Pre-Thanksgiving thanksgiving held at an awesome home!
We (8 adults and 1 dog) spent 3 nights at the tranquil Colby Reef house. It was wonderful! The decor was ocean themed and soothing. The blue/brown kitchen floor tiles are really neat. The house was so very clean, too.
We especially enjoyed hanging out in the living room playing games, watching Harry Potter and reminiscing. And foos ball upstairs! What a hoot! We discovered a very talented player among us who showed off one of the skills he picked up in college. He wiped the deck with us!
With the cool ocean breeze the outdoor dining table on the inland side of the deck was perfectly comfortable.
The kitchen worked quite well for us to prepare a huge thanksgiving feast. We used the outdoor bbq to cook the cranberry sauce. We are grateful for that as we had soooo much cooking to complete.
We also took advantage of the hot tub. The temperature and jets were perfect and the cover was easy to remove/replace.
The owner/manager was very kind to bring us a replacement coffee carafe and wine opener. Thank you, Hank for the trips you made to keep us happy! You rock!
Archer-dog had lots of room to run - especially important to a lab. He even had his own welcome tray with bowls and towels for clean up. Sweet.
The town of Mendocino was enchanting as well as the beaches on the way there. We saw many kayaker/fisherman with huge lingcod and other assorted fish. On a sunset walk at the headlands in Mendocino we saw whales and enjoyed a pleasant walk before heading back to Colby Reef for leftovers.
We took advantage of the nearest state park for a short mountain bike excursion of 7.5 miles out and back. We were the only bikers and saw just 2 hikers on a Saturday morning.
Several of us did some wine tasting on Hwy. 128 - delicious.
On our last morning we watched whales from the dining room! Awesome!
Check-in and check-out was easy-peasy.
I recommend this home and VRBO.
Thanks for the awesome review Susan! So glad you had good time. We hope to see you again.
Great place to relax !
The place was the best for us compared to the other places we rented. The house was perfect to unwind with its beautiful 180 degrees view. I guarantee whoever rent this place will feel the same. Hassle and stress free from the people managing it.
Jose, thank you for being such a great guest & for the wonderful review! It really means a lot to us & we sincerely appreciate your kind words. We're are so happy that you fully enjoyed the Colby Reef House & your visit to the Mendocino coast. We would love to welcome you back any time! Until then take care & happy travels!
We had a wonderful stay at Colby Reef, and loved it so much we extended our stay by a day! The views -- from both masters, the dining room, the loft/game room, and the enormous deck -- are stunning. The kitchen is all new, and there is a nice grill and a hot tub on the deck. The house was clean and comfortable, with nice linens and decorating touches. There are plenty of places for families to spend time together, and ample room to spread out for some privacy. As a previous reviewer noted, the bathrooms are not quite as nice as the rest of the house - showerheads and water pressure are a little low. And no toiletries provided other than hand soap. Overall, these are minor complaints considering how nice everything else was. We would absolutely recommend and hope to stay again!
Thank you very much Karen!
Hope to see you again!
