes to get there.
The house is indeed very unique and the facilities were excellent... the real log fire is a plus and made the cold mountain experience a lot more fun.
Overall a great stay with family if you are looking for a quiet getaway.
We are happy that you enjoyed your stay in our Log Cabin in the mountains!
Such a cool place!
We had a great time and loved our stay!
This cabin is just fabulous! The location is perfect - close to Asheville and the Blue Ridge Parkway. The design of the cabin is so cool - someone has some serious artistic ability. I would totally recommend this cabin and hope to return next year.
Thank you! We are glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to host your next trip to the mountains!
Property and house need some major TLC
Although the location was perfect for us we were disappointed in the home itself. Very dusty and full of cobwebs. Needs a good cleaning. We had to wash all the dishes before we could use them as there was brown icky stuff on them. Shelves holding dishes were dusty. No storage area for food so most unrefridgerated items were left on counter only to have ants invade by the morning. Linens need to be upgraded. Holes in sheets, stains on towels and the kitchen towels were disgusting. When we look for a home to get away the kitchen is where we want to see the most invested. Having enough decent cooking tools and ones that will not fall apart if you use them or are incredibly dirty are what we are wanting. Rocking chairs falling apart and unsafe to sit in. Around the house outside needs major maintenance. Had to listen to the generator of the neighbor all day so not very peaceful. I feel it could be a cute place but it needs work and not worth the money we paid to stay. Will definitely look for something different on our next mountain trip.
We are glad you loved the location, and were completely unaware of these issues. Thank you for bringing them to our attention! I have already alerted housekeeping and will personally check into the kitchen and it's stock! The large pantry in the kitchen should of held all your non-perishables and the safety of the wooden rockers on the porch seemed fine at last look - but I will check into that as well. We always welcome the chance to make improvements and hope that your stay in the mountains was otherwise a wonderful experience!
Beautiful house needed housekeeping and updates
We rented the tree house the required 4 nights over Christmas. Upon arriving, i found the kitchen to be dusty. We had trouble in the kitchen as the pots and pans were dirty and worn out and pitted.. The tea kettle had a leak in it and there was 1 wine glass and not sufficient pans to cook a meal. The towels and bath mats were worn and thin. Some of the porch lights were out and it was dark out there. I did contact Al and asked for some compensation and he told me he was not allowed to do that and they have checked with housekeeping and have made corrections. Well that is good for the next person but he didn't seem to be able to help us. 250.00 a night is too much for this house if they aren't monitoring it. I will not rent from this company again and they probably don't care. I wish I had called the first day and asked for things to be made right on Christmas Eve. We would have had a better stay. This being said the house was nice but it is a long way out on a 35 MPH road. Live and learn
Unfortunately this review does not come as a surprise. After her vacation she attempted to extort a free night’s stay in exchange for not leaving a negative review. After check out she sent an email citing numerous petty complaints with a demand for a refund of a night’s stay. We sent a nice reply thanking her for bringing her concerns to our attention and that we would look into her complaints. She then followed up with a phone call where she was very nasty and threatened that if we didn’t refund a night’s stay that she would leave a negative review. She also insinuated that we forced them to stay a 4th night.
That being said I would like to take a moment to address her issues. The day before arrival we sent housekeeping out to make sure everything was nice and clean because it had been a couple weeks since the last guest. If you read the review below from the guest who stayed over Thanksgiving you’ll see that we were complimented on how well stocked and nice our kitchen is. Once a quarter we go through the furnishings to replace any items that are no longer serviceable. Her remarks about us not caring about our guests or overseeing the home are unjust and she misquoted and inflated our nightly rate.
We understand that folks do a lot of research and are excited to go on vacation. It is our goal to meet those expectations so that our guests enjoy our cabin as we do. In the unlikely event that a guest has a problem we do our best to remedy the problem right away. We have a lovely unique cabin in the mountains and enjoy sharing it with folks who are looking for a great escape!
Perfect stay in the mountains
The artistic treehouse was just as described. Plenty of space for four adults and two kids. Our dog had a great time too. The fireplace was lovely and kept the whole house warm and cozy. The kitchen was very well equipped - I was able to cook our Thanksgiving dinner with no problem. We toured the creamery next door nod bought some great artisanal cheeses then toured Biltmore and downtown Asheville. Really a great relaxing trip.
Thank you for taking your time to let others know about your Thanksgiving vacation at our treehouse. We welcome you back anytime!
