Great House for Family Reunion!

  • 5 of 5

Our large family had a great time at this large, comfortable home in E. Vail. It is near a bus stop, so even w/o a car, Vail activities are accessable. With 8 adults and 3 little children, there were plenty of beds. (We turned the "Media" rm into a kid's bedroom using the blow-up mattress and 2 Pack-n-Plays helpfully supplied by Todd, the owner. Thanks Todd!) The open, comfortable main floor offered lots of space for "together time" and the upper and lower sleeping areas supplied privacy (and nap quiet) when wanted. The house is literally beside/under I-70 (w/ all its truck noise) but with the stream literally outside the back of the house (and in full summer run-off) we never heard any road noises at all. I imagine this would also be true in the winter, if the stream supplies even a slow trickle. The kitchen is well appointed w/ dishes for 8 and dining chairs for 6. (We just gathered other small chairs around as needed.) All appliances were in good working order, though the dishwasher did not seem to be well-anchored under the cabinet and we often found the door wanted to drop open between washes. The upper master bed mattress was a bit sloppy, but was much improved once we turned it after the 1st night. The hot tub was a hit for all, and was in great working order, and Todd was very accommodating to work with (esp. in supplying baby equipment for us. Thanks again, Todd!) We all had a great time, and look forward to another visit.

Ex-husband of Five Year Renter

  • 5 of 5

I am the ex-husband of “Five Year Renter”. I have indeed spent many wonderful summers in this fantastic home. None more wonderful than those spent after my divorce. As testament, please see the very favorable review I posted in April 2012. This past summer, at the behest of my children, I allowed my ex-wife to spend a week at this property while I returned home to work. I can categorically say the review she has posted is a fabrication. I stayed in the home before and after her occupancy and can affirm that with the exception of the projector in the media room, everything was in good working order. I realized the bulb in the media room projector was burned out just a day or so before my ex-wife showed up. I called the owner, who I have known to be extremely responsive, and made him aware of the problem. He related he was having some issues getting in touch with his audio/video contractor and when he finally did, the bulb was on back order and would not be available for several days. Unfortunately, this happened to be during the time my ex-wife was on property. The TV, DVD, tub and other items were in good working order for the entirety of my stay. I have gotten to know the owner over the years and have always found him to be extremely accommodating and responsive. Unfortunately, my relationship with my ex-wife is not good. It is my opinion, posting this review was just another way for her lash out at me and the things I care about. Namely, the time I spend with my children in Vail Colorado being a significant item on the list of things I love. This is a marvelous home and I will be back for another month this summer.

Five year renter

  • 1 of 5

I have stayed at this fabulous home the past 5 summers. It has been fantastic until the past year. The furnishings, appliances, bedding and and ambiance have been first class, until our last visit. The cable did not work, so we had no television for a week. The media room did not work, so my children could not watch dvd movies. We had to sit on the floor and watch movies on my kids' portable dvd player for the car. The master tub did not have a plug, so you could not use it to bathe or for the jetted tub. The hot tub did not work. The dishwasher falls out of the cabinet. If you can get owners to commit to the basics working, you will have a fantastic time! If not, save your money. TV, master tub and dishwasher should all work.

Owner's Response: We did have an issue with the bulb being out to the projector and once notified of the problem responded by ordering the bulb. It's a hard to obtain item that has to be ordered in, once it arrived it was promptly replaced. As the ex-husband stated much of this is a fabrication and a means to lash out at him. I'm not sure how I was caught in the middle of this toxic warfare. Funny how every other review is 5 stars-

Great house with outstanding common area and high-end finishes

  • 5 of 5

We were very impressed by the house. We had 10 people for a long weekend of skiing and hanging out. We knew we wanted a large common space for gathering post-skiing. The great room in the house is spectacular with timber framing, mounted steer and very nice, working gas fireplace. It was a perfect place to gather for a large group. The kitchen featured very high end appliances and was very comfortable for us to hang out in while cooking breakfast. All the rooms and bathrooms had very nice finishes. Overall, would highly recommend. Very convenient to shuttle.

Fabulous House!

  • 5 of 5

My family of 5 wanted to spend some time out of the Texas heat and enjoy the mountains in Vail. I felt very lucky to find such a wonderful house to stay in while we were in Colorado. It was very hard to leave. My favorite part about the house was the river running right in the backyard. We always had the windows and doors open so that we could hear that beautiful sound. My husband's favorite part of the house was the media room! My teenager had her own space upstairs and my two little kids had comfortable rooms downstairs close to me. It was all just perfect! We also loved being in walking distance to the bus stop so that we didn't have to drive around too much in Vail. This house had all of the amenities that we needed including a perfect hot tub! It was a great house to be able to stay in for the week. Thank you Todd for opening up your house!

Luxurious home in peaceful East Vail

  • 5 of 5

This is a fantastic home in East Vail with a city shuttle stop just a block away. This million dollar++ property is exceptionally well maintained and is of very recent construction vintage. I have stayed here many times over several weeks at a time for many years. The owners are kind and very accomodating, always interested in the quality of your experience. Easy access to the Vail bike trail is just a block away. Beacause this is in East Vail, there is virtually no trouble planning a bike trip over Vail Pass (assuming you have the lungs and legs for it) as you are adjacent to Bighorn Rd. which leads to the public road (no cars allowed, bike and pedestrian only) over the pass. All of the amenities of this home are first rate, from the media room to the steam shower in one of the master baths. One extremly nice feature is there is a master on floor 1 (fireplace in MBR) and another on floor 3 (steam shower in MBath). Also, the proerty overlook a tributary of Gore Creek, with access to the steam from the rear yard. The patio at that level boasts a large hot tub, which makes for very relaxing evenings overlooking (and hearing) the stream. On that note, when you Google Map the location you may be worried because of its proximity to I-70. By all means do not be! The site is well below the grade of the freeway (by some 50 - 70 feet), which coupled with the stream which flows directly behind the property drowns out any and all noise from the freeway. In summary, this is a beautiful, very well appointed property owned by individuals who truly care about your experience and will make your time there as easy and pleasurable as possible. That's why I come back year after year.
