Relaxing But Close to Fun!

  • 5 of 5

The booking process went smoothly and all communication with Ken was easy and welcoming.

This home was at the end of the road, private and quiet. The kitchen was well equipped and the furniture was very comfortable and relaxing. The wrap around deck was inviting, rain or shine.

The best part was its proximity to both the Winchuck River and the Pacific Ocean - a very quick walk! Strolling on the beach, especially early evening, was peaceful. Lots of driftwood and rocks! And not too busy for your dogs to enjoy!

This home is also very close to the Port of Brookings where you can enjoy harbor views and eat delicious seafood. Our favorite was The Hungry Clam! Just a short drive further down the road is a stretch of small gift and specialty shops that are fun to explore.

One of my son's favorite activities was floating his canoe. We also brought along our kayaks. The Winchuck was floatable during our stay due to a wet winter, but is recommended only for those more experienced boaters since the river is fast moving, and at the top is quite a bit of white water. The Chetco River is a bit calmer.

While we were eager to clam, we learned that there is too much fresh water entering the coast this far south and you really need to head further north towards Coos Bay or the Coquille River. Just plan ahead and make it a day trip!

We absolutely would return!

Staye 3 months

  • 5 of 5

I stayed 3 months and would have stayed longer if it hadn't already been booked. I was working in town and it was home for the 3 months I was here. If I get a chance to come back I will try and stay here again. It was quiet and a short walk to the ocean which I enjoyed very much.

Great location - Loved our stay!

  • 5 of 5

This is our second time staying here. The house is very clean and we really like the location and it's close proximity to the river and the beach. The spacious yard and deck make it a great place to have a bbq and relax. We also liked to walk down to the beach and watch the sunset. While we were here we booked a fishing trip with Tidewind Sportfishing. They are a great outfit and will do all they can to make sure that you catch some fish. It was our 10 yr old son's first time and he really enjoyed it! Thank you Ken for everything! You are very accommodating. Your quick response while making the reservations, along with any questions that needed answered was very much appreciated. We look forward to coming back soon.

Great place to stay in South Oregon

  • 5 of 5

We had a very pleasant 5-day stay in this house. The location can hardly be better for us - it's a quiet corner of Brookings; it takes 2 minutes walking to the Winchuck river and another 2-3 min along the river to the ocean. It is also very close to the US 101 highway, but we didn't hear the highway noise as it is screened by thick vegetation. There is also Crissey Field State Park just across the Winchuck river (1 min. driving or 10 min walking from the house) with a nice visitor center where one can get all information about local attractions. The house itself is clean and very comfortable, has everything for a perfect vacation. We used it as a base for our trips along the coast between Klamath and Gold Beach, as well as to the redwood forests. I also enjoyed observing wildlife, in particular, a variety of birds at the river and ocean, and around the house itself. The owner, Ken Nolan, is a very nice person. We had great communication; reservation process went as smooth as could be.

To summarize, we would certainly stay here if we ever come to this area again. l would recommend this house to a friend without hesitation.

Beautiful Corner of the World + Comfy, Homey Space

  • 5 of 5

This is a great place to stay in Brookings. The house is comfortable and feels like home. Has everything you could possibly need. Its location can't be beat--5 minutes and you're at the river AND the ocean. My husband and I spent a few days there with our two dogs and everyone was super happy. Added bonus: the beach there was super dog-friendly which we didn't know going in. Ken is very communicative and helpful and everything went very smoothly. This was a great home base for our travels up the Oregon coast.
