About The Owner

We opened Crooked Cabin Properties in 1995 with the original Crooked Cabin which was lovingly restored and furnished. We have restored 3 more properties, all located in the historic district of town. VRBO 383767

The Owner purchased this cabin in 1979

Why The Owner chose Blue Ridge Highlands

We chose to buy our properties in the historic District of Abingdon, Virginia because we feel it is important for guests to have the feel of being in the heart of town and having easy access to all the wonderful events and activities that Abingdon has to offer. After staying in cottages in the middle of Colonial Williamsburg and seeing how fun it was to actually be in the center of things...we decided that we would like visitors to experience the same feel in our town.

What makes this cabin unique

Easy walk to The World Famous Barter Theatre, Virginia Creeper Hike and Bike Trail and great shopping and dining! We are close to TVA lakes, Appalachian Trail, Bristol Race Track, and the Country Music Road. We provide our guests with complimentary passes to the Coomes Recreation Center, a state of the arts facility just minutes from your door...indoor/outdoor pools, tennis courts, exercise facilities, playground, walking trails and skateboard park. We also provide complimentary pastries, juices and coffees/teas on arrival morning.

Guestbook comments from the owner

If you want to stay in a perfect place for exploring the quaint town of Abingdon, you could find no better spot than The Crooked Cabin. We ( a group of 5 girlfriends) escaped Knoxville to take an early Spring Creeper Trail Ride and found the perfect base right on Main Street on our favorite East end. We could walk to everything and great restaurants were at our beck and call. We loved being able to walk to Wolf Hills Brewery. The high privacy fenced in patio was perfect for keeping our bikes and the laundry room off the back entrance was perfect for leaving our muddy gear. We are already looking at dates for fall at the cabin. Can't wait to enjoy the charm and location again. We highly recommend The Crooked Cabin for Abingdon visits.

The 4 Knitting ladies

  • 4 of 5

We had such a wonderful time! This was the first time the 4 of us have vacationed together without our husbands. The Crooked Cabin was PERFECT! Women can be difficult and we were all a bit concerned but the Cabin was perfectly appointed, very comfortable, right within walking distance of practically everything, and enough room to give us the space we needed. It's interesting "Crooked" features added laughs and conversation. Our Host and Hostess went WAY beyond what was necessary to make our stay perfect, even to bringing us a plate of cookies when WE couldn't figure how to cut the TV on! (It worked perfectly-our bad). We are already planning another trip. The 6 1/2 hr drive was well worth it, and beat stay in the hotel.

A Wonderful Getaway with a Great Location

  • 5 of 5

Great owners! Once inside the cabin you will know why they named it the Crooked Cabin. We all loved the characteristics and charm! The cabin has a fully equipped kitchen. There were wonderful apple scones with an assortment of juices, tea, coffee, cream and sugar waiting for us. The location is fantastic, walking distance to some really nice restaurants, to the Barter Theater, farmers market, Wolf's Brewery and lots of beautiful shops. We are looking forward to visiting the Crooked Cabin and Abingdon again!

So charming! It earns its name. Close to everything we wanted to do. Barter Theatre, Creeper Trail, Wolf Hills Brewery. Plenty of room for four adults. Art work throughout Crooked Cabin is fun. Many nice touches. We will definitely return.

Rustic and Charming Cabin in Historic Downtown Abingdon

  • 5 of 5

After two fun-filled days of exploring the downtown area, browsing the antique shops, and watching a Barter Show with friends, we enjoyed a take-out meal from one of the local gourmet restaurants and made a stop at Anthony's Desserts for the fabulous cheesecake. The cabin was a unique experience in the perfect location. The quaintness and rustic feel was truly a "1780 lodging experience with a lot of modern conveniences". The Creeper Trail is only two blocks away and the popular Wolf Hills Microbrewery is just across the street, so we must revisit again in the future and we will definitely stay in the cabin. It is highly recommended for family and a girls getaway.

College Friends Weekend

  • 5 of 5

Four friends of 40+ years spend a weekend together every year at one of our homes. This year we decided to pick a central location so no one would have to drive too far. We were so lucky to find the Crooked Cabin. This is a cozy and charming property close to everything in Abingdon. We were able to do everything we normally do -- go shopping, eat out and in, and just sit around and catch up with each other.

The Crooked Cabin was very comfortable. Each room is appointed with lovely antiques and decorations. We slept well in comfortable beds, and we had no problem finding everything we needed for preparing meals in the kitchen. We all agreed that we would recommend the Crooked Cabin and will likely return there for a future girls weekend.
