Bald Eagle Cottage is a charming 3 bedroom, 2 bath updated Ozark farmhouse on a secluded 3000 acre privately owned family retreat set in the wild mountains and clear streams of the Missouri Ozarks. You can watch deer and turkeys feed in the large hay field from your front deck or take a short walk to your own private swimming hole on Sinking Creek. For adventures off the farm, you can enjoy the nearby national/state parks and activities such as floating, fishing, hiking, and horseback riding. Bald Eagle Cottage offers a modern kitchen with full size appliances and a washer and dryer. It is well stocked with kitchen items necessary for cooking and serving full meals. There are two updated full bathrooms. Natural light streams through the large windows. Restored original oak floors run through most of the cottage. A bright flower garden lines the front walk.
Ozark Wild Creeks is located approximately 30 miles southeast of Salem, MO, and 25 miles north of Eminence off Highway 19 at Highway A. The property borders the 60,000 acre Roger Pryor Pioneer Backcountry and the Sunklands, and is close to Echo Bluff State Park as well as the Round Springs and Pulltite Springs areas of the National Scenic Riverways. Several miles of Sinking Creek and Barren Fork Creek meander through the property.
Rest and relax, read a book on the patio or get out and enjoy outdoor activities in this wild and remote area of the Missouri Ozarks. On the farm: Bald Eagle Cottage is just a 10 minute walk from your own stretch of crystal clear Sinking Creek. Swim in one of the deeper holes or just sit in the creek in complete privacy. Listen to the water gurgling over the rocks and forget the outside world for awhile.
Off the farm: floating on the nearby Current River and the Jacks Fork is a favorite adventure. Outfitters are located nearby who will pick up you up at the Cottage, put you in the river at various points and return you to your cabin at the end of the float.
Hiking, fishing, swimming and mountain biking are variously offered at Echo Bluff State Park, Current River State Park, the National Scenic Riverways, the Roger Pryor Pioneer Backcountry and the Sunklands. Check online to see which activities are offered in which locations.
Round Spring, Alley Spring and Mill, Blue Spring, Pulltite Spring, Welch Spring, the Devils Well and Rocky Falls are all natural wonders of Missouri within easy driving distance. Montauk State Park with its large springs and splendid trout fishing is also well worth a visit.
Several outfitters offer horseback riding in the area with trails winding through the the state and national park area.
Eminence, 25 miles south from Ozark Wild Creeks on Highway 19, is a delightful old Ozark town with shops, local restaurants, and a small grocery store. Eminence features the Shannon County Museum with its fascinating history of the local area.
Salem, 30 miles north on Highway 19, offers larger stores including a Wal-Mart with a grocery store and a Country Mart grocery store. The Dent County Museum, which is housed in a home built in 1895, presents information on the history of Salem and Dent County.
The Bald Eagle Cottage land line offers unlimited long distance within the continental US. There is no cell phone service in the area.
There is a Keurig single serve and a standard coffee pot. We provide a starter amount of coffee and tea.
There is a Weber Kettle charcoal BBQ. We provide a starter amount of charcoal.
We pick up the trash from the can behind the house daily.
The nearest grocery stores are a considerable distance away in Salem and Eminence, so be sure to plan ahead for your shopping. There are small convenience stores at the various canoe rentals along Hwy 19 that may provide some shopping opportunities.
