About Mario Chiurato
I'm an Italian guy who has been living in Edinburgh since the year 1998, and I love this vibrant and very historical city! I like to provide my customers the best service possible, when they stay in my properties. This means being flexible with their requests as much as possible. I speak Italian, English and Spanish, and with a little help from Google Translate I can adventure myself in other languages too!

Great Location, Super Comfy and Netflix!
My husband and I totally enjoyed our time in Edinburgh which was made even better with our stay in this apartment. The building entrance and stairwell is a little bit dark and dingy but it’s safe. Besides, once you enter the apartment, you’ll forget what the outside looks like. The apartment is stylishly decorated and perfectly equipped with everything you need, even a coffee machine that compatible with ‘Nespresso’ type capsules / pods and Netflix! The bed is comfy and the shower pressure is superb. We walked everywhere from the apartment and saved on parking. Just behind is the massive Holyrood Park where you can climb up Arthur’s Seat one day and Salisbury Crag the next or both on the same day if you’re up for it! It was also a nice walk up Royal Mile and back via Princes St and Calton Hill. Shopping Centre with Sainsbury’s, Poundland, B&M and M&S Outlet are just a short walk away too. The host, Mario, is very friendly, communicative and helpful. If you’re looking for a good deal and great stay in Edinburgh, we’d highly recommend this apartment!
Not really impressed
The apartment we selected online was not the one we were given as it was a last minute change by the owner. First impressions of the apartment we very sketchy, we almost did not want to get out of the taxi (car with 4 slashed flat tires out front, lots of graffiti in the area and a garbage bin overflowing with trash outside the front door).
Apartment was ok, quite old. Found crisps and hair clips in the living room carpet. YUCK
Disapointed, sorry, will not use again
Very nice, clean apartment
Mario was super to work with. He forwarded me a ton of information including transportation options around the city. Very easy access and the apartment was spotless. Bathroom was very updated as well. It was not as close to the Royal Mile as we would have hoped but it was easy enough to get a cab or an Uber ride.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a positive feedback. I am happy to hear that you have enjoyed your stay in the apartment.
Quaint and comfy.
Mario was very easy to work with.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience in my apartment. I am very happy to hear that you fully enjoyed your stay!
Great location to explore Edinburgh from!
My stay was toward the end of August for 3 nights. I'd never been to the UK or Scotland before, and found this a great place to explore Edinburgh from. While the bus lines are handy... I just happened to walk everywhere I went. (Except to and from the train station I took a taxi because of my luggage.) I walked to Holyrood House, Parliament building, Edinburgh castle, Carlton Hill, St Giles Cathedral, etc. While it is “uphill” walking all the way to Edinburgh Castle, at least at the end of the day when you are tired, it is all “downhill” to get back to the apartment! Many places to eat & shop along the Royal Mile! The view at the end of the street of the apartment once you enter Holyrood Park is absolutely amazing! I was initially surprised to see all of the people with their dogs… but it made sense that it was a perfect place to bring them to play! I found the apartment itself to be quite nice, and it is located in a quiet neighborhood. I felt the bed was comfortable, the apartment was super clean, and just a nice, relaxing place to be after walking around all day. Mario made sure that I knew to give them a call anytime if I needed anything.
Good location from bottom of Royal Mile and a place to put your head down at night
Mario was kind during all his contact with us and the flat was clean when we arrived.
Unfortunately we did seem to have a few problems which Mario did offer to try to sort, but as we were only there for 2 nights, we didn't want to sit in and wait for these things to be done, we wanted to go and explore.
We noticed a strong smell of stale smoke in the flat which they had tried to cover up with numerous air freshners. By the end of our stay, we decided it wasn't the flat which smelt, but the communal stairwell which seemed to seep into the flat, unfortunately.
We had problems with the flush of the toilet and had to lift the cistern and pop the flush back up each time. Mario arranged a plumber for after we left. The fridge did not work, neither did the light bulb in the bathroom.
We found the bed rather uncomfortable and there was a street light outside the bedroom window with only office style blinds to block it out. It is quite close to the train line and you could hear the trains but they didn't run all night.
This flat is a great base to explore Edinburgh all day and crash in the evenings and I think we were unlucky with our experience; this all sounds rather negative, but we just thought it was important to give an honest review. We don't think it is a normal, true reflection of the standard Mario aims to maintain in his property.
The apartment is located at only few minutes’ walk from the Queen’s Palace, the Scottish Parliament and the very famous and historical Royal Mile. At the same time it is located in a quiet cul de sac with free on street car parking and pedestrian access to the magnificent Holyrood Park, Arthur’s Seat and the St Margaret's Loch: beautiful scenery you won’t easily forget about!
Only few minutes walking and you will be immersed in the beautiful historical Royal Mile that goes from the Queen’s Palace right up to the Edinburgh Castle.
