100% charming apartment in ancient village
Our family of loved loved this apartment with exposed beams in an old house in an old village. We used the kitchen and were able to cook at home and do laundry. 1-car parking was also very handy given the very limited parking in the village.
Katia has made this into a charming, comfortable cottage. Staying here was like stepping back in time, in a wonderful way. The accommodations were impeccably clean and Katia was warm and welcoming. Eguisheim is a wonderful base for exploring the area.
Straight out of a Disney Movie
Everything about this stay was delightful. The cottage is so lovely. Katia, a talented artist, has decorated the interior with a French warmth you would hope for on such a trip to the storied Alsace. The town is welcoming and a perfect size for strolling. There is a pizza place a block away (get the Melba dessert!), a bar across the way with a friendly neighborhood dog that visits, and a town square out of a storybook. We brought our dog and she was welcomed in many of the restaurants when it was too chilly to dine outside. We had private parking, so we were able to bring our car and drive to neighboring towns (Colmar and Riquewihr especially) easily. We appreciated that this town was not overrun with tourists but easily had all the charm of the area. The wines are wonderful! There is a bakery and a shop within a short walk from the cottage for all your snacking needs. I would highly recommend this very clean, updated (but still charming!) cottage. It was the perfect location!
Unique location in the heart of Eguisheim
Eguisheim has a central circle that everyone visits. This location is on the outer road which provides two advantages - easy to park from the back door and easy to walk the circle from the front door. The house is beautifully decorated all throughout. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking meals. There are two apartments. One on the first and one on the second. When we stayed, we only had one shared evening with other guests and it was very quiet. The owner is very kind and took the time to walk us through everything on arrival and very responsive when we had questions later. This was a wonderful location and we hope to visit again soon!
Classic Traditional Alsace Townhouse
Katia Schmitt is a local artist who has rebuilt, renovated and decorated this ancient house with excellent flair and taste. She has a shop on the ground floor, which doesn't impinge, with separate quite similar apartments across the first and second floors. We found the top apartment a charming place to stay for a week with our daughter, enjoying the view over the roof tops – complete with storks. It was always a pleasure to return to after a day exploring the local area by foot and by bike. Katia was friendly and helpful and the apartment nice and clean with sparkling windows. There is a small garden with a table, where we enjoyed aperitifs and al fresco dinners on warm evenings, though we had the advantage of no one staying in the other apartment or in the house next door. Eguisheim has interesting buildings and is pleasant to explore, but it is very much a tourist village with flocks of visitors and even a tourist train during the day. No problem in the early morning and evening when it was invariably quiet, and the house was pleasingly quiet at night. There is one good boulangerie nearby. Most of the other shops sell tourist stuff or stylishly packaged local wine, since Eguisheim is a major Alsace wine centre. We enjoyed good walks up in the foothills of the Vosges, just behind the village, and good cycle rides in all directions – through the vineyards south and north, up into the wooded hills, across the Rhine to Germany and back through the charming centre of Colmar. We had a very good week, staying in a delightfully civilised house in a delightfully civilised corner of France.
Quintessential Alsatian experience
This home is truly the ultimate Alsatian experience. It is decorated beautifully, is super clean and has all of the modern conveniences. The kitchen was well appointed for all of our cooking needs. The bed linens and towels were superior. Parking is conveniently located out back. The town itself is so perfect you really feel like you are walking through the set of Beauty and the Beast. Do not miss this experience.
Located on the wine route at the foot of the Vosges, Eguisheim, one of the oldest town in Alsace, wraps in concentric circles around his castle. This picturesque village with beautiful half-timbered houses, rated one of the most beautiful villages of France ', is among the best of your stay.
