Why Shelley Theaux chose Breaux Bridge
LaTortue is a special property to us as it weaves together our shared Cajun heritage, our love for nature, and the vibrancy of downtown living.
What makes this Cottage unique
We were able to not only choose the property, but also remodel the cottage to have comforts of home with modern design touches while bringing the outside in with sets of sliding glass doors and wrap around porches. We even added a dock to get one step closer. Our favorite touch is the 7 ft wide bridge which leads our guests to the cottage. It features a lighted waterfall beneath and overlooks a beautiful fountain.

Peace on the Bayou
In a word..... Perfect!!! We enjoyed the quiet solitude of the property, yet we could walk to town to eat, shop and play. A lovely retreat. The property owners are very accommodating and in tune with your every need.
Thank you, Sally and David, for your kind words and for staying with us at LaTortue. It was a lovely to meet you both, and we’re so glad you enjoyed your stay!
My husband and I enjoyed our stay. The rental was perfect for the amount of time we used it for. It was clean and had everything we needed.
We loved the small town of Breaux Bridge and the people were all so welcoming!
Beautiful inside and out! Totally convenient location. Clean, comfortable and unique! Loved falling asleep to the sounds of frogs and lounging on the porch enjoying nature. Owners friendly and helpful. Definitely hope to return!
Thank you, Kelsey, for choosing LaTortue! We so enjoyed meeting you and Sean! My girls give names to the turtles (not that they can tell them apart), but we’re going to call one of them “Idaho” from now on. We hope to see you both again for a return visit! Thanks again!
We loved this place. It's within easy walking distance to downtown. It was quiet, however the bullfrogs serenaded us at night, which we loved. We certainty recommend this place!
Thank you Tim, and thank you for choosing La Tortue!
Cajun country getaway
Fantastic cabin on a large property in middle of Breaux Bridge.
Access across pond via wooden bridge.
Came here for Crawfish Festival weekend, was the perfect peaceful place for downtime away from the festival. All the amenities you could ask for.
Very close to restaurants and cafes in BB.
Personalized welcome sign from the owner was a nice touch.
Thank you, Eric and Tammy, for your complimentary review! We’re so glad you enjoyed the cabin and your stay in Breaux Bridge! Please come back anytime!!
The only noise you'll hear here are the frogs in the pond. Cleanest and nicest place I've ever rented on HomeAway. You'll think you're the first person to have stayed here, it is so clean. Beautiful and peaceful surrounds on very uncrowded lot, complete with large pond and beautiful yard and trees. Everything you'll need is inside, including coffee, etc.
Met the owner upon arrival and she was super nice...they live across the lot if you ever need them (we didn't), but they don't bug you. I'd HIGHLY recommend this place if you're ever in the area and needed a good spot. I was just with a friend on a photo trip (Lake Martin, right down the road), but would also make a great "retreat" area for a family with kids.
Can't say enough about how peaceful it was, especially with the nice front and side porches, just sitting outside in the evening watching / listening to the frogs and birds.
We thank you so much Kelly! We are so glad you chose La Tortue. Come back anytime!
We're located only 500 yards to Downtown Breaux Bridge, featuring World Famous Zydeco Breakfast at Buck and Johnny's, live Cajun music at Joie de Vivre Cafe, fabulous dining at Cafe Sydnie Mae's with award winning chef, Bonnie Breaux. Enjoy shopping at gift shops, antique shops, including Lagniappe, a 17,000 square foot antique mall! No tour would be complete without stopping by our newly dedicated Veteran's park honouring all branches of our military, as well as a quiet rest under the shade of the giant live oaks on Bayou Teche, followed by a swamp tour in Lake Martin. Top off the evening with dancing at La Poussiere, the famous Cajun Dance Hall or Pont Breaux's Restaurant!
