Our property is 5 acres of ponds, waterfalls and fruit trees. The space, our cottage is a 1200 sq/ft 2 bedroom 1 bath stand alone structure nestled in a eucalyptus grove. We are just 3 minutes from Highway 80 so getting here is a breeze. The deck overlooks a lovely pond, large trees and granite boulders. The cottage is just a few years old and we have just finished really nice interior and exterior upgrades. The main house, our residence is nicely hidden by trees, kiwi and grape plants. The cottage feels quite private.

Every room in this cottage is clean, comfortable, and tastefully decorated. All in all, the relaxing retreat they were striving to make. The beds are extremely comfortable! We stayed two nights. On the second night we were able to enjoy both the wonderful deck and company of Andrew, Naomi, and their sons. They are smart and thoughtful individuals. They are also a family that would respect your privacy, if that was your choice.
I did not do any cooking in the cottage, however it appears to be stocked appropriately. All of the rooms are very generous in size, including the bathroom. There are many sky lights and windows as well as french doors leading to the deck. The location makes the property super quiet and dark at night. It was hot during our stay. The window air conditioning unit, free standing room cooler, and overhead fans kept the cottage cool. There is also a woodstove and wall heating if you are staying in the winter.
We, and the couple who joined us, agree that this was a great find.
Home away from home!
We (me, my mom (77 years old) and daughter (16 years old)) absolutely loved staying here. The house was roomy, comfortable and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. The grounds were peaceful, the space was neat and well cared for, and the hosts were awesome! From the minute we pulled in to the minute we left, we never felt out of place. I cannot wait to return to Sacramento so I can stay here again - in fact, I might plan a trip back just to stay here again. Best VRBO I've stayed in by far!! Thank you!
Charming and quiet
The owners were great to work with, and the property is beautiful. They helped us out with candles when we lost power for a few hours the first evening. Wifi was spotty, but we made it work. The only thing that threw us was no microwave and oven not working, causing a couple of us to figure out plan b for meals. Overall we enjoyed our stay.
Thank you so much for your review! What a random thing for the power to go out! We learned from that and will have alternate lighting ready and waiting next time (which hopefully isn't soon!). We just got a microwave (so sorry for the inconvenience) and the oven repair man is coming back out to get the problem solved for good.
Wonderful, friendly owners
Naomi, Andrew, and their boys are wonderful, friendly, down-to-earth people. Their property is gorgeous, and once the ponds are filled again it will be absolutely amazing! Naomi had freshly-picked plums and homemade banana bread for us. The cabin is adorable, clean, and very comfortable. We are looking forward to staying there again in the future.
Clean, quiet, beautiful property, lovely and responsive hosts!
The property is gorgeous and the cottage is perfect! The place was well stocked with everything you could need. I wish we could have stayed longer! We will definitely be staying here in the future!
The cottage had 2 queen beds and a queen size pull out couch. There were multiple fans in the cottage and a wall AC unit. There was complimentary coffee and tea in the cupboard. There was no microwave, but there was a full kitchen otherwise. Plenty of bed sheets, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap, and lotion. Naomi and Andrew greeted our party very kindly. Their property is beautiful with multiple delicious plum trees. If you are interested in rafting the American River then I would highly recommend staying here as it is less than 15 minutes from the main meet up spot. Thanks again Naomi and Andrew!
We are located a couple miles from the historic foothill town of Newcastle and just a couple more to Auburn. Three miles gets you to Folsom Lake and miles of trails. The cottage is tucked back behind our main house on nearly 5 acres. Like a park, we have lots of fruit trees, 3 ponds, granite rocks. Very peaceful.
