YEA!!! We did it. All the materials, contractors and furnishings showed up just as scheduled and we now have a newly decorated cottage. We hope you love it as much us :-)

Wake up to beautiful mountain views and the sound of a stream outside your window or beautiful drifts of untouched snow. After a day of skiing or hiking, enjoy our fabulous Jacuzzi hot tub or fire up one of several fire options while watching the sunset. Activities are numerous in both summer and winter and include world class skiing/snow boarding, cross country skiing, mountain biking, rafting and hiking right outside the door or just minutes down the road.

Our cottage is equipped with everything you might need to prepare a quick snack or a gourmet meal. Nice glassware, dishes, linen, cooking tools and serving pieces allow you to enjoy this get-away as much as you would your own home. There is also a Weber charcoal grill and a gas grill on the expansive deck that wraps the back of the house. With 2 fireplaces and a pleasing decor, get ready to relax and smile a lot. It is truly a special place.

About Dawn Landau

Avid skiers and outdoor enthusiasts, we love to play in the mountains during all times of the year. We own Environs Residential, a design/build construction company and spend most of our time in Atanta, GA. Terry, a native of Ohio, was a resident of Breckenridge for 18 years prior to moving east. Dawn, a native of Tennessee, has lived in Atlanta since 1988. We love to travel to exciting new places and always look for spots where we can enjoy the outdoors or city culture. In addition to playing outside, we love to cook, appreciate nice wine and entertain our friends and neighbors. Sharing our little slice of heaven in the mountains is especially enjoyable. We love the comments and photos our guests send us after their stay.

Why Dawn Landau chose South Breckenridge

It took us 5 minutes in the house to decide to purchase it. A long-time friend of Terry's with whom we were having a beer a the local pizza joint, Fatty's, told us about it and drove us out to the place. Loving the location and of course the stream, we immediatley called another friend and realtor, Stephanie Epps, who got us in to see it the next day. We ended up buying the house along with both lots on either side! We love Valley of the Blue and our quiet street high above Hwy 9. The neighbors are great and the stars at night are magical.

What makes this house unique

Our mountain cottage is only 6 miles down Hwy 9 from Breckenridge. Far enough to have privacy and close enough for a trip to town for dinner. We love the serenity of the mountains, the stars at night from the hot tub and the views of Quandry Mountain from the deck and living room. It's small enough so that a couple can enjoy it to themselves without breaking the bank :-)

Hi! This is Aubrey. I have a mom, dad, and brother. Thank you so much for letting us in your home. We had the BEST TIME EVER! We even bilt a snowman, slides, a little fort and we are so great time ever (we think Aubrey took a writing break here). We saw lots of birds and squrls. The blue one we named Pistachio, the white one is Snowflake, the white and black one is Pengeno. and The squrls name is Chubs. Oh, and did I mention that our snowmans name is Mr. Anthony. We loved your home so much!

  • There is no bathtub at La Barranca so it may not be appropriate for small children that require a tub. The new shower tower has a hand-held feature that is perfect for bathing toddlers and older children.

Closet and drawer space is plentiful for all the play gear. The queen bedroom has a new flat-screen TV with remote. Bedding for the sleeper is stored in a trunk in the living room.

My wife and I were lucky to stay at this house during our ski trip in Breckenridge. Its not always we rent a house that has everything to offer for a comfortable vacation stay. Its close proximity to town and major ski areas is a plus, while we enjoyed a total seclusion on a mountain hill, utilizing hot tub on a deck. Large TV and strong wi fi added to comfort as well as very nice appointed kitchen with new appliances, two fireplaces, games....

The owners pointed out that AWD SUV a must during snow season, it helped greatly with getting to and out of the house during snow fall. House has plenty of shovels to clean around the deck and steps when needed. Owners were easy to reach and quick to respond when needed.

Overall, even for nothing else, the views from the house alone would earn 5 stars for us.

winter in the mountains

We had a great week at La Barranca. The property is nestled among beautiful old Ponderosa Pine and Spruce with a terrific view toward Hoosier pass. The gas fireplace provides wonderful ambiance and heat. The house is beautifully furnished with a spacious kitchen. We loved the covered entrance way where boots could be removed. We are hoping to return next year.

Incredible! Absolutely beautiful!

La Baranca was the perfect place for the two of us couples. It was easy to find, clean and comfortable. Just far enough out of town to feel like your own private getaway, and a quick ride to Main Street and all of the ski and glory of Breckinridge. We had SO much fun and can't thank y'all enough for our incredible memories!

Ideal cottage near Breckenridge for family of five

This was an ideal cottage for my family of five while visiting Breckenridge. Having the gas fireplace made the living room cozy and wood burning fireplace was great in the large kitchen with terrific counter space and table which made family game nights special. I took Dawns advice and rented a 4WD and I'm so glad I did. It was necessary to get up to the house. We enjoyed the hot tub it soothed our aching muscles. The house is close to many winter activities, we went snowmobiling and tubing in addition to the obvious ski/snowboarding. We will plan on returning. Thank you Fawn and Terry!

La Barranca is located in beautiful Valley of the Blue just 6 miles south of Main Street Breckenridge. Our guests have enjoyed the serene location and majestic views while being just a 10 minute drive to some of the best skiing, boarding and outdoor fun our country has to offer. There are 2 fourteeners to climb in the area, Mount Quandry being the most popular and best for non-experts. The trail head is just a mile away from the house. Continue south over Hoosier pass (go in the evening and see stars at the top like you have never seen them!) to Park County and the charming towns of Alma and Fairplay. I-70 and the town of Frisco are approximately 16 miles north where you have quick access to the Vail and Copper Mountain ski resorts. Keystone and Arapahoe Basin are just a few miles east via Swan Mountain Road off Hwy 9 at Farmer's Corner.
