Sit on the large back porch, or front porch, and enjoy the scenic views of your own personal river and mountain getaway. From the cottage you can walk down to the river and relax on your private dock, maybe even fish. Bring your boat or other water craft and take advantage of the boat ramp. Or, if the water is not for you then bring your backpack and go hiking, rock climbing, or hunting.
The Fall is a beautiful time to be on the river with the bright colors covering the mountains.
Load up the family and visit downtown Chattanooga which offers such attractions as the Chattanooga Aquarium, Creative Discovery Museum, Chattanooga Lookouts, Historic Bluff View Art District,an array of restaurants, and many other attractions, including Riverbend Music Festival. Just a little further is where you will find Ruby Falls, Rock City, and the Incline Railway. All of which are just 20 minutes away!
My name is Robin Phillips. This is the Home that I grew up in. There was a cabin in front that my Dad grew up in and that I lived in for a while. This house was built in 1972. When there are not guests staying, we are here having a good time. Thank you for staying and we hope you enjoy as much as we do.
We are located on the Bank of the Tennessee River with mountains on every side. There are views at ever angle.
We were a family of 4 adults and 3 children staying for 5 days at this beautiful Homeplace. Driving onto River Canyon Road and up to the Homeplace was almost surreal for us. The views and peacefulness of this area is just astounding. The Homeplace was PERFECT. The character of this house really makes you feel you are home. Beautiful old wooden floors, vintage furniture and spectacular views over the River. We sat outside and dawn and dusk watching the fog rolling over the mountains and the bats flying around looking for food, crickets chirping and sweet old "Tag", the dog, tagging along with us everywhere we went. We fell in love with him! We fished on the river most afternoons and caught some nice sized catfish and perch. We bbq'd most nights as well sitting on the back porch watching the sun go down... The drive into lookout mountain was easy and only took about 20 minutes. There is a Walmart and other shops plus a great little BBQ place just off River Canyon Road(10 min max). The Homeplace is far enough from the city to give you that peaceful countryside feel and close enough to drive into if you want more cosmopolitan activities. Chattanooga city is very pretty and charming. Overall I can honestly say this has been a wonderfully memorable vacation because of picking The Homeplace to stay and everything it offered to make you comfortable while there. I almost cried when it was time to leave, we definitely plan to come back! Thank you to the owners for sharing their beautiful home with us, you have a diamond!
Location directly on the TN river was perfect. We spent most of our time fishing while my daughter swam by the dock. Husband caught granddaddy catfish and kids made friends with the sweet dog from next door. Cabin was super clean (better than last few hotels I stayed at!!) and comfortable. A trip to downtown Chattanooga for ice cream and shopping was only 20 minutes away. Peaceful and scenic getaway. Plan to come back soon!
We rented this rural river getaway for our daughter and son-in-law's Chattanooga Ironman competition. We we onboard as cheerleaders, as always.
What a peaceful retreat, amid the hustle and bustle of the triathalon. The setting on the Tennessee River is absolutely stunning!
The house, itself, feels as if generations of love have resided here. And so it has, according to our hostess, Robin,
And Robin was not only welcoming, but attentive to our needs when the cofee-maker died. We never wanted for a hot cup of Joe. And that was important.
Tag, the neighbor's dog was a welcome/wonderful addition to our stay. A lovable friend who came calling when food was on his agenda.
There are not enough positives to describe this "Home Place"!
The house is comfortable. The grounds beatutiful. The surroundings incredible.
We are from Michigan and rented this house to stay at for our wedding/honeymoon trip. Let us just say, pictures do not do it justice! This is a nice home but an amazing property. Getting to the house was pretty easy and we enjoyed some of the scenic views on our way. It's close enough to town and far enough from neighbors to not realize they are there. It was an absolutely peaceful trip and we didn't want to come home. We got married about 35 minutes away and came back to the house for part of our photo shoot. Our photographer was able to get some beautiful pictures with the mountains and river in the background. This house is very well kept! It was clean and roomy for us, our 3 adult guests and 2 teenage daughters. It has 2 full bathrooms which worked out well for us and we spend a lot of time swimming in the river. There is a steep slope getting to and from the house to the dock, but it was well worth it when you see how much better the views were down there! The owner is wonderful. She was very helpful when we had questions before making the trip. We met her dad who was also so nice and even invited us to attend church with them that Sunday (unfortunately, we were very tired from celebrating our marriage the night before lol) We plan to rent this home again and highly recommend it to anyone seeking a nice, relaxing get away!
4 women stayed here for a long weekend and it was beautiful! We brought nice inner tube-like rafts and tied them to the dock and floated our cares away. The back porch is a lovely place to hang out and chat and the view is ever changing and spectacular. The interior is nicer than the pictures show - new leather couches and a coffee table, along with a larger tv make it nice for relaxing with a movie.
We decided to stay here with my parents instead of getting a couple of hotel rooms. The kids had a blast playing on the tire swing. It was too cold to swim but I'd love to come back when we could swim and fish too. The big white dog, Tag, was an excellent "host". He came over to play with the kids and our family just fell in love with this big cuddly pal! Plenty of room for us and my parents with the 3 kids in their own room using the roll away. Close enough to all the things we wanted to do in Chattanooga like Downtown, Rock City, Ruby Falls, and Incline Railway. It was so nice to come back and relax together rather than have separate hotel rooms. Thanks for sharing your place with us!
