About Marilyn

Emerald City Suites manages 3 vacation rentals on this property (including this one) and we know it is the best building in Belltown! We have managed these units for 6 plus years and we know this building, property and area very well. When you look at the pictures you can see that we have paid close attention to detail and we try to accommodate all our guests needs. The building is most central in the Belltown Area and is one of the only that I know of with an indoor pool.

Why Marilyn chose Seattle

This property has so much to offer from secured parking & building and all the comforts of home. This unit is nice as it is on the same level as the pool, hot tub, garden courtyard and workout facility.

What makes this condo unique

When you stay at this condo, you will love how everything is so close by. Starbucks, Macrina Bakery, restaurants and clubs. You can walk everywhere, especially Pike Place Market and the Space Needle. Even though we've lived in Seattle for 20 plus years we still like to enjoy all the attractions as if we are tourists when we stay in Belltown! Seattle is beautiful anytime of year!

Very positive experience - king bed

  • 5 of 5

We didn't really experience anything negative at all. I loved that we had a king sized bed instead of a queen like most rentals. That's honestly what made us pick this place.

The location is truly awesome. If we were feeling up to it we could walk to almost any of the great touristy attractions in Seattle within 10-15 minutes. We were lazy though and just took a 4 dollar uber to the Seattle Center. We did have a car with us but decided to leave it in the included parking garage.

I think it's easy to be slightly intimidated by some of the rules regarding parking etc but don't let that be a deterrent to this place. It was very easy to follow instructions.

We loved all of the bars and great restaurants in the area. The pizza place just below has great food and some excellent Seattle brews. We also got a coffee and quick bite at the bread place below as well. I highly recommend it. Also, I never saw this on a review but there is a convenience store 2 shops down. So it made getting essentials really easy. They had a huge beer and wine selection too which was nice.

Also, someone suggested we go to Woodinvale just outside of Seattle. We hit the city tourist stuff pretty hard (actually completed the CityPass) so we had some time and went out there. It was truly amazing. There are so many amazing wineries (more than 100) and a ton of breweries. (Red Hook was great) If you have an extra half day to spare the city of Woodinvale is fantastic.

Anyways, back to out stay. It was super clean, very cute, excellently priced, and in a perfect location for us. We could even see Mt. Rainier on a clear day from the balcony. I highly recommend this place.

Also, anytime I read a review this nice about a place online I always dismiss it because I think it's fake. I assure you, this is not fake. It's truly a great place and I'm glad I picked it.

Fantastic location

  • 5 of 5

Great flat, so conveniently located to all the sites. Parking a great plus yet spaces are narrow but still better than driving around trying to find parking!

Well stocked kitchen! Fans welcomed with no air conditioning and remember swim suit ..pool and hot tub directly across from flat. Great views of sound from roof top patio. We had a wonderful visit and will return!

Great Location and Set Up!

  • 4 of 5

We had a lovely stay and found location to be great! The space is well appointed, with everything we could need in terms of kitchen and living for 2 days and 3 nights. We found the location was perfect for walking everywhere we wanted to be as most of our destinations were within a mile or so. We were so grateful to find a pack and play in the unit for our youngest (not yet two), and the ottoman bed was perfect for our 5 year old.

The ONLY reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is that it does get quite warm in the unit, however there is a free-standing air conditioner to cool things down as well. We chose not to run it all the time and just cracked a window during the day, which, with the fan provided, sufficed for late October. We will likely stay again if we get the chance!

Great space, location and value

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I along with our 2 young daughters stayed here for 3 nights in October and couldn't have been happier. The condo was just as described and very clean. It was located within walking distance of the market and the Space Needle and EMP museum. We felt very safe walking everywhere during the day and in the evening. There was a plethora of good restaurants within walking distance, too. Checking in and out was east. Very good communication. Highly recommend!

Pros and Cons

  • 2 of 5

First I'll start out with the pros

1. Nice kitchen, living room, bedroom, cute small deck.

2. Very good location, can't go wrong with that area.

3. Its safe.

Cons

1. Marilyn isn't the most friendly and will not respond to emails, we had to call multiple times to get the information we needed (and that was after paying and booking).

2. The housekeeper does not do a great job, I felt like he/she just swept all the stuff on the floor underneath things, and the counter tops were not very clean. Also the coffee grinder was full of used coffee grounds from the previous guest. And they ask for a tip which I thought was irritating since they do a lazy job.

3. The parking was a nightmare, extremely tight spaces. If you don't have someone to guide you I have no idea how you will park. Also they will fine you $200+ dollars if you don't park properly in a space. Something Marilyn never mentioned to us until we "conveniently" were already gone and away from our computer. Make sure she tells you the parking details.

4. Tiny water heater so you must take rushed showers.

I am 100% giving my honest review, we had a wonderful time in Seattle. This review is to help you make your decision.

Owner's Response: Marilyn has been managing for ECS for almost 6 years and our feedback has been 100% positive on how prompt and accommodating she is. VRBO takes all payments and we supply check in details/access once final payment has been made, about 2 weeks prior your stay. In this case, VRBO did not prompt for payment (or it went to spam) so we assisted in getting final payment made as well as providing check in details within 24 hours. Marilyn is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and takes less than 1 week vacation each year. She was available to provide a late check in for this guest at Midnight. If there is ever any issue, including housekeeping, please contact us. We did recently start providing complimentary coffee beans for or guests in our Welcome Basket, so we will be sure to check the coffee grinder in the future. Parking in Seattle is at a premium and most rentals and hotels charge A LOT per day for parking. Our parking space is included at no additional cost. It is a tight space, however, I am able to park my SUV with no trouble. I occasionally park my econoline work van as well. Due to safety and enjoyment of all residents, the HOA just began issuing fines for parking on/over the painted lines ($100) and also for not waiting for the garage door to fully close before driving away (Safety issue $250). We called all of our current guests immediately to notify of the new rules. We also emailed if we were unable to reach. In this case, we did both. These parking rules are now noted in our welcome letter. The water heater is brand new, typical apartment size. We have accommodated up to 6 guests in this unit and have never had an issue. The handle on the shower has the hot/cold reversed so this may have been the issue.
