Modern Custom Tiny House in Downtown Phoenix Historic District

As featured on the Tiny House Talk blog!

Experience tiny living in Central Phoenix in a modern tiny house with luxurious accommodations. We hope you’ll feel welcome, considered and refreshed in the backyard of our 1925 bungalow in the Coronado Historic District of Central Phoenix, just 5 minutes from bustling Downtown. Numerous coffee shops and local restaurants are within walking distance.

The tiny house is constructed on a custom 8.5’ x 24’ trailer and is approximately 200 sq feet–260 if you include the loft!

You'll enter through the big red gate at the end of the driveway to your private patio, and up 3 steps to the tiny house. The living area features a sofa bed that folds down like a futon and 32" smart TV with a Chromecast. The kitchen is fully equipped to cook a full meal: 5.2 cu ft. fridge with freezer section, 2 burner cooktop, and convection microwave that can bake as well. You'll find everything you need to make coffee or tea (selections of both included), and cooking basics. There's even a pull-out peninsula for extra counter, dining, or work space. Two folding stools are Tucked in a closet behind the ladder stairs.

There is a step down at the hall door to the laundry area with washer/dryer combo unit and a fully plumbed bathroom with plenty of space to lay out your suitcase, hang your clothes, and store your toiletries. Plus, you'll never have to worry about running out of hot water with the tankless water heater.

Climb up the ladder to the loft (if you're not comfortable with ladders, this may not be the best place for you) to the spacious bedroom with plenty of head clearance while seated, a queen memory foam mattress and luxurious linens. Both screened windows are operable for cross-ventilation.

The large wall of windows features a slider in the middle, opening up to the shared backyard. While you're here, we'll try to keep our presence out back to a minimum. You may catch a glimpse of our spirited Vizsla dog or toddler. Please feel free to enjoy some fresh herbs (basil, thyme, oregano, mint, and lavender) and tomatoes from the garden. The french doors and windows in our house are to our master bedroom and bathroom, but we keep our blinds closed ensuring privacy for us all.

History: We loved being Airbnb hosts so much a couple years ago with our guest room (now the nursery) that we spent the last 2.5 years since having kids figuring out a way to continue. Our vision of putting a tiny house in our backyard was born, we commissioned 2 architects, collaborated on the design, and saw it through to completion just recently. Needless to say, we are SO excited to finally have you! See our website thenestphx for more information.

THE NEST GIFT SHOP

You can also shop while staying at The Nest- mini bar style! The tiny house features a selection of handmade tiny concrete planters to remind you of your stay. Simply take whichever ones you like and we'll send you an invoice. Plants are sold separately. If you'd like something specific, see thenestphx slash gift-shop or the printed price sheet in the binder for listings. We will either have your order waiting for you, or placed on the table outside before you leave.

About Cassandra Cardenas

We love our close-knit historic neighborhood nestled in our hometown of Central Phoenix, Arizona. Gilbert works close by in HR, and I'm (Cassie) an opera singer with Arizona Opera. We've been married 5 years and are raising 2 little girls (2.5 and 6 months) along with our sweet Vizsla dog, and chill chinchilla. We enjoy creating fabulous meals, attempting DIY house projects, finding adventures, and building relationships with people. We are so excited to get back into hosting after 2 years of working on this tiny house vision project!

Why Cassandra Cardenas chose Coronado

We loved being hosting so much a couple years ago with our guest room (now the nursery) that we spent the last 2.5 years since having kids figuring out a way to continue. Our vision of putting a tiny house in our backyard was born, we commissioned 2 architects, collaborated on the design, and saw it through to completion just recently. Needless to say, we are SO excited to finally have you! See our website thenestphx for more information.

What makes this guest house unique

It is our mission to give you a refreshing home away from home. We like to make your stay special with homemade baked goods or anything we can do to help make your visit memorable. The home is styled with some of my favorite DIY touches, including my handmade "tiny" concrete planters and air plant holders, which are for sale as part of The Nest Gift Shop. We also hope you'll enjoy trying out "tiny living," bringing home ideas for living with less.
