About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms + Detached Unit, 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 10)

Incredible Architect designed Adirondack Style (2008) waterfront cottage located in a quiet area of Sebago Lake on desirable Raymond Cape. The cottage sits 35 feet from the water where there is a wonderful, kid friendly large clean sandy beach and fire pit. Walk right in to go swimming or boating.

The property boasts a very unique deck that sits virtually 'on top of the water'. A fabulous, private location to have evening cocktails or sun bathe for the day. The views will relax and soothe you. Maybe even stay out there for dinner.

In the evening you can retire to the large screened porch where you can play games or read a good book or just take a snooze! You don't miss a thing from here because you are looking right out to the lake only 35 feet away!

We have a separate bunk house 50 feet behind the main cottage that sleeps two more in bunk beds. The bunk house has electric power and lights.

Sebago Lake offers fabulous fishing, boating, swimming and numerous other summer activities. Bring your boat or USE OUR CANOE FOR FREE and enjoy long summer days on the lake. There is a mooring available for your use (at your own risk) or tie up on your private beach.

No smoking is allowed in the cottage. One pet, dog or cat, is allowed for an additional non-refundable $300 pet fee (per week). New water well installed in 2008!

About John Donahoe

I am a licensed architect and professional musician. You can find me playing saxophone and electric violin at various venues in the southern Maine lakes region during the summer season. Stop by and say hello.

John Donahoe purchased this house in 2007

Why John Donahoe chose Sebago Lake

When I saw the location of this cottage I saw magic. I put in an offer and as soon as we closed on the property I tore down the old shack and designed and built a new 'adirondac style' cottage in the same location. With a huge sandy beach and shallow entry in a quiet cove ... This is one sweet property!

Very nice beachfront cottage

  • 5 of 5

This home was perfect for our vacation with 2 adults, 4 kids, and a small dog.

The cottage itself is in good condition, with a recently remodeled interior. It's not huge, but certainly adequate, and the cathedral ceilings in most rooms give it a more spacious feel. The extra half-bath is really important with 4 kids in in the house! The 14-year-olds loved the separate bunkhouse (which has electricity).

There's a good sized deck built out on top of the water, and a mooring buoy to tie up a boat if you have one. The beach itself is also very private and pleasant. Sebago's water is warm, and although the lakefloor is muddy, once you get out a few feet the water is quite clear. The house is situated on a quiet cove in Jordan Bay of Sebago, and powerboaters seemed respectful in not buzzing by too early or too late in the day.

The house is on a dirt road, so it's quite private, and what little traffic there is can't go quickly, so it's safe for biking or walking your dog. The Frye Island ferry is within walking distance.

The owner was responsive, fair, and pleasant to interact with. We hope to return some day!

Owner's Response: Thanks for your nice review. We are happy that you enjoyed you stay at our cottage and welcome you back soon. We agree that it is a nice quiet, private spot on Big Sebago Lake. Although we provide a free boat mooring, many people simply bring their boat up onto the nice sandy beach and tie up there. It's also a great beach for kids.

A week in the woods

  • 5 of 5

Just returned from great secluded cottage . Coming from the city it was a breath of fresh air to be at a spot with no noise. My family had a great time rented a speed boat for the week and docked it right outside the house on the private beach. I thought it was very nice of John calling us on the first day to make sure everything was alright with cottage. The cottage was great the extra 1/2 bathroom in one off the bedrooms worked out well one off the best features was the screened in porch great spot to read morning newspaper with coffee overlooking lake. I would recommend the place to friends and plan on going back next year.

Sebago Getaway

  • 5 of 5

I spent a week at John's cottage with my parents who are in their 80's and my 8 year old lab mix. The cottage is laid out nicely and having a second bath was very convenient. I was concerned about renting on a large lake like Sebago, but the cottage is located in a shallow cove making it both quiet and enjoyable. I kayaked every day and my parents were able to enjoy the water without worry. The owner was honest and easy to communicate with from the beginning to the end. This was our first lake rental and I can only hope to be able to do this again next year if it is available. Thank you John for sharing your cottage.

Place was beautiful. Met the owner John and he was very accommodating. Been staying on Sebago Lake 40 years and would definitely rent this place again.

Perfect, peaceful place.

I am reluctant to leave a review of this cabin for fear others might discover one of the sweetest vacation retreats in New England!

The cabin was exactly as described, the scenery serene. Whether making s'mores by the firepit steps from the lake, reading by the cabin's fireplace, swimming, sunbathing, conoeing, fishing, or just relaxing, this spot has it all. My family of four (two children 11 &12) had a wonderful time bonding, laughing together, and being "unplugged" (by choice).

There are places to buy groceries and supplies, an amusement park for the kid in all of us, antique and junque shops for treasure-hunters, hiking and biking trails for the fitness-conscious, all manner of restaurants serving various cuisines, a cinema for those rainy days, and lots of home-made ice-cream stands - all within about 5-10 miles of the cabin.

We were all so reluctant to return to our "normal" lives of deadlines, schedules, stress, and commuting. Once mortals have tasted ambrosia, it's hard to go back to casseroles...

Family Fun

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at this cabin. Our kids (8, 6, and twin 3 year olds) just loved it and cried when we went home. The cabin was just perfect with a blend of rustic and modern. It was clean and provided everything we needed. The kids especially loved the canoe and waterfront. It was close enough for a trip to Storyland and a great starting point for our 50 mile bike ride around Lake Sebago. Perfect spot to practice some open water swimming with a wetsuit since early in the season. The water is crystal clear.
