About Rachel and Kristian
We moved to Javea from Crystal Palace, South London 7 years ago to escape the stresses of living in London with 4 young boys... Triplets who are now 12, and their big brother, now 13. We added a new addition to the tribe(another boy) 3 years ago and our sixth boy in June 2018. Although not easy in the beginning the difference in lifestyle that we have achieved is amazing! The boys are all fluent in both Spanish and Valenciano (the local dialect) and we all love the stunning surroundings, weather, freedom and relaxed pace of life. We hope you will too, albeit briefly.
Rachel and Kristian purchased this Villa in 2012
Why Rachel and Kristian chose Javea
We love the space and peace and tranquillity the villa offers whilst being just a very short drive from the action, and hope that you will too. Many Spanish villas are old and dark and Casa Canyamel is the complete opposite with large windows, high ceilings (and a double height ceiling in the lounge) offering lots of light and open space whilst remaining pleasantly cool in the summer months. There is also a very welcome gentle breeze most afternoons.
What makes this Villa unique
The shaded naya is prefect for a BBQ and alfresco dining and overlooks the huge enclosed lawned garden so you can watch the children play safely. The pool area is completely separate and at the front of the house, ideal for sunbathing, entertaining and relaxing. Especially with the recent addition of a summer house and barbecue area. There really is little reason to go out! And the creme de la creme has to be watching the sunset behind the Montgo (mountain) from the roof terrace, preferably with a glass of something chilled in hand. The perfect summer escape.
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
Fantastic holiday with family and friends.
We had a fabulous holiday staying at Casa Canyamel. We were a mixed group of family and friends (7 adults, 4 kids) . The villa was beautiful with so much space indoors and outdoors. We spent nearly all of our time in the fantastic pool area swimming, eating, drinking and playing table tennis. Supermarkets were a short drive away as was the nearest beach. Can’t really comment on nearby restaurants or bars as we were so happy at the villa we barely ventured out! Aircon in each bedroom was brilliant, although ceiling fans very effective so wasn’t necessary to have it on all night. WiFi was an added bonus as the kids could have a bit of downtime when needed.
The only thing we could have used was a couple more parasols. There’s very little shade around the pool area in the middle of the day and whilst eating outside. There are of course options to move away from the pool area but with kids in the pool we wanted to stay close by wasn’t a problem though.
Oh and the views from the roof terrace were beautiful!
All in all a fabulous holiday and we’re all very much hoping we can book again for next year!!
We spent a beautiful week in this house.
I spent a fantastic week in this house. It was a spacious house for 9 people. The kitchen is very spacious and fully equipped. The pool was the place where we spent the most time, both adults and children. The water temperature in the pool was ideal.
Big villa with great outside entertaining area
We stayed with another family and had a great time. the Villa has a spacious kitchen and lounge area, with a great outdoor bbq and dining area - where spent most of the week! Everything was there for a very enjoyable family holiday, we’ll definitely be back.
would be good with aircon
The villa is spacious with good common areas, pool and a large kitchen. However, there is no air conditioning and it is unbearable at the height of the summer as the ceiling fans are totally useless in temperatures above 30 degrees. Our children couldn't sleep which meant that we also didn't sleep. We had to purchase fans to try and get some relief. I understand that the owners are considering installing aircon and I would strongly recommend that they do so.
This guest booked our villa thinking that it had air con. It doesn't, and we have never advertised it as such. We are really upset that Cathy decided to give us just 2 stars because of this when otherwise she couldn't fault anything. The ceiling fans that we have in every bedroom have always been sufficient for us as a family and all our other guests too, so please see our other reviews and do not let this one put you off! It is of course hot in Spain in August ;-) - just the way we like it!
Very spacious house with a great pool and outside area. Really beautiful
The accommodation was exactly as described on the website with plenty of space for 8 adults. The poolside outside area became the most popular place of an evening for all us to relax and enjoy each others company.
We would be happy to recommend this property to family and friends to stay.
We felt a car was essential as the walk to the nearest beach is winding walk down a hill so the walk back was a challenge. There was plenty of parking as we had 2 cars and l'arenal was a fabulous promenade with plenty of choice of restaurants and bars where the people were very welcoming and eager to please.
All the amenities in the house made life easy and having 3 bathrooms really useful for a large party.
This is an excellent villa. I would definitely recommend it.
We had a great 2 weeks in the villa staying as a group of 3 families, 6 adults and 4 children. The villa is great for adults and children. The pool is a decent size and good for the kids and the adults spent evenings in the cabana having drinks. I'd recommend taking advantage of the bbq area attached to cabana.
We ate outside at the back and in the cabana. Make sure you have repellant on and spray the cabana with it before though.
Its well located but i'd suggest a car to get around.
Gustavo is the local contact who cleaned the villa and was a great help. When we needed gas for the bbq he brought it round straight away.
I'd defo recommend this villa.
We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay and thank you for recommending our villa. We hope to see you again soon.
Javea really is the jewel of the costa blanca! It is simply stunning, and made up of 3 very distinct areas... The Arenal (meaning sandy), which is perfect for families consisting of a beautiful sandy beach with several children's play areas, lined by numerous bars and restaurants to suit every taste and pocket, The Port with it's pebble beach and more laid back feel, shops, restaurants, bars and cinema and the Old Town, which consists of beautiful typical Spanish buildings throughout the quaint cobbled, pedestrianised streets where lots of hidden gems and tapas bars await, and where the local weekly market is held every Thursday. Well worth a visit to pick up local souvenirs and fresh fruit and veg. We are a five minute drive from the arenal, 7 minutes from the port or old town and have the beaches of Portitxol and award winning Granadella even closer to home if you are looking to escape the crowds. The famous Montgo mountain dominates the skyline and appears to change colour frequently. We love to watch the sun set behind the Montgo from our roof terrace! The more adventurous are able to climb to its summit which offers breathtaking views as far as Ibiza on a clear day.
Javea is an authentic fishing town located at the Costa Blanca on the most easterly point of the Iberian peninsula of Spain. Centrally located 100 km from Valencia (due north) and 90 km from Alicante (due south), Javea is an easy hours drive by car from these historical cities and their airports. The island of Ibiza is a ferry trip away from Denia, another unique coastal town only a short drive through the picturesque mountains. The mountains surrounding this area and the dramatic cliffs along the coastline provide stunning natural beauty, and an ideal place to live or spend the holiday with the variety of residential areas offering many luxury holiday homes, villas and apartments.
Javea - Costa Blanca - Spain
Apart from the unique location and her typically Spanish charm, Javea is a village on the Costa Blanca that wants to stay a village thanks to the municipal policy. No high buildings, no mass tourism, but pure authenticity. In short, Javea is the place where people live and spend their holidays, who like privacy but also the conviviality and wants to avoid the crowds.
General information about Javea
The history of Javea (Jávea in Castilian), or Xabia (in Valencian), dates back many centuries. The first evidence of human inhabitation of the area is 16,000 years old, found as wall paintings in the caves of the impressive mountain Montgó.
Javea is divided into three different areas: the old town ( El Pueblo ), the port ( El Puerto ) and El Arenal, the area around the sandy beach of Javea, where you can also find most of our holiday apartments. The old town hasn´t changed much over the last centuries and has retained some traditionally built houses, around the typical Spanish squares.
The port was built in 1871 with the main trade being raisins. After this trade was no longer in demand, the once large harbour diminished to a small fishing harbour. Later on, thanks to the increasing tourism, the port expanded with a marina suitable for yachts and powerboats. The Arenal is the commercial and tourist part of Javea. Here you can also find many restaurants, pleasant bars and a few discotheques which stay open till late.
Beaches of Javea
The beautiful beaches along the 25 km coastline of Javea are mainly gravel and rocky beaches. La Grava and Cala Blanca beaches are excellent for water sports such as jet skiing, windsurfing and canoeing. The small bays Portitxol and Tang with gravel beaches are perfect for diving or snorkeling.
The Arenal is the sandy beach of Javea and as well as the bars and restaurants mentioned above, there are also other facilities like playgrounds for children, volleyball nets and also jet skis and boats for hire. Other beaches along the coastline of Javea include: El Pope, Ambolo, La Granadella, Muntanyar and Cala la Sardina.
Things to see in Javea
Javea has many beautiful places with stunning views and interesting sights, some of these worth a visit include the two churches: Iglesia de San Bartoleme, built in the 12th century and an example of late gothic architecture. Santa Maria de Loreto was built in 1967 with a very unusual design. The ceiling of this church is shaped as a ships hull, and is dedicated to the patron saint of the fishermen of Javea, The Holy Virgin of Loreto. Soler Blasco, the archaeological museum in the old town of Javea, offers a wealth of information about the areas and Iberian history.
Things to do in Javea
There are several amusement parks not far from Javea, like Terra Mitica , the first real theme park in the Costa Blanca Spain. Aqualandia on the other hand is a huge water park where children of every age can have an incredible day in many swimming pools with springboards, rapids, waterfalls and slides.
