Lisbon first trip
It came up to our expectations but as all ways in Lisbon you have to expect a hill nice garden out back good kitchen near some good restaurants
A bright funky flat in Lisboa!
We arrived on a sunny afternoon in early May, and Inez greeted us with a bottle of good wine, delicious cheese and biscuits. Her flat is at the top of a steep hill, then up two narrow steep flights of stairs (pack light). It was bright, cheerful, clean and spacious except for a very small bathroom. There's a little garden and deck out back -- the view is not inspiring --but it looks better in the sun. We had 4 days of grey drizzle (no city looks its best under that). The neighborhood is funky, a bit shabby, but interesting. It's close to all the glitzy hotels and shops, if that's what you prefer. You can easily walk down to the water (20 mins, if you don't stop at pastry shops)! Inez was a smart welcoming host,
who sent us to some great neighborhood restaurants. One suggestion -- a folder of info about the flat, the area, and tips about what to see .... Obrigada Inez!
Ines is a wonderful host. As we arrived at night she met us at the metro and took us to the apartment. A bottle of wine and cheese and biscuits were there to welcome us. Ines showed us how to use the appliances and was most helpful. The apartment is close to the metro and shops. I can thoroughly recommend it.
Comfortable, well equipped flat in a convenient location
The apartment is located in a quiet and cozy neighborhood. It has everything you need with even a patio and small garden to sit out in. There are good restaurants and cafés close to the apartment. You can walk to the center of Lisbon in 15 minutes. Inês was there to welcome us when we arrived and showed us where everything was as well as recommend places to eat locally. It was very welcome to have tea, coffee and milk already provided so that we didn't need to go shopping straight away - as well as some Portuguese snacks to have with a bottle of wine she provided. The extra thoughtful touches made a good start to our holiday. Highly recommend
Return to Lisbon after 50 years.
The great thing about the apartment is that it is very close to the city centre and very near to all transport links. Don't be put off by the exterior of the building as like many others in the city the outside walls are covered in graffiti.
The apartment is well equipped with everything you need and an extra feature but a very welcome one is a small terrace with garden. This is an absolute delight even at the end of October. The decor of the apartment has been given a lot of thought and is very pleasant on the eye. There are loads of very good restaurants within walking distance. It is an ideal base from which to explore Lisbon and beyond. Would recommend the apartment 100%. Great value for money.
Very good location
I chose this apartment for the location as it is centrally located in Lisbon but not close to late night bars and clubs. As a result, it was very quiet at night (which we wanted) so sleeping was not an issue for us after long days of touring Lisbon. The subway and bus system are very close by. If interested in nightlife, a 20 minute walk or short uber trip would get you there.
There are many great restaurants within a 2 minute walk so we did not use the kitchen to any great extent. Inez left us some basics including milk, coffee, cereal and other items which we really appreciated as we did not have to rush to buy these items. She also left us a bottle of wine and cheese and cookies which we enjoyed right away!
The apartment was perfect for two of us and I think you could easily manage with a family in the apartment. Inez keeps the apartment very clean. Both the television and wifi worked well. The backyard is available but we did not make use of it. Would be nice to sit outside in warm weather.
All in all, I would highly recommend. The apartment is consistent with how it is depicted and Inez was a gracious host.
