Smartly outfitted and charming cottage. Views are beautiful. Easy walk to the village for groceries, drinks and dinner. Power outage before our arrival caused some issues. Access to firewood for heat made it cozy during the unusually cool weather. However, we were informed that it had not affected the use of hot water which unfortunately was not the case. Use of the office shower while helpful was inconvenient as we had to go back and forth with supplies. Bath/shower room in office was very dirty. Estate administrator remedied situation to our satisfaction. We would definitely stay here again.
Thank you for your review. We are sorry that the unprecedented storm caused so many issues and that tradesman were so inundated with requests to solve these problems that had affected the whole area and everyone was doing their utmost to rectify the situation. we are pleased that it did not affect your enjoyment too much and that you would visit us again - we would love to see you return at anytime. We are also very pleased that we remedied the situation to your satisfaction and we would thank you for you understanding.
Beautiful cottage in fantastic setting
The cottage was very well set up with a huge super king bed in main bedroom (!) and separate twin room so only slept four. Very comfortable for two of us x . Kitchen had everything we needed. Plus tv / Wifi etc. Beautiful views and walks from cottage . Would love to go back some day. Disappointed as Queen was in residence at Balmoral 10 miles away and didn't get invited for tea xxx !! Would recommend especially to couples.
lovely getaway for those pro hunting
Pros: beautiful getaway, as much wood for the lovely fire as needed and neat capable kitchen.
Cons: shots fired mid morning during the hunt (intermittently throughout our weeks holiday) cottage is next to office and shed used to skin and gut deer. (so close I smelt it!) and master bedroom mattress as hard as my mother's kitchen dresser.
Also, when we left our sons coat behind we asked for it to be posted to us. The coat never arrived.
Royal Deeside offers a wealth of activities ranging from hill walking to distilleries, and castles to craft centres. The town of Ballater is within walking distance and has an excellent range of shops and restaurants. Balmoral castle is also a short drive upstream and well worth a visit.
Golf is literally available on the doorstep with Ballater's very pretty golf course.
Sporting activities such as fishing and stalking can be arranged on the estate, by request, and our friendly staff will happily recommend to wildlife enthusiasts/photographers where to sight our various different resident species.
