Huge house reasonably priced!

  • 5 of 5

This is a great beach house right on the gulf. The kitchen/den area is just right for a large group. It has beautiful, big windows with great views. Two large bedrooms on the second floor have a balcony overlooking the ocean. This home has lots of room and can easily accommodate a large group. We enjoyed our stay here and would definitely go back if we need a house this large. One feature we really appreciated is that it had 2 refrigerators! I would recommend replacing the grill. Overall, we enjoyed our week at The Courthouse very much.

Perfect spot for my winter retreat

  • 5 of 5

This house couldn't have been more perfect! It sits directly on the beautiful white beaches of Gulf Shores (Ft. Morgan Rd). With two huge decks, (a full deck upstairs too) that offer such beautiful views, sunrise to sunset! The house is perfect for two people or it can easily sleep as many as 20 (I think!) At different times of our stay we had as many as 15 (7 adults and 8 children ages 3 mos to 16 yrs). How wonderful it is to be able to gather all your family in one place! There are two full king suites downstairs, one with a whirlpool tub and a separate shower, plus a hall half bath and a huge and gorgeous kitchen/den that looks out on the beach with deck access and a short walk to step right on the private beach. The house is beautifully furnished and decorated and the kitchen is fully equipped, lots of pots and pans, silverware, and glasses, two refrigerators and a utility room with full size washer and dryer. Upstairs are two more king master bedrooms with full baths, another bedroom with two twins and a day/trundle bed with full bath and a bedroom that is wall to wall twin beds with a full bath in the hall. The king masters upstairs are on the beach side with access to the upstairs deck. At night, if the weather permits, you can open the windows or doors and hear the beach. What could be more peaceful? The owners are but a phone call away and anxious to help if needed. I stayed 4 months this year and I can't wait to get back!

Slice of Paradise for a multi-family vacation

  • 4 of 5

A baseball tournament for our 14 year old son brought us and several other families to Gulf Shores. We had very specific needs to ensure privacy for the four families and this house was PERFECT. This house offers two things that are hard to find in the area, four master KING bedrooms all with private baths and a Sunday to Sunday rental. Two of the masters are in the front of the house on the first floor, and the other two are upstairs with wonderful views of the gulf and a shared balcony. The five fourteen year old boys shared an upstairs bunk room with six beds and a private bath. The three teen girls shared another upstairs bedroom with four beds and another private bath. A seventh half bath is conveniently located off the kitchen on the first floor.

The great room and kitchen are very spacious and comfortable with a wall of windows offering a magnificent gulf view. We cooked at the house nearly every night and had everything we needed. The laundry is just off the kitchen and the extra fridge was a great perk. The back deck is wide with several adirondack chairs, that lovely view, and a breeze every evening. The beach was simply gorgeous with lots of white sand, and even though we were there the week of the 4th, it was never crowded. We spent countless hours relaxing in our beach chairs, with our feet in the water. There are several sand bars just off the shore that make it ideal for even younger kids to safely navigate the waves.

This house is off the beaten track, and we were a bit concerned about the location as our baseball games were all in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. However, the road is in great condition, and you can cruise 55 mph without encountering any traffic until you actually arrive in town. If you are looking for some seclusion away from the craziness of downtown, this is the place! There is a convenience store just down the road from the house, "Sassy Bass" that we frequented for ice, drinks, assorted sundries, and even beach toys and hats.

The only things that prevented an "excellent" rating were a few conveniences that the house didn't offer. We had to lug four beach chairs from Illinois, as well as all towels. I would pay a bit more for these conveniences to be included. Considering the size of the house, a large gas grill would be ideal (it has an old charcoal one). Glenn, the owner, was wonderfully accommodating and answered my many questions quickly. You won't be disappointed by the Court House and we'd love to come back!

Lovely vacation

  • 5 of 5

The house was beautiful and the location perfect. My family had an awesome time. There were a few things about the house that could use some work but overall the house was in good shape and well equipped. There were several rooms that had light bulbs out, dinning room chairs were very wobbly and the refridge door in laundry room would not stay closed. The owners were very easy to work with and did everything they said they would. I would recommend this house to anyone and would love to go back again.

Good Place/Bad Place

  • 3 of 5

We have mixed reviews about our stay. The positives: It was a very spacious house. It fit our family quite nicely. The lay out of the house was nice and the access to the beach was wonderful!! Loved the extra fridge and enjoyed the walk way to the beach. However...

The negatives: It was very, very dirty. There was food, wrappers, sand, gum, etc...under the couches, between the cushions of the couch, under the beds. We didn't even go into the half bath because the day we arrived, we saw that it had not been cleaned. At all. The windows hadn't been cleaned in quite a while. We couldn't see out to the ocean. The ice maker didn't work and there wasn't any VCR's and only one DVD player. The tile crunched under our feet. Literally.

We really feel it should have been cleaner and better kept for the price we had to pay to stay there.
