About Jessica Wynn
My husband, our friends and I have been taking annual ski trips to Boyne Highlands for the past decade. One year, we decided to try Shanty Creek. We loved the house we stayed in but were not so impressed with the resort. Our solution: build a luxury log home at Boyne Highlands that easily accommodated large groups like ours with the convenience of ski-in/ ski-out access right out our back door. In December of 2007 we completed construction on the Victoria.
Jessica Wynn purchased this Chalet in 2007
Why Jessica Wynn chose Pleasantview
We wanted to build our home at Boyne Highland in Harbor springs because it is a four seasons resort. The resort is perfectly situated between downtown Harbor Springs and downtown Petoskey. We enjoy the great skiing and golf, but we also enjoy hiking, mountain biking, horseback trail riding, the zip line course, tennis, swimming and dining at the Highlands. The amenities at Boyne Highland are excellent. There is always something to do. And, occasionally we make the drive to nearby Boyne Mountain for disk golf and the indoor water park... Avalanche Bay. We love to visit all of the beaches, shops, eateries and nature preserves in Harbor Springs and Petoskey. And our favorite place to dine al fresco is Leggs Inn. We have also traveled to the UP hunting waterfalls and lighthouses and a favorite place to bring new guests is Mackinac Island.

This is a great home that accommodated our large group very comfortably.
The house was great, but there were a few issues. First the drive way was a solid sheet of ice several inches thick, walking on it was precarious at best. The stairs leading up to the front door were also covered with ice. The owner expects the garage door to remain closed, so when we had friends come to visit they had to go up the outside stairs and more than a few people slipped. The next issue is no fault of the owner nor did they try to hide it, but the early closing of the lift and no night skiing on that section of the mountain really limited the actual practicality of ski in ski out. Despite these few things this was a great property and we had a ton of fun.
Thanks for your review Benjamin. We experienced an extreme thaw and then freeze the day/evening prior to your stay in early March which caused a significant amount of ice. While uncommon and unpredictable, this does happen occasionally during the late winter ski season and is why we discount our rates in March by 20%. We pride ourselves on maintaining the home to impeccable standards, but in this case mother nature was in charge and there is very little we can do. Because I gave you a free early arrival, you beat our crew over to the home to salt. I sent them over as soon as you called. Unfortunately, it sounds like the salt didn’t solve the issue. Please note we disclose in the contract that this is a ski chalet and you should expect snow and sometimes icy conditions. In the future, I would recommend that if you are having guests come to visit the house and there is ice on the steps, you ask them to call you once they have arrived so you can open the garage door and let them in through the interior stairway or walk around to the back of the house and enter through the back door where there is no ice because the area is covered.
Future guests, all homes in Andover Club are serviced by Interconnect. The lift stops running at 3:45 PM regardless if Boyne Highlands is open for night skiing as our area is not lit for night skiing. Only the runs immediately in front of the lodge are lit for night skiing. However, Boyne Highlands offers a free shuttle service to get you back to the home.
Beautiful home with ample space to accommodate our large group. We loved the hot tub on the deck with views of the ski hill and the ski in/ski out feature was perfect! I would definitely recommend to a friend.
Thanks for your review James. We enjoyed having you and look forward to hosting you again soon. More than half of our winter rentals are now repeat guests which is why our calendar books so quickly during the winter season.
Large, lovely home at Boyne Highlands
Overall, I highly recommend this home. We had an enjoyable stay. It is able to accommodate more people than most (maybe all) of the properties on the Boyne resort (we had a group of 11 adults and 8 children). The property is in a quiet location. The owner was very responsive, friendly and easy to work with. Messages to her received prompt attention, and she always provided clear responses to our questions. The home is well equipped, and the description of the properly and amenities is accurate. Our grandchildren enjoyed playing air hockey in the basement. The hot tub was a popular attraction. Separate temperature settings for the basement/play area and the main floor was appreciated.
Several things to be aware of are (and these are clearly mentioned in the property description):
1. The road to the property, and the driveway, are on fairly steep slopes. We were there in February, and the road and driveway were cleared. However, if there is fresh snow on the ground, you may have difficulty getting to the property or up the driveway without all-wheel drive. You should have at least one all-wheel drive vehicle with you in the winter.
2. The ski slope that goes past the property (Lois Lane) closes at 3:30 pm, so you cannot ski into the property in the evening or at night. However, during the day and early afternoon it is a most awesome convenience. We like skiing on the North Face, and Lois Lane is easily accessible from that area.
Great assessement of our property Floyd. I’m glad Tom enjoyed your stay and we’re looking forward to hosting you and your family again next year. Also I wanted to be sure you were aware of the free shuttle Boyne offers to take you back up to the home. That is really a convienent service when the lift closes that services our area of the mountain and you want to stay out on the slopes without dealing with leaving a car down at the lodge.
Great weekend getaway!
A beautiful house with all of the amenities. Plenty of room for groups and the ski-in/ski-out is great!
Thank you for your review Brad. We are glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to have you back soon!
We really enjoyed the house - enough room for three families with 10 kids total. Great location right on the slopes. Loved the Guest Services shuttle for those stuck down at the lodge. Kitchen was well stocked, the rooms were comfortable. Kids liked the game room downstairs. Great stay despite the negative temps all weekend.
Thank you for your review Brendan. I’m glad you were happy with the accommodations and enjoyed you stay. We hope to have your group back one day!
Good space overall
Good space for families. Could us some more decor to feel a little more like “home”, but great location, porch, hotub, etc. overall good experience.
