Sequoia Park View House Set Right on the Kaweah River's Edge

Bedrooms 2
Space 2,100 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 - 3 nights

About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4-6)

The Sequoia Park View House is set right on the Kaweah River, two miles from the entrance to Sequoia National Park. The spectacular views from all rooms stretch from the main fork of the Kaweah River all the way to the tops of Morro Rock and the snow capped Alta Peak in Sequoia National Park. Even the Three Rivers natives say, 'WOW, WHAT A VIEW!' when they first walk through the front door.

We do accept reservations for a two night stay during the summer and holiday season at the standard rate of $400 per night.

We now provide free long distance calling within the U.S. via our land line phone, because the service of some cell phone providers for our area is poor.

There are two bedrooms with queen beds in each and a double sized futon in the lower river room, which has a wall of windows from the floor to the vaulted ceiling 18 feet above. The upper river room shares the same vaulted ceiling and overlooks the lower river room. It has a TV/DVD/VCR and stereo, ceiling fan, and dining table and chairs. It opens into the kitchen area, which is equipped with ceiling fan, dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator, oven/range, and all the necessary dishes, glasswares, and cooking utensils.

The lower river room opens onto the covered upper deck, which includes a ceiling fan and the outside dining table and chairs. A lower deck is seven steps down from there and is perched over gigantic boulders on the edge of the river.

The master bedroom also has a TV/DVD/VCR, a vaulted ceiling with ceiling fan, and adjoins the spacious master bath/dressing area. The hallway bathroom has a tub and shower with a Sequoia Park view as well.

There is a gas barbeque grill on the lanai, and up a walkway you will find our horseshoe pit area and expansive views of the foothills and mountains. The house is privately situated on one and two/thirds acres at the end of a 400' paved driveway. There is satellite TV reception and a land line phone for local and free long distance calling in the U.S. This 2,100 square foot house was built in 1994 and has central air conditioning and heating

You will find sitting on the river deck so mesmerizing and relaxing that it will be hard to pull yourself away to enjoy all that Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks and the Three Rivers area has to offer.

Beautiful and relaxing!

  • 4 of 5

The house is lovely and clean. The river was just amazing and it's so close to the national park.

The only down side was there was absolutely no cell service (Verizon customer) or wifi at the house. So if you want to completely unplug this is the place for you.

The checkin and checkout procedures were easy and timely!!

Thanks for an awesome visit!!!!

Beautiful house, lovely location

  • 5 of 5

My family & I really enjoyed staying in this house! The location is wonderful: tree-shaded & right on the river with a fabulous view of snow-capped mountains, including Moro Rock in the foreground, with plenty of deck space to sit or eat outside and take in the panorama. It is very close to the Sequoia Natl Park entrance gate, so getting to the park each day was no problem. The house itself is large and spacious, very clean & well-appointed. The two-story main living area has a wall of windows that capture the view of river & mountains, so that you can enjoy them in comfort from the inside, as well, which was especially nice with the temps reaching the 100 degree mark during our stay - the AC worked beautifully! The owners have taken care to stock it with just about all the niceties one could hope for - and that are often NOT included at other vacation houses where we have stayed, like hand towels & washcloths, enough useful cookware & dishes to actually cook & serve meals, nightlights for the stairs, lots of videos & DVDs, and a helpful notebook with information about the parks & Three Rivers.

The river was quite swollen & rushing during our visit (after a winter with snowpack of 175% of normal!), so if you have small children, you might think twice about this location. Our 15 yr old daughter, however, was just as enchanted by the rolling rapids as we were, and all of us enjoyed simply sitting just above it and watching it rustle past - not to mention the white-water river rafters that blew by once or twice a day! I understand that in drier years, the river is just a stream good for wading - amazing!

We came forewarned that internet & cell service are pretty non-existent, but found we were able to text and set up our own hotspot when necessary. Having an in-house wifi network would be handy. The only other thing I might suggest would be to make one of the beds a king rather than a queen, for tall folks like us. But really, the whole place was very comfortable, with pleasing, subtle decor that is very well maintained, and the owner and managers were very pleasant and helpful!

Thank you for providing a great home-away-from-home!

Beautiful vacation home!

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a place far away from the rush of our jobs and studies, in which we could enjoy family time with our wonderful children. This was the perfect house for that! There were plenty of cooking tools for my cooking passion, and the view from the kitchen window that I was able to enjoy preparing goodies for my family was priceless. My husband could finally take some time to relax, just enjoying the nature from a comfortable and warm chair. My three kids had plenty of space to play! We celebrate new years weekend there and we had a great time surrounded by the nature in a comfortable and relaxing house.

Wonderful Vacation Home

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent 12 days hiking in Sequoia, Kings Canyon and Mineral King Parks. It was a pleasure to return to this great home. We started and ended our days sitting on the deck enjoying the view and the sound of the river below. The home was clean, well maintained and comfortable. The temperature ranged from 65 to the upper 90s when we were there and the home remained comfortable whatever the temperature. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook dinner and the Village Market had all the groceries we needed. I thought the prices were about the same as they are here in CT, So there was no sticker shock for us. Three rivers is a great little community. Everyone was very nice and friendly. We had a great time and I highly recommend this vacation rental property.

Great vacation home!

  • 5 of 5

My sister, our husbands, and 1 of our adult children just returned home from a wonderful stay in 3 Rivers. The house and deck provided generous accomodations. We have vacationed a lot together and this is the best place we have ever stayed. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking utensils and dishes, linens were plentiful, and the views stunning. It was conveniently located 2 miles outside the Sequoia National Park entrance. Be advised that there is still a long drive to the park's main attractions after passing the main gate. If you plan to pack lunches and prepare meals at home, I would advise shopping before arriving at 3 Rivers. The groceries are quite pricey. You may want to bring plastic cups for smaller children. There are not many unbreakables provided. The owner and property manager were very helpful in making sure we had everything we needed.

Excellent Location & Well Stocked Kitchen

  • 4 of 5

Our family of 4 met with our good friends (another family of 4) for a vacation the last week of July. For a fair additional fee, we were able to book this property. The location was ideal. Directly on the river, minutes to the entrance of Sequoia National Park's Ash Mountain entrance. We went river swimming every day. The water level is lowest in the summer, so parts of the river were safe enough for our swimming kids (ages 8 and 6) and non swimming kids (ages 4.5 and 2.5), though we stayed within arms reach of each of them **at all times**. The older kids helped fashion a dam using river rocks which created a safe swimming area for the younger kids. For the more adventurous of us, we were able to go body surfing on the rocks (basically sliding down the whitewater areas where the rocks were large and smooth). Having water shoes was essential, as the rocks are slimy in places.

The house itself was as described. Clean and well cared for. The kitchen was well stocked with copious dishware and bakeware. I always bring my own chef's knife when renting a house, but there was a decent set of Ginzu knives available. The pantry had some spices and oils, though we brought our own so didn't need to use these. The bedrooms are still fairly bright despite the blinds, so if you have children who need complete darkness to go to sleep, you might bring your own blackout curtains and painter's tape, which we often do. We didn't need to do that this time because we figured it's vacation and they can stay up late a few nights. We also came during one of the hottest weeks, with temps at 106 and 108 on certain days, so the AC had a bit of trouble keeping up in the main room during the middle of the day, but were never uncomfortable.

I thought not having wifi would be challenging, but we quickly settled into it. Without wifi, working wasn't an option so it made for a true vacation. The landline was essential for staying in touch with family and our dog sitter back home, so the free US long distance was greatly appreciated.

The one thing that would have made this property better would be access to a washer and dryer. As a family with children, washer and dryer access is usually a priority for us, as it enables us to pack half as much and have clean clothes and linens throughout the trip. At least there were plenty of towels so we didn't feel like we were scrounging for clean ones.
