Fantastic Relaxing Getaway
We stayed at this rental with a large group of friends and absolutely loved it. It is a perfect place to relax with amazing views, beach access, and a hot tub. The owner and manager worked hard to ensure that everything went smoothly and all of our inquiries and requests were attended to quickly. A couple highlights were the 8 man hot tub in front of the beach, the wood burning stove in the living room, and collecting clams and oysters from the beach.
We will definitely be staying here again!
Beautiful views, nestled in the trees on Vancouver Island!!
We stayed for 6 days/5 nights with 10 people. Accommodations were very good, enough room for everyone to have their own space. Check in/check out were simple. Carolyn provided local places of interest/things to do which we took advantage of a few of them. Oysters are plentiful and delicious. Tide pools were fun for all especially the kids, very educational. Beach bonfire was great, but it was a search for firewood. There were 3 local Bald Eagles among us while we were there. Hottub was great. We even took out a rowboat on one of the calmer days. Lots of wildlife to enjoy.
The only reason this rating is not 5 star is the kitchen setup - the kitchen itself is rather small for such a large house that sleeps 14 people, and the available cookware is a little old as well as sparse (there are only 2 frying pans). Cooking for 10 people on a daily basis using what was available was a bit challenging at times.
Overall we had a great time!!
Thank you for your review and suggestions. I will personally attend to the consideration of kitchen ware. The house keepers usually are on top of any necessities, broken or missing items. I only wish you had mentioned something to me when I checked with you to make sure you were enjoying your holiday. I have back ups of everything to ensure that my guests have everything they need and then some. We welcome you back to our little piece of paradise.
property manager was intrusive and unprofessional
left property to get food came back to find her walking around yard. did not concider private space. when checking out gave zero effort to thank us or help us in how clean properly so we would not get charged. ***hot tub was not sanitary*** does not know how to maintain it.
overall uncomfortable with manager but beautful property.
An orientation of the property, and checking all subsequent amenities, such as hot tub, BBQ, and wood stove are provided at check in. Hot Tub was crystal clear, and notices of requirements to bath with soap are located in the House rules booklet, on a tent card and signed at the Hot tub. These instructions were not followed, as evident, when I went to property to see if all was well. Additional people showed up late at night whom had not paid, obviously a concern to the guest. Any and all information about the Home is provided in the House rule booklet, that obviously was not read. This is not a frat house or party house. May I suggest next time book camp sites.
Good people to deal with, no hassle, and great location. The 12 of us loved it and will hopefully be coming back!
Thank you for your lovely review. Hope to see you again.
We loved this property, the owners the management the setting and just being there. there is just one small thing I would change and that would be is to stay longer. Thank you so much for your humour, attention and caring to make our family feel so welcome.
It was a joy having you. Please come and visit again, we would love to see little Annabel blossom, and hear the banjo once again. Happy Trails
Multi-Family Vacation - Memorable
This VRBO rental was a precious, hidden jewel that allowed our family to have a memorable vacation. The log home was perfectly set up for a multi-family vacation. We had three families with four children ages 2,3,4,6. The home, location and amenities were as described in the VRBO site. Carolyn answered my questions promptly both through email and personally by phone and was very helpful in planning our family trip. Our damage deposit was returned as stated in her contract on time. Her recommendation for a fishing outing for the boys was an excellent referral and much appreciated. When we arrived both Carolyn and Bev her assistant were very welcoming. With them being close by they were able to assist with any questions we had and provided excellent recommendations for sites to see in the area. The beach truly was a living aquarium for our grandchildren and the adults when the tide was out and then kayaking in the evening was beautiful and peaceful. A highlight for the family was evening bonfires on the beach with bedtime snacks. The hot tub was an added plus or just relaxing on the deck facing the ocean. The log stove inside helped keep everything cozy on chilly evenings. Highly recommend this home and look forward to returning in the future. In planning to rent this home we would suggest visiting the Costco in Comex which is about 1/2 hour away to stock up. When planning take note there are no dry goods on site, but the kitchen is well stocked with dishes and appliances.
Centrally located on the Eastern side of Vancouver Island. Known for the most sunny days in British Columbia. Paddle down the tranquil shoreline, or pick a feed of oysters and clams from our beach. Salmon runs pass by our door on a regular basis, so don't forget your rod. Sixteen Golf coursed within an hours drive, or ski ,hike up Mt. Washington 30 minutes to our North. Trails abound in the many Provincial Parks that surround us.
