Fantastic property and people
We loved this place. The apartment is elegant, spacious and comfortable, the beautiful peaceful terrace has a wonderful view and is where you want to spend all your time. Riccardo was away but a special thank you to his friend Marco, who was the most delightful helpful host you could hope to meet, driving us from and to the station, making a special trip to bring extra linen, giving us advice on local things - nothing was too much trouble.
There were two issues which we would like to have been warned about. First, it would make a difference on arrival if there were at least rudimentary kitchen provisions ie olive oil, salt, pepper - there was nothing at all (though plenty of washing powder for the washing machine and paper in the printer, so no meanness of spirit generally!) But it mattered to us when we arrived tired because we had chosen not to have a car and it is hike into and (even more) back from town. We actually loved this walk, down quiet steps, and you wouldn't get the marvellous view without being high up, but to reach the stairway you must first walk 300 metres on an unpaved, busy, twisting road which made us feel nervous. With a car this simply isn't an issue - and parking is fine - but I wouldn't walk along this road with children.
The town of Santa Margherita is fabulous, lovely sea front, packed with top bakeries, and the starting point for rewarding hikes.
a home away from home beautifully situated and tastefully decorated
The stairs may be a bit much for some but even in our 80s we found access and egress good physical stimulus. Some would find the daily shopping drive down to sea level a nuisance, but once back home the delightful and peaceful terrace more that offsets the drudge of driving. We wouldn't recommend even trying to walk down or return on foot. Shopping in S.M. is a delight and traipsing through the streets, enjoying the many restaurants featuring Ligurian cuisine, or cruising to CinqueTerre, give a fine insight into the good life in Italy. If you want to party go to Rapallo or Portofino - if you want to experience the "far niente" of Italy take the Villa Fiametti for a few weeks. Highly recommended. Ricardo, the owner, is gracious and stays out of the way on his boat in the harbor. Most accommodating!
Fantastic view !
We had a wonderful time at villa and owner was very kind to guide us to the property. Super market is near by and you can find fish market in town. We got nice shrimp for steam cooking and was very good. We enjoy ride boat to Cinque Terre and Porte Fino found good restourant over there. The place has big parking even had a BBQ grill which we did not use but looks great. If you are planning to visit Santa Margarita Liguria this is the place.
Great place! Great View! Great vacation!!!
House and view are amazing. Ricardo met us at the Interstate highway in Rapallo and led the way to the house which helped a lot. House is not marked well and driveway is easy to miss. View is as advertised and is worth it. House is too far to walk to stores, restaurants and train station. Bring lots of coin for paring. Train station is perfect for inexpensive trips to 5 Terra, Genoa, Pisa & Turin. We parked in the Santa M and walked to Portofino. Great exercise and spectacular views the whole way. Ferries are easy to catch, too from the docks in Santa M.

I recommend reading Rick Steves Italy and Back Roads Italy. Both were spot on.
In all our years of traveling, we have never had such a commanding view of the Italian Riviera. The beautiful house sits on a majestic hill with a patio that you won't want to leave…and you shouldn't. The owner, Riccardo has supplied the kitchen with all the amenities, the Beds and Linens are comfortable, wifi was easy, and access to Santa Marguerite as well as Portofino….minutes away. We appreciated all the festive Christmas decorations and holiday boutiques…Perfect Getaway! Riccardo, the owner, was easy to deal with and went the extra mile meeting us by the highway …he even had time to give us a cooking lesson…which we all enjoyed. I would return and recommend it highly to all our friends and family.
Riccardo, the Owner, is very responsive and helpful. The villa was very clean, well equipped, and quiet. We especially enjoyed the terrace with wonderful views, breezes, and plantings. The path down to town is very steep, although picturesque, and there are taxis if you don't feel quite up to the climb back. Sometimes we drove to town, but parking to say the least is a challenge. From here, we took day trips to Cinque Terra and Portofino. Sue
First hill with a great sea view, tranquillity, parking space and public bus.
