Absolutely magical!

  • 5 of 5

I just can't express what a gorgeous spot this is. Other reviewers have said it all, and I'll cosign it all. David was extremely responsive and even suggested the Navitat Zipline--which we did--and it was AMAZING!! I hope to return to this house many times in the future!

Super nice house with wonderful long range view. Spacious and well appointed. Convenient to town.

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at the Mountain House. It was perfectly located in a beautiful quiet area but really close to Asheville and all that we wanted to do. We could not see any of the other houses in the area and no road noise at all! The bedrooms are spacious with plenty of closet and storage space. There is seating at the table for 6 plus 3 bar stools at the kitchen pass through. The kitchen was nice with a beautiful countertop and was fully stocked. All we needed was the food we wanted to prepare.

The wifi was strong enough for my son to be able to work from the house.

There are multiple windows in the living/dining area that allowed us to enjoy the view from anywhere in the room. The decks were nice and the hot tub was greatly appreciated after walking around all day!

I would point out that you must be able to climb steps. There are steps from the driveway up to the front door and inside up to the second floor bedrooms.

We would love to visit again maybe in the fall or spring. I want to see it in different seasons!

If you want a very convenient location to Asheville with all the joys of being up in the mountains, this is a great house for you.

Quiet, great view, lots of room

  • 5 of 5

Our family loved this house. It is very quiet, tucked in the woods. The deck is large with a great view. We enjoyed the hammock and hot tub. Very relaxing looking out over the mountains.

The house is spacious. We had 6 people and didn't feel crowded. It is also very well equipped with plenty of dishes, utensils, pans, condiments, spices, robes and towels for the hot tub, a big gas grille.

The house is in a good location, convenient to Asheville, the BlueRidge Parkway, waterfalls, etc.

I would definitely recommend this house.

Wonderful stay.

  • 4 of 5

We were pleasantly surprised by the beautiful cabin, the pictures didn't do it justice. The rooms were lovely and the kitchen was very well equipped. The large deck overlooking the mountains and valleys was the best place to watch the sunrise and sunset, as well as to enjoy the jacuzzi after each day of hikes. Although this cabin is in a residential neighborhood, once you are on the deck, you can't see or really hear anyone else, so it seems very secluded. We were looking for a log/cabin type of feel preferably with a nice view, and central to good hiking. This definitely fit the bill. We did hikes all 5 days we stayed here, and found it to be very central. You will have to drive almost 30 min or more almost no mater where you stay.

This cabin is fairly close to the Blue Ridge Parkway, which has beautiful views and hikes in either direction. We had two teenagers, aged 13 and 15 with us. We are from Florida where it's flat, but enjoy hiking. For those of you interested in hiking, here are some of the hikes that we did, while based at this cabin:

Craggy Gardens (from the picnic parking lot) - short hike, beautiful views

Mt. Mitchell to Mt. Craig - it's pretty much a ridgeline hike with some views along the way, and

beautiful rocky summit view.

Lookout Point in Montreat, a relatively short but steep hike to a rocky viewpoint.

Catawba Falls, easy hike to some pretty falls.

Hawksbill Mountain Trail - if you can endure the last 1 or 2 miles of the bumpy unpaved road to get there, it is so worth the trip. Linville Gorge is in this area too.

Black Balsam Knob Trail to Mt. Tennent is another beautiful ridgeline trail, with spectatular 360 degree views.

All in all we had a wonderful stay. Made most of our own meals without any issues since it was so well equipped. A quiet retreat with a beautiful view. Although we enjoyed hiking, this would be the perfect place to just stay, enjoy and not leave too.
