Our family traveled to Mexico often and had some incredible vacations. We enjoyed visiting many different Mexican cities, and then we happened upon Cabo San Lucas. There was just something magical here. We found ourselves being disappointed in other vacation spots and returning to Cabo more and more often.
The Owner purchased this condo in 2006
We purchased our first vacation condo at Misiones del Cabo in 2004. This turned out to be the perfect location! Misiones is only about 3 miles from downtown Cabo and has an awesome view of Land’s End. The resort had all the amenities we were looking for with two beautiful pools with swim up bars, tennis courts, and a gorgeous private beach with great snorkeling. We loved it so much two years later we purchased a second condo.
Cabo is a place that we hope to call our permanent home one day.
One of my favorite times in this magical place is waking up to the sun rise and having coffee on the balcony, looking out at an ocean view that is as serene as looking at Heaven itself. Sometimes I catch the whales playing in the distance and I think they are as happy as I am to be here!
This was our third trip to Cabo and first time renting a condo instead of staying at a resort. We loved it! We rented a car and the location made it very easy to go to San Lucas as well as San Jose for a day trip. The patio is the best feature of this rental. It is huge and the views are amazing. We bought groceries and made food for the week in the kitchen and on the grill. We ate every meal we had in the condo outside on the large table. It was very well appointed with all you would need to have to cook and store leftovers. The beaches were just a short walk away and we watched the sunset every evening from the beach to the west that had the arch views. We were married at (what is now called) the Sunset Da Mona Lisa in 2003 and had our wedding pictures taken on that beach, so it was extra special for us to stay so close and get to go there every day. The storage closet was equipped with beach chairs, a cooler, beach bag, umbrella, boogie boards, and snorkeling gear. Not the newest or nicest stuff, but it worked out since we didn't bring any of those things with us. The grounds of Misiones were beautiful and well maintained. It's an older property but they have kept it nice. There were some negatives and no place is perfect. The condo was very neat and clean, but the bathroom could have been cleaner. A couple days in, we noticed an odor coming from the toilet and there was mold growing under the rim. There were cleaning supplies under the kitchen sink so I took care of it and it was better after that, but typically you don't want to be cleaning toilets on vacation. Probably time for a new one. While cleaning it, I found a good amount of hair behind and beside the toilet that didn't belong to us, indicating that the cleaning crew wasn't thorough. Kind of gross. I'm a self-admitted clean freak though so maybe things like that don't bother some people. The shower was big and spacious, but didn't have a door so water constantly splashed out on the mat and floor. It had a rain shower head, which was nice, but when you have a very tiny water heater under the sink, it wastes water and you're forced to rush through. Shower time was 5-6 minutes tops. The only other negative for us was that the pool/bar was located right below the balcony, so at times the noise from people and kids getting rowdy was a bit much when you're on a trip to relax without kids. :) That's nitpicking though. Overall, it was great! I recommend renting a car as well. Amazing vacation!!!
It was our first trip to cabo and staying at Misiones del Cabo was fantastic. It wasn't a big resort but it was pretty and well kept. The main pool and bar was great to hang out at for lunch or an early dinner. There isn't much in walking distance, except for a rocky beach and a couple restaurants, but it is a quick bus/taxi ride to downtown. We had a little snag getting into the condo (code was incorrect) but once we got in everything else was as advertised. The morning view of the sunset from the balcony was beautiful and the balcony itself was much bigger than we expected.
If you are looking for relaxing place to lay your head and a nice resort that isn't too far from the marina then definitely stay here.
We spent Christmas week in Lori's condo. It was a joy. Firstly it was very clean and Lori sent an e-mail package with all of the information I would need on both the condo and surrounding area. Restaurants she recommended as well as things to do. The weather was perfect and we could sleep with the sliding door to the balcony open and listen to the surf.
After spending 10 days in this wonderful condo in March of 2013, we returned again in 2014 for the entire month of March. We’ve already booked for 2015.
Although it is a one bedroom unit it is really spacious with a large living room and a huge balcony. We had no problem accommodating my daughter, her husband and our granddaughter when they stayed with us for a week during our stay. There is a sofa bed in the living room and a two person futon on the balcony that provided plenty of sleeping areas. Since the weather is pretty much perfect here all the time, we slept out on the balcony several nights as well.
Probably the best feature of the unit is the view. It is on the 5th floor, overlooks the pool, and has an awesome view of the Sea of Cortez. Just about every morning we watched the sunrise over the sea while enjoying our coffee. We pretty much lived on the balcony when we were in the unit, often cooking fish and shrimp-on-the-barbie.
The Misiones complex is well maintained including the grounds and pool. Since this was our second year here we enjoyed renewing old acquaintances around the pool. The pool has a nice swim up bar where you can also get light food during the day and more substantial buffet meals two nights a week.
The Misiones complex is located just outside of Cabo off the main highway between Cabo and San Jose. We had a car, and I’d recommend it to anyone who wants the best Cabo experience. IMHO there is <only> one place to rent from and that is www.bbbrentacar.com at the San Jose airport.
All in all I’ll give both the condo and the complex 5 stars, and I’m voting with my wallet-returning in 2015 and probably every year thereafter.
We have been to Cabo over a dozen times but this was our first experience using VRBO. We always get a car so it was no problem that you need one at this location to get anywhere. We loved the condo grounds...they were well maintained and the pool area lovely. We found out that many of the units have been updated with granite, etc. However, this particular condo itself is in bad need of an update. It was clean but appeared 'dirty' because it is older and well used. It definitely needs a new coat of paint, base molding redone, cabinet doors re-hung, larger hot water tank (ran out while showering twice and not long shower time), futon cover on deck replaced (looked filthy enough didn't want to sit on it), & TV didn't work. Even though our check out time was 11:00 the cleaner showed up at 9:00 and wanted to clean. She did not speak English but through my translation phone app we were finally able to convey that we would not be ready until actual check out time so we felt rushed. (She waited outside of the unit for quite awhile.) I don't mean to be totally down on the property...Lori was lovely and was very helpful making recommendations, etc. View from deck was great! Beaches w/in walking distance were nice. Da Mona Lisa restaurant (w/in walking distance) was fabulous! For the grounds, pool, cabana area, and surrounding restaurant and beaches I'd give 4 stars (good) but for the condo itself, only 2 stars (fair)...that is why we gave it an overall 3 star. The price of this unit is very reasonable. Would I stay here again...perhaps in an updated unit (or if this one was re-done) but...?
We rented this condo for 12 days. It was wonderful. Amazing views. Amazing location. Close to town but yet far enough away to be quiet. 2 Beaches just 2 minute walks. Snorkeling beach close by. Great food. Thanks Lori. For those of you renting a car...do your homework. The insurance is 3x the car rental and it is required. So add that to your budget!
